LOGINFor a long moment, Alicia just stood there, looking at him with a teary eye.
Her fingers tightened around the orange peel still in her hand, her heart beating faster than the rain hitting the windows. She stared at Lucas, hoping, praying, he would say something else, that he was pulling her legs.
That it was a mistake.
That he didn’t mean it.
But Lucas didn’t take the words back.
He just stood there, calm, cold, and still the same facial expression.
“I… I don’t understand,” She finally uttered a word, her voice barely steady. “A divorce?”
He looked at her without flinching. “I think I’ve been clear enough.”
She dropped the orange peel, stepping toward him. “Please, Lucas. Don’t do this. We have Maya. We have a home, I gave you everything… even my kidney. Doesn’t that mean anything to you?”
His eyes narrowed. “Don’t act like a saint, Alicia.”
Her lips trembled. “I’m not pretending…. I love you deeply, with everything in me.”
“Oh, come on!” he snapped, throwing his wet suitcase on the couch. “You think this marriage was ever supposed to happen?”
Alicia stepped back.
He exhaled sharply, like the truth had been sitting on his chest for years.
“I courted you because of a bet, Alicia. Back in college, you were the quiet one. The stiff, nerd, uptight girl who didn’t talk to anyone. My friends dared me to make you fall in love, and I did.”
Her knees weakened the more she heard him talk, but she didn’t fall. She held the edge of the table to steady herself.
Lucas kept going, without mincing words. “It was never supposed to go that far. But then you got pregnant, and my father found out. He threatened to cut me off if I didn’t marry you.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks. She couldn’t even wipe them fast enough.
“You think I chose this life? I was trapped. And now that he’s gone, I’m done pretending.”
Alicia choked on her words. “But Maya… she needs both of us.”
“I’ll take care of her,” he said flatly. “I’ll tell you when you can visit.”
Her mouth dropped open.
“You’re taking her from me?”
“She’s the only thing that came out of this... mistake, I won’t let you ruin her too.”
He turned and walked upstairs, leaving her shattered on the floor.

The next morning, Alicia sat at a corner table inside Amaya’s café. The place smelled like roasted coffee beans, and soft music played in the background.
But Alicia tasted none of it. She just stared at her untouched hot, steamy coffee.
Amaya finally walked over from the counter and sat in the seat beside her.
“You haven’t said anything since you came in. Talk to me,” she said gently.
Alicia looked at her, eyes dull. “He wants a divorce.”
. “What?”
“And he wants full custody of Maya.”
There was a silence.
Then Amaya slammed her hand on the table, making the coffee slosh in the cup.
“That wicked boy. After everything? After you gave him your kidney? He has the heart to kick you at your lowest? How callous can one man be?”
“I don’t have the money to fight him,” Alicia whispered. “No lawyer, no strength. Nothing.”
Amaya’s voice softened. “We’ll find a way. You don’t have to do this alone.”
Alicia shook her head. “He said she’s the only good thing that came from me. And he’ll decide when I see her.”
Amaya’s eyes welled with tears. “That bastard.”

Later that evening, Alicia found herself standing in front of her sister’s house; her house was the only place she could think of.
Becky opened the door quickly, dressed in a casual silk robe and holding a glass of wine. Her expression changed from fake surprise to soft concern in seconds.
“Sis?” she said, pulling Alicia into a hug. “I’ve been worried. You look like you haven’t slept.”
“I haven’t,” Alicia murmured.
Becky led her inside, placing the wine down. “I heard about Lucas. I’m so sorry. You deserve so much better. If I had known he was this wicked, I wouldn't have encouraged you to donate your kidney to him.”
Alicia gave a small nod, not sure how to respond.
Becky smiled and squeezed her shoulder. “You know what you need? A break. There’s a boat party tonight. Just a few people, no pressure. You need fresh air.”
“I don’t know…”
“Please. You need to forget all this for just a moment. Come, let's dress up and go.”
Alicia hesitated, but something inside her, maybe exhaustion, maybe hopelessness, gave in.
“Okay.”

The boat rocked gently as music played softly from speakers around it. Soft light reflected on the water, casting a beautiful picture.
Alicia stood on her own, reminiscing on past events, her arms wrapped around herself, eyes staring at the calm water beneath.
She didn’t drink. She didn’t dance, she just stood, thinking.
Behind her, Becky moved silently.
She looked around. No one was watching.
She picked up a thick wooden pole meant to adjust the anchor cords.
And without a word….
THUD!
Alicia gasped as something slammed into the back of her head. Her knees gave out, and she touched a hard surface; her body hit the boat.
Becky looked down, breathing heavily. Then, with quick hands, she dragged her sister’s body closer to the edge.
The water lapped quietly as if waiting.
One push, and Alicia slid into the water.
The splash was barely heard over the music.

An hour later, Lucas was sitting in his living room, going through reports, when the door burst open.
Amaya ran in, her face soaked with tears, makeup ruined by tears. Her hands trembled as she held the doorframe.
He stood immediately. “What happened?”
Amaya didn’t speak at first. She just looked at him with wild eyes.
He rushed over. “Amaya, talk to me. What’s going on?”
She swallowed hard, her voice shaking.
“We have a problem.”
“What is it?”
Amaya collapsed onto the couch, covering her mouth.
“My sister is dead.”
ALICIA/DANIELLA’S POVTWO YEARS LATERI can't believe it’s already been two years. I never imagined myself owning a diary, but here I am, writing it all down. The therapist I’ve been seeing for the past year recommended journaling, and honestly, it’s helped. I’m in a much better place now.A whole lot happened two years ago, dearest diary. Becky’s body was found close to Ethan’s house. From the investigation, it was linked to a girl named Soso, who apparently planned everything with Lucas. The judge was lenient enough to give Lucas life imprisonment. Who would have thought things would end like that?I don’t know why, but I felt sad when I learned about Becky’s death. She was someone I considered a sister for years. But she chose that path. I was tired of living in anger, so I forgave both my mum and dad. Oops! I love the sound of that. And yes, Zoe did the same. Diego acts all tough, but I know he deeply cares about our mum. I now have two step-siblings: Diego and my little pumpkin,
Alicia couldn’t tell how long they had been tied to the chairs. Her whole body ached, but it was nothing compared to the heaviness in her heart. She kept staring at Captain Smith, her mind swarming with questions. He looked too calm for the deep mess they were in. Then, the door opened.Larry walked in and said to the two men watching over them, "My father asked that I show you two something in that smaller room. Come with me."The men followed him, unaware of what was coming. Larry slowed down, let them go inside the small room, then quickly slammed the door shut and locked it. The room had been laced with chemicals strong enough to knock any human unconscious. He wasted no time pulling a small table knife from his back pocket and cutting Captain Smith loose.Captain Smith immediately began untying Alicia, who looked at Larry, confused."We have to leave now, Captain," Larry said urgently. "Before the boys outside come back. I don’t know how long my father will be gone."Captain Smit
"You are surprised to see him, right? I know. He is my son. You know, when he told me that you specifically instructed him to make sure that Daniella was shielded during the summit, and that you even made him impersonate you as the CEO..."Scar's voice echoed through the empty room."I said to myself, why would Captain Smith go to this extent to protect someone? I don't want to bore you two with long stories. But I had a DNA test carried out. Larry here made that happen, and it confirmed my suspicions."He paused, watching their reactions."He has a daughter, all along. I also know that she had her face changed and that she is a twin… Zoe."Alicia kept looking at Scar, then turned her gaze to Captain Smith, who hadn’t said a word to deny any of it. The expression on his face told her everything she needed to know. It was true. All of it.Every day felt like a discovery. Her identity, her child’s paternity, everything around her felt like a lie. What else was left? Another child? More
“They have who?” Tim asked, his voice mixed with panic. He had been watching Captain Smith’s face since he picked up that call. The expression on his face had completely shifted, darkened. Tim could tell something serious was wrong.“Scar,” Captain Smith said finally. “He has Daniella. I’ve had my men watching him for years... how could this happen? The idiot wants to see me. If he so much as touches a strand of her hair, I’ll make him join his brother.”The way he spoke, so fierce, so unlike the man Tim had known for years, sent a chill through his spine. He swallowed hard, struggling to match the calmness in his voice.“Who are these men? Who is Scar? Uncle, how did you get involved with them? They sound dangerous, and you... I’ve always known you to love peace. What do they want with Daniella? None of this is making sense. And you’re not helping by keeping me in the dark.”“I’m gradually losing my mind too, Tim,” Captain said. “It doesn’t make sense to me either. But I need you to
Alicia opened her eyes slowly to a room filled with unfamiliar faces and an even more unfamiliar atmosphere. Her head felt heavy, like she had been out for days. Then, the memory started returning, Mr. Peter, the apology, and the sudden blackout. She sat up slowly, taking in her surroundings.A man with a large scar stretching from his eyebrow to the bottom of his cheek stood nearby. The scar had been stitched up so finely it almost looked like a birthmark. His presence was unnerving."Seems like you needed the sleep," he said with a smirk. "You slept through the whole night. It’s 10 a.m. already. I must say, you are really beautiful. Took after your dad’s good gene, huh?"Alicia furrowed her brows, confused. Who was this man? She eyed him warily as he dragged a chair close to the bed and sat."My name is Scar. You are Alicia... also known as Daniella Smith."She scoffed. "You must be one of Lucas’s goons. Sent to scare me? You’re wasting your time. If you know what’s good for you, le
Bryan didn't know what to say to the woman who gave him life, and was now gradually draining it from him. Mrs. Judge was still on the floor, wailing so hard. None of the maids dared go close to them. They all stuck to their chores, pretending like they saw nothing.Just then, Judge walked in, his chauffeur carrying his suitcase behind him. He stopped abruptly when he saw his wife sobbing on the floor."What is going on, son? Why is your mum crying like this?"Bryan didn’t answer immediately. He stared hard at his father, trying to keep his voice steady."Ask your wife. She has all the answers. And while you're at it, tell her this: she should never show her face at my door or office again. If she dares, I’ll get her arrested for trespassing, and I mean every single word I just said now."Even though his tone was low, the seriousness in his words was undeniable. Both his parents felt it. He didn’t wait for a response; he left without another word.Judge hurried to his wife, helping her
