Kevin pulled over in front of his glorious mansion and got out, his hair a little messy, longer strands of it flawlessly falling on his forehead complimenting his grey eyes. The black shirt he was wearing was partially untucked from his pants, and only a few of its buttons were fastened. Seeing him, the chauffeur jogged over to the other side of the car and hurried to open the passenger door for the lady, but there was no one inside. Instead, he spotted a petite figure lying in the backseat. The chauffeur seemed surprised but quickly flung open the back door for Kevin and took a step back waiting for his order. "Leave!" Kevin commanded not wanting another man to see her in such an exposed and vulnerable state. Bending down, Kevin covered her bare shoulders with his huge jacket and picked her up in his arms, her head resting on his chest and it was surprising but his heart began beating excruciatingly fast with the mere contact. Kevin felt his body tingle as her slow, warm breaths
"He was here last night," Mina let out and looked at Emma who was standing by her side, placing the Orchids in the vase with a subtle smile on her lips. She was happy for Mina. Emma was aware of Mina's intense desire to be a mother and have babies, but despite several tries, misfortune always prevailed and Mina was unable to conceive."Who?" Emma asked softly, not understanding to whom Mina was alluding."Your hus-" Mina paused for a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking. "Mr. Smith. He was here last night."Shivers ran down her spine hearing his name. Emma's smile faded and her body froze, fingers still clasping the fragile flowers. She gazed at Mina, puzzled, and her palms grew cold with fear. Seeing the obvious dread on Emma's face Mina gently grasped her hand and drew her onto the bed."The doctor tried reaching you but he answered the phone. Don't worry, we're okay. He meant no harm. Frankly speaking, we might have had some difficulties if he hadn't shown up."Emma blink
Once the meeting was over, Kevin walked out of his private chamber and proceeded to the bar. A loud sigh of relief escaped his parched lips as he loosened his tie and unfastened the top button of his white shirt. Work has been quite stressful lately. It's a fallacy that success brings ease. The more successful you are, the harder you have to work. Leaning against the counter, his gray eyes looked around at the people dancing and having fun. Youngblood, feral desires. His gaze was soon drawn towards Alex who just walked out of one of the private rooms. "How's the meeting?" He asked as soon as he got closer. Kevin gave him a dubious glance, not appreciating his negligence at work which was the sole reason they were there. "I reckon you do remember why we're here," Kevin taunted and ordered a scotch."Come on, she's so tempting. How could I say no to her," Alex winked as he reached for tequila from the bar."Man, she's wild," Ivan chuckled, and Kevin's gaze followed him, only to see
A minute later, Kevin was interrupted by a sexy voice. When he returned his gaze to the source, he noticed a brunette in a short provocative dress staring at him. She seemed familiar, but he couldn't place her precisely, feeling his head a bit too preoccupied with Emmeline."Olivia, you forgot already? We met in London a few months back." Seeing his distress, the woman introduced herself and Kevin smiled as he remembered her finally. They had spent a couple of nights together and there was no doubt that they both enjoyed each other's company. After indulging in some irrelevant conversation she finally asked what she wanted. "It's too loud here, let's go to your room," she suggested, grabbing his muscular arm. Kevin locked his gaze on Alex, then on Ivan, who had insisted all night that he was in love. He had to show them, and perhaps himself too, that he wasn't. Kevin took her hand and led her upstairs and into his room without a moment of hesitation. The minute the door closed, h
Mind racing with scattered memories and gluing them back together he tried to comprehend the turn of events that happened to him since the day he met her. He's changing and it's frustrating. Irrational. Absolutely ridiculous. As soon as Kevin entered his mansion following a five-day business tour, all heads bowed in unison. It's midnight. "Would you like to eat dinner, Sir?" Amanda asked politely as she hurried forward to take his coat, but he refused."Has she eaten dinner?" Kevin asked, his gaze drawn to the closed door of her room, only to find it besieged with darkness. She must be sleeping. "Yes, Sir!" Amanda responded, unsurprised by his concern for her. It's now become a habit. He always asks her about Emma. Kevin hummed and returned his gaze to the closed door. Even though he had returned earlier for Emma, just to see her, feel her, and hold her in his arms, Kevin made his way to his study room, wanting to banish her thoughts that had been troubling him. He was thinking a
The rain started around six in the evening. Sparkling raindrops were continually tapping against the glass pane, creating an entrancing and serene acoustic thrumming sound. Emma was alone in the living room, staring out the huge glass window that overlooked the garden. The view was exquisite. The sky looked darker and gloomier. Hypnotic even! The eerie silence, the swaying trees, and the raindrops hitting and dripping off the leaves before soaking into the ground could pull one into a trance. Emma ensconced herself in the woolen blanket and sat on the sofa, her legs up. She had been downstairs since morning. Had helped the maids in the kitchen, talked to James for an hour, gone for an afternoon stroll in the garden, and was now sitting alone watching the clouds pour furiously. For her, it was better than staying alone with him in the room. He was home today. Had awoken a couple of hours ago which was unusual for the man as he was an early riser and usually gets up before her. When
When the clock struck eight, the maids began arranging the dinner table, while outside, a gentle drizzle continued. "I missed your coffee, Amanda," Kate said with a smile, taking her seat next to her daughter, Ivy, who couldn't help but gaze at Emma."Mother, she's pretty," Ivy whispered but voice carried a bit more than intended, causing everyone in the room to smile. Kate nodded and caressed her daughter's chubby cheeks. "Yes, darling, she is."Soon his footsteps reverberated, catching everyone's attention. Kevin walked in the dining room having just showered and dressed formally. He glanced at the women waiting for him and took a seat next to Emma, causing a brief flutter of nervousness within her. Even though they've been married for more than a month, they haven't dined together like this. As the dinner began, Kate kept talking about how busy she was in London and expressing regret that she couldn't make it to their wedding. Meanwhile Kevin didn't say much but occasionally hum
Mind racing, body aching, laying under the crinkled silk sheets all naked, with a cigarette gently clasped in his hand he looked outside the glass door, eyes taking in her details. She was sleeping on the couch again. Her petite figure nestled on the small seat like a fragile bud awaiting spring's arrival. Droplets of water from her freshly washed hair danced down, their journey ending within the folds of her white nightgown. Kevin shook his head affectionately, a gentle chuckle escaping his lips with wispy puffs of gray smoke. She's all washed and dressed up. She always does that. Never allow his touch or scent to linger on her body. Never slept beside him unclothed. In all honesty, she rarely stayed in bed once their passionate encounters came to a close. Whenever Kevin stayed for the night, he always found her on the balcony. There's no denying that her distant behavior bothered him.Kevin took a long drag from his cigarette feeling a tumultuous mix of frustration, longing and
