Leila's POV.

The head slave glared at me, my heart thumped, I didn't know what she wanted, but I hoped I didn't do anything wrong.

"The alpha met me." She started, I clutched my clothes tightly,  trying to stop my shaking hands.

"He said you'll be his personal slave and it looks like you don't understand the meaning of that word." She stalked closer to me.

Her face was red from anger and her dark eyes glittered with malice. I flinched but kept silent. "You are not worthy of being a wolf. You've been brought here by mistake or some foul means of trickery on Alpha's part, but you are making him complain to me, I've worked with slaves under me without complaints."

"I'll show you the consequence of disobedience." She added.

She reached out to grab one of my wrists, pulling me towards her so fast I tripped over myself as I stumbled backwards in shock."What do you mean?"  I blurted before she could grab me again. My heart beat harder in fear.

"He reported that you didn't clean his room yesterday and didn't clean his office." She added.

I sighed, I didn't want to go to Alpha's room because I was still upset about what happened, I purposely avoided that place.

I couldn't stand the sight of seeing him and remembering how mean he is to me.

"I'm sorry, I'll report from today." I pleaded.

I heard the head slave was very strict and I didn't want any issue, I wanted to just do my job as a slave.

"I know you are ,but you have to be punished for it." She smirked.

She dragged me by the arm towards a cell in the slave quarters.

I struggled but eventually gave up. She grabbed my wrist and tied something around my wrist that kept the cuffs together.

I landed in an uncomfortable heap, my head hit the wall behind me painfully. The metal clanked on my shoulder.  I looked up, the ceiling had bars across it.

My shoulders tensed, this wasn't good. Not good at all.

"You'll be in confinement till you learn your lesson." She added.

"But -"

"No excuses!" She shouted and walked away closing the door with a loud clunk.

The cell was dark except for the dim light above the door that showed the outline of my body.

Tears formed in my eyes, I felt horrible.  I didn't deserve punishment. I don't know why he hated me.

I tried to stand up, groaning in pain from my throbbing shoulder.

Why did the alpha think he could treat me like this?

What did I ever do to make him hate me so much?

I tried to think of what I did wrong, but nothing came to mind.

I sat back down on the floor and held my head between my hands, rubbing my temples.

I squeezed my eyes closed and took deep breaths to try to calm myself down.

If the head slave didn't come back for me soon, I would pass out from hunger.

After what seemed like forever, there was a noise outside the cell door.

"Get ready." The head slave ordered outside.

There were shuffling sounds as footsteps approached my cage then the doors opened slowly.

"Come out." She said unchaining me.

I stood up almost stumbling, my muscles screamed in protest. I rubbed my sore shoulder with my other hand.

The head slave pulled me to my feet and led me down the hallway and into another large hallway.

"You'll work here today." She opened a door, and I gaped at the amount of work I saw there.

There were tables of different sizes filled with tools that looked way too dangerous.

There were stacks of wood and nails in different shapes and sizes, piles of dirt, dust, and debris, and many more items I couldn't even identify.

It looked like there was never a second day since the construction started. I felt overwhelmed by everything I saw.

"Arrange everything." She ordered.

"I want you doing every single thing on here until I tell you otherwise." She told me.

"When you're done, you'll eat." She added walking out.

I worked fast, hoping to finish everything, I worked as hard as I could.

Sweat poured off of me and I collapsed on the floor, exhaustion washing over me.  It had only been two hours but it felt like a whole month.

I felt hot and sticky, I wiped the sweat from my forehead and hair.

I laid down next to my pile of work, breathing heavily.

My mouth tasted awful and I needed water desperately.

I sighed in relief when I finished working, I rushed out immediately.

I reached the kitchen, and the cook handed my food to me, I thanked her and quickly ate the food.

I sighed in satisfaction, I finished my meal and headed towards the baths.

I stripped out of my clothes and washed myself.

Once I was done, I dried myself and put the clothes back on. I wrapped my hair in a towel and went outside to walk around for a little while. When I turned around I saw the Alpha.

I gasped in shock, my heart beating fast,my chest pounding from fear and excitement.

I don't know why I got excited, with all he did to me, I don't understand why I would smile.

He walked out quickly, not sparing me a glance, I didn't blame him.

My heart tugged painfully, and tears pricked my eyes as I watched his retreating figure, I felt alone and helpless.

I hated him so much already,, but as my mate my heart beats for him.

I sighed in frustration as the tears I couldn't help fell, my vision blurred and a lump formed in my throat.

I couldn't control myself anymore, it was as if my body moved on its own.

My knees buckled and I fell down on the dusty ground, my heart beating loudly as the tears continued. A sob escaped my lips as my entire body shook with emotion.

Leila's POV.I groaned as the incessant knocking on the door jolted me awake from my peaceful slumber. Rubbing my eyes, I stumbled out of bed and made my way to the door, struggling to shake off the lingering remnants of sleep.I swung open the door to reveal a young maid standing on the other side. Her hair was neatly pulled back into a tight bun, and her eyes darted nervously around the room. She curtsied before me, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke."By Alpha's orders, I have been sent to get you ready for the celebration, ma'am," she announced, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's the mating ceremony today."Confusion washed over me like a cold wave, and I frowned, trying to gather my thoughts. Mating ceremony?"What... what ceremony?" I stammered, my voice still laced with drowsiness."The mating ceremony, ma'am," the maid repeated, her eyes widening. "You and Alpha Darren's he had been preparing for it all day"My heart skipped a beat at the realization. How could I h

Darren's POV.I stepped into the kitchen, the savory aroma of freshly cooked food wafting through the air. It had been a long day, but I wanted to make sure Leila had a proper meal. She deserved something special, something that would nourish her body and lift her spirits. As I glanced around the kitchen, my eyes settled on the ingredients neatly arranged on the countertop. It was time to create a healthy and delicious dinner for my mate.I started by selecting a vibrant array of vegetables. Bright red tomatoes, crisp green lettuce, and vibrant orange carrots caught my attention.I carefully washed and chopped them, the sharp knife slicing through the vegetables with precision. Next, I reached for a head of cauliflower and broke it into florets, ready to be roasted to perfection. With the vegetables prepared, I turned my attention to the protein. I had bought fresh salmon, knowing that the omega-3 fatty acids would be beneficial for Leila and our unborn child. I seasoned them with a d

And then, like a dam breaking, my memories flooded back, crashing into my consciousness with the force of a tidal wave.I remembered meeting the healer and all, I just know the memory didn't leave. Shantel. The name echoed in my mind, carrying with it the terror of the past few days. I had been kidnapped by her and the witch, held against my will in a nightmarish ordeal.Tears welled up in my eyes as I allowed myself to fully comprehend the gravity of the situation. The Moon goddess had spared my life, and for that, I was eternally grateful, I'm sure she sent the blasting moon to kill them. The room seemed simultaneously comforting and alien. The familiar sights and sounds of my sanctuary took on ne

Leila's POV.Opening my eyes, staring at the healer as she cleaned off my bruises, applying ointment on it as the memories of Shantel's wickedness dawned on me.I felt so proud of myself for surviving all the pains and all the torture I received in the hands of that monster Shantel.I remembered how the Alpha carried immediately when he saw me there. She made my life a living hell, my child was my hope and my strength so I had to survive.I would have been devastated if I had lost my child to Shantel's torture, even at the expense that she doesn't know that I'm pregnant her torture was enough to kill a mother and her child."Whoever did this to you must be hell bent on having you dead" The healer said as she slowly rubbed the ointment on my legs."Oh she's definitely hell bent on killing me and Alpha Darren, she's a monster. You should have seen what she did to me. This is just because the wounds were healing." I uttered hastily, trying hard to shade off the thoughts of Shantel becau

"It's dangerous out there,we got hurt when we came back."Aidan stuttered, knowing that his words would get me pissed. Truly his words got me pissed to some point, I lost my appetite for even eating this beautiful meal."I don't care... Besides it's the reason I want to rescue her out of the hands of Shantel" I retorted in a manner that he understood that he had to think about his words before saying it to me to avoid my wrath."Having you in the hands of Shantel would mean her gaining full victory over you and her plan could be to
