Escape.

Leila's POV.

I woke up immediately and I heard the door open. I scrambled to the end of the cell room.

Alpha Darren stalked in, staring at me with a menacing grin.

“Well, look who's here.” he said, as if that was all I needed to know.

I staggered into a standing position, feeling weak, he grabbed me by the hair as he pulled me out from my cell and shoved me outside.

I tried to walk forward, but my legs were trembling too much to do so. He yanked on my hair once more, making me yelp as pain shot up my back, his fingers digging into my scalp.

My vision blurred, and I felt something warm run down my face. Blood.

He dragged me down the hall and into another cell. I stumbled into him and almost fell to the floor.

“Please stop this.” I pleaded, that only earned a laugh from him.

“This is little compared to what your dad has ever done.”

“What did he do?” I asked shakily, I swallowed nervously, wondering where I got the courage from.

“Many things, many things I'll do to his daughter, what I'm doing to you is half of what he did.” He chuckled darkly.

Suddenly, he slammed me against the wall, causing me to cry out in pain, his large hand wrapped around my throat and squeezed tight. My vision went black as I felt the air leave my lungs.

A sudden cold feeling ran through my body, causing my eyes to fly open, I coughed loudly as I sat upright. The last thing I remembered was Alpha Darren holding on to me and laughing maniacally as he choked the life out of me.

*******

I took in my surroundings and realized I was still in the empty cell room.

There was a small window in one of the walls and several metal bars running across it, the cell itself looked to be in terrible shape.

I sighed as I sat up, thinking about what happened in the past hour before I fainted.

I closed my eyes and pictured what Alpha Darren had told me, everything came rushing back to me like a dam bursting.

I couldn't believe what he said about my father, he wasn't always around but the little time I had with him, he was a nice father.

My mom also loved him, and she never said something bad about him, I was very sure Alpha Darren was merely bluffing.

I didn't know what to do, but I knew that I needed to escape, he was serious about hurting me and won't stop.

At least my first mate rejected me, Alpha Darren didn't reject me, he wanted me to feel the pain of my mate doing this to me.

I stood up unsteadily, my head spinning and my body trembling, there was no way I could make it through this if I kept sitting down without doing anything.

My wolf was fragile, it lost its voice from whining so much from the pain.

I looked around seeing no one, I sauntered forward, leaning on the bars trying to steady myself, I was scared, I hadn't thought about what would happen when I escaped, but I knew it wouldn't be good.

I started limping, every step sending daggers of pain throughout my injured body, every step caused even more pain which made it harder for me to continue.

I reached the other side of the room and collapsed in front of the bars. I laid down staring at them, wondering how I would even get them off.

I slowly started pushing myself upwards, using the bars as support.

One hand held on to the other, I managed to stand, then I leaned against the bars.

Now I just had to find a way to get out.

The pain from the wounds I had made me feel like giving up, but I couldn't stay here anymore.

All I could think was that I needed to get out before he came again to punish me.

I carried the hairpin I kept clutching for days, picking at the lock. I was starting to regret keeping the pin now as it was difficult for me to do it.

My fingers began to shake as I finally broke the lock and pushed the bars apart, I slipped through quickly, not bothering to close the bars behind me.

Once I was clear, I turned around looking up at the ceiling, the sound of my heart beating echoed in my head, I could hear it louder than ever.

I let out a sigh of relief before turning around and heading towards freedom.

I didn't care that I might get hurt, this would be better than being stuck in here any longer.

If he caught me now I'd surely die, I didn't want to risk getting caught or losing my chance at freedom, I had to get away.

I forced myself to walk, hiding from the guards I saw, I could hear footsteps everywhere, but I carefully kept myself hidden as much as possible.

I was exhausted, my body burned with exhaustion, my muscles trembled, and my legs felt numb.

I stopped when I realized they had passed me.

I was alone.

I looked up into the sky, it seemed endless, I could see no clouds.

The stars sparkled brightly in the sky, and the moon shone bright in the night sky.

The cool breeze brushed my skin and the smell of flowers surrounded me.

I suddenly realized I had no idea where I was going, I couldn't afford to rest yet, someone was bound to see me wandering aimlessly.

I clutched my torn cloth tightly as I heard footsteps again, this time coming from somewhere near me.

I moved closer to the wall hoping to hide, I hoped whoever it was, wasn't looking in my direction.

The footsteps grew louder, I closed my eyes tightly as I waited for the impact of a kick against my ribs, but nothing happened.

I cautiously opened an eye, my heart pounding in my chest, adrenaline pumping through me.

I was about heaving a sigh of relief when I didn't hear the sound of footsteps anymore, then suddenly a figure appeared in front of me.

“Gotcha.” Alpha Darren dragged me backwards by my hair.

“Let me go!” I cried as I struggled against his grip.

“It will only make it worse, and then we'll just have to do it all over again.” He growled in my ear.

“You're lucky I don't kill you right now.” He spat.

“Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?” I asked desperately, he only glared at me, his nostrils flaring.
