AMELIA XAVIER

The ride home was awkward especially when it was father who was seated at the driver's seat taking me to Owen's place. He wore a disappointed expression On his face while trying to focus on the road. I hissed irritated that my own father was giving me the silent treatment.

“You look disappointed,” I started and that set our conversation going, but in a rather difficult direction.

“ Do I? I'm more infuriated than disappointed, Amelia,” he answered curtly and the least I did was to shrink into my seat.

“Why? Because I was in danger?”

“No. I trusted you, Amelia Xavier and you go to Paris to get head over heels with this boy who doesn't know where he stands!” He scolded increasing the speed of the car. I gasped at how high he raised his voice at me as though he had truly failed as a parent. “Father…” I made to say, but he went on, “You go to Paris to die, Amelia and you call yourself a Xavier? I sent you here to do something, but from what I'm seeing, you've lost focus

AMELIA XAVIER I remembered the scent of the Xavier's estate — flowery due to the large amount of gardens and rivers.Owen slowly halted the car as we reached father's house. A young boy stood there tapping his feet on the ground impatiently. He exuded the kind of aura father did. I smiled.“That's Milan. My brother,” I whispered loud enough for Owen to hear. I stepped out of the car before Owen came out and rushed to meet him. “Sister!” He squealed racing towards me. It hasn't even been a year and he looked taller than the last time I saw him. Milan jumped on me, and I caught him taking two steps back to keep from falling. “Father said you're coming home-” he searched around a little bit confused, so I asked.“What's wrong?”“Well, I'm looking for the bastard who hurt my sister. I've been seeing the news but father and mummy don't know,” he muttered as I dropped him. Milan inherited father's keen foresight, but Annie's soft nature. I hoped that wouldn't cause trouble for

AMELIA XAVIER I woke up to the smell of toasted bread and egg with my coffee just the way I liked it. Standing up from the bed, I went into the shower to take a quick bath and go down to meet Owen. A few minutes later, I was dressed in the most casual clothes one could wear at home and walked lazily downstairs. Owen stood in the kitchen clearing the counter. “You woke up quite early, pumpkin,” he said leaning in to give me a kiss. I chuckled, wrapping my arm around his hard waist. I allowed my body to feel his muscles and I leaned closer, warming myself in his embrace. “I'm happy everything I came to Paris to do has been settled, now I'll just have to spend the entire year with you doing absolutely nothing,” I squealed, squeezing him tightly. Owen smiled, patting my hair as though I were a child. “Let's have breakfast now, pumpkin, I have work to do today.”“Killjoy,” I teased, breaking free from him. As we walked to the dining, Owen's phone vibrated and he answered witho

AMELIA XAVIER The drive to Kayla's estate was more like two buses from Owen's place. I stared out the window watching as the trees and people passed by as Owen drove. The sun shone brightly outside and the clouds were clear. I bubbled with excitement at finally fulfilling my mission. “You’re excited,” Owen noticed and I blushed bright pink. “Well, I'm going to get done with my mission and spend the rest of my time with you,” I cheered watching a lady scold her daughter. Owen shrugged, he didn't seem happy going to Kayla's place. “I can tell you don't look pleased about going there,” I accused sinking into the seat. “I'm not. Kayla owes me a favour-” he made a quick turn before continuing.“I can't really explain the details but I escaped poisoning from her… I think she has this deadly crush on me, you know, when you like someone so much that you want them dead,” he explained, his eyes not leaving the road. I cracked my knuckles processing Owen's words. Kayla had a weird

OWEN WINTERS Two days passed and I hadn't said a word to Amy. I still felt a sense of betrayal after what she did and avoiding her was the best thing to do. I sat in my study looking at the blank screen in front of me. Work wasn't on my mind and for those two days, I spent most time playing games or talking with the board members about Lyon's alliance. I couldn't stay angry with Amy and she knew it and probably that was the reason she still hadn't come to apologize.I let out a deep sigh unsure of what to do. “Maybe I'm just avoiding her a little too much. That isn't healthy for the baby,” I murmured typing random words on the computer. Just then, Amy came in after knocking. I wanted so badly to look up at her and tell her I'm sorry for avoiding her, but it took my entire week's strength not to say anything nor to look her way.She came closer to me and shut my computer. “What the fuck?”“Owen,” she called massaging behind her ear which meant lack of sleep. I felt guilty a

OWEN WINTERSThe wedding hall stood decorated with white roses.I felt nauseous.Amy hadn't spoken to me since morning, she was angry and disappointed and God knew how much I wanted to tell her, but it was a surprise so I let her avoid me. I walked into the hall, watching the congregation as they stared down at me wishing they were the bride or probably pitying the innocent girl who was tossed into greedy men's ambitions. A small smile played on my lips as I marched in. I took extra care of my hair and face and tried to look my best which annoyed Amy even more. I sighted her in front and immediately our gaze met, she turned away. I gripped the flower in my hands tight, holding myself. I stopped at the altar staring down at the bouquet of white roses in my hand. The wedding brought a memory I was so fond of yet had tried to push it down to the back of mind where memories I wished not to remember stayed. The day I kissed Amelia Xavier and left for Paris promising father I would

OWEN WINTERS A night to the wedding. This night determined everything. My plan was in place and all that remained was to execute them. I sat by the pool waiting for Lucille to show up. She was three minutes late and I didn't blame her, if someone told me to pack all I could and to inform my girlfriend to do so without giving me a reason, I would hesitate. I chuckled at my lie knowing who I was. Lucille was Lucille after all. Just then I saw her figure as she walked towards my direction. A small bag in hand. “You're getting smart, I can see,” I said and she shrugged standing in front of me. I stood straightening my trousers. “You're late.”“I'm just three minutes late, Mr. Aren't you the one who comes late just to make an entrance?” She fired back, making me throw my head in laughter. “You're clearly obsessed with me,” I said. She rolled her eyes before replying, “The only thing I'm obsessed about is leaving!” The time on my watch said 11:00 pm, which meant time wasted.
