The next morning, I arrived at Blackridge with Braxton’s jacket tucked inside a bag.

I walked through the lobby, greeted the receptionist, and headed straight for Braxton’s office.

His door was slightly open.

I knocked twice before pushing it wider.

“Good morning—”

The greeting died on my tongue.

Braxton sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed on the computer screen. His jaw was tight, and one hand rested beside the keyboard while the other moved the mouse across the screen.

Something was wrong.

  • HIS OBSESSION: The Billionaire’s Little Secret.   Chapter 50

The next morning, I arrived at Blackridge with Braxton’s jacket tucked inside a bag.I walked through the lobby, greeted the receptionist, and headed straight for Braxton’s office. His door was slightly open.I knocked twice before pushing it wider.“Good morning—”The greeting died on my tongue.Braxton sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed on the computer screen. His jaw was tight, and one hand rested beside the keyboard while the other moved the mouse across the screen.Something was wrong.I’d seen him annoyed before. I’d seen him smug, amused, and irritatingly pleased with himself. This was different. There was nothing playful about his expression. His face was cold, his eyes narrowed at whatever he was reading.I stepped inside and closed the door behind me.“Braxton?”He didn’t respond.I walked toward his desk, wondering whether I should leave and come back later. But I’d already made it this far, and I wasn’t about to stand around waiting for him to notice me.I placed the bag

I stared straight ahead, annoyed with myself for making such a fuss over something so insignificant.Outside, the night air was cooler than I’d expected. I shivered before I could stop myself.Braxton noticed.Without saying anything, he removed his jacket and draped it over my shoulders.“Braxton...”“You’re shivering.”I pulled the jacket closer around myself despite my protest. It was warm, and it smelled like him—clean and unmistakably familiar after the amount of time I’d spent around him lately.I immediately decided not to think about that. The driver opened the door for me and I entered.Braxton entered from the other side.A moment later, the driver got behind the wheel, and we pulled away.“So,” Braxton said, breaking the silence, “did you enjoy dinner?”I turned to him.“Are you asking for an honest answer?”“Obviously.”“Then no.”He nodded thoughtfully. “I’ll choose somewhere better next time.”I stared at him. “Who said there would be a next time?”“I did.”“Braxton.”“R

I stole another glance at him.He was eating calmly now, as if he hadn’t just turned my entire understanding of our relationship upside down.I looked back at my plate and pushed another tomato slice aside.“Why are you always this difficult?” I asked.Braxton glanced up. “You’ll have to be more specific.”“You know exactly what I mean.”“I’m afraid I don’t.”I gave him a flat look. “You tell me you want me to be your wife, announce that you’re willing to wait until I’m ready, and then declare that I’m going to marry you as if you’ve already booked the church.”His mouth twitched.“I haven’t booked a church.”“Oh, how reassuring. At least one of us is still living in reality.”“I’m glad we agree on something.”I stared at him.Was he serious?“You know what? Forget it.”“That sounds like a sensible decision.”I nearly dropped my fork.“Braxton!”He laughed. It was brief, low, and annoyingly attractive, which only made me more irritated.“What’s so funny?” I demanded.“You.”“I’m glad

Braxton rarely raised his voice at me. He could be infuriatingly confident, unbearably stubborn, and far too fond of giving orders, but he usually delivered his words in that calm, controlled tone of his.Not this time.He was looking straight at me, his jaw tight and his eyes fixed on mine. For once, I had absolutely nothing to say.He seemed to realize how forcefully he’d spoken because his expression shifted. The tension in his jaw eased, though his gaze never left my face.“I’ve spent years searching…”He stopped. My brows drew together.Years?Searching for what?Braxton leaned back, and when he spoke again, his voice was quieter.“You’ve always been the one I want. And you will always be.”I stared at him, trying to make sense of what I was hearing. He continued before I could interrupt.“No other woman will get my attention because I don’t look at other women. I only see you.”My stomach tightened.I hated how seriously he said it.There was no teasing smile on his face. No pla

The car pulled up in front of an upscale restaurant, its tall glass windows glowing beneath the evening lights.I looked out the window, taking in the elegant entrance and the expensive cars parked nearby.Braxton stepped out first, then waited beside the car as I got out. Once I was beside him, he turned toward the entrance, leading the way inside with me walking at his side.As soon as we entered, a staff member approached us with a welcoming smile.“Good evening, sir. Your table is ready.”Braxton gave a brief nod.The staff member led us through the restaurant, past beautifully arranged tables. We stopped at a table near the windows. Two place settings were arranged neatly, and glasses of water had already been placed before the chairs. Everything was ready.I glanced at Braxton. He’d made reservations.Of course he had.He pulled out a chair for me and I sat down.Braxton sat across from me, looking completely at ease.“You could have come here yourself. Why did you have to drag

I stuck my hand between the doors before they could close completely. They slid open again. And there he was.Braxton.I stared at him as he stepped inside. He pressed the button, then turned toward me.For a moment, I waited for him to explain why he’d suddenly abandoned whatever had been keeping him glued to his desk.Instead, he asked, “Are you hungry?”I blinked. What? My eyes moved over his face, searching for some indication that he’d lost his mind.He looked perfectly serious.“I don’t know,” I answered slowly. He glanced at me.“I’m hungry. Let’s have dinner together.”I stared at him.Just like that? After spending the entire day acting as though I barely existed, he was suddenly inviting me to dinner?Maybe the business problem really was messing with his head.“All of a sudden?” I asked.“We’re having dinner together.”He said it so casually, as though we’d already discussed it and I’d agreed.Unbelievable.My peaceful day had finally come to an end.His asshole was back.I

I couldn’t focus on a damn thing all morning.Every time I tried to type another sentence, my mind went straight back to what happened in his office. His voice, his touch, the way his fingers—God. I rubbed my face and groaned quietly, trying to push the thoughts out of my head. I was supposed to b

I got home, but my head wouldn’t stop spinning. What the hell just happened back there? What does he mean by he wants to marry me instead? Who does this man think he is?After a long, hot shower, I tied my hair up, threw on a big T-shirt, and dragged myself to the kitchen to make cereal. I had just

His mouth crushed mine until he broke the kiss, pushing me back slightly, just enough to make me dizzy. My chest heaved as I whispered, breathless, “Do what you were paid for.”I slammed the door shut, dragging him back to me. But this time, he was the one in control, pinning me against the wall. H

My fiancé moaned another woman’s name while I was on top of him.It was supposed to be a celebration. His big night. A new promotion. I wanted to give him everything, and I was close, so close to my climax when the name fell from his lips.“Lisa… fuck yes.”For a second I froze, thinking maybe I ha
