Nadia's pov

Cool air brushed over my arm as someone tugged at the soaked bandages. I wanted to cry out, but all that came was a low groan. My lashes fluttered, struggling to lift, and through the haze I caught the glint of a needle.

Then pressure. A sting, sharp and swift, pushing into my skin. The warmth of liquid seeping into my veins.

My lips moved before I even thought of the words. “Anesthesia…” The whisper cracked, fragile, and drifted away with the pounding of my heartbeat.

My body grew heavier, the edges of the world dissolving into black. The voices around me blurred, urgency replaced by a distant hum, as if the room itself were fading.

Still, in that sliver of awareness before the dark took me, I clenched onto a single thought: Don’t let go… not yet.

Elara's pov

I stood frozen in the corner, my hands clenched so tightly my nails dug into my palms. My chest heaved as I watched them lay Nadia on the table, her face pale, lips trembling with words that barely made sense.

Nadia's pov A sharp hiss escaped me as pain shot up my arm, white-hot and merciless. I clutched my hand, but the strain from climbing had torn the wound wide open again. Warm blood seeped through the bandage, dripping down my sleeve, soaking it a deeper red.“Elara…” My voice cracked, weak, barely carrying. My chest felt tight, each breath shallow.I saw her freeze, panic flickering across her face. Her hands twisted at her cloak as if she could wring out an answer. For a moment, she just stared, and I could see the terror in her eyes the same terror I felt crawling inside me.My knees buckled, and she caught me, guiding me toward the shadows of a corner. I sagged against the wall, the rough stone cold against my back.“Stay here,” she whispered, her voice trembling but sharp with urgency. “Don’t move. I’ll… I’ll find someone, a doctor, anyone.”I pressed my palm to the wound, groaning as the pressure sent sparks of pain racing through me. “Hurry…” I breathed, every drop of blood tha

Nadia's pov Nadia’s breath came sharp and shallow as she peeled his heavy arm off her waist and let it drop to the bed. He was still unconscious, his broad chest rising and falling in shallow breaths, but she knew it wouldn’t last forever. The moment anyone outside realized their leader wasn’t in control, all hell would break loose. She paced the small room, biting down on her lip, mind racing. She couldn’t just slip out not with Elara waiting outside, surrounded by wolves drunk on laughter and power. If she left her, Elara wouldn’t last a heartbeat. Her gaze darted to the door. She forced her shoulders to relax, adjusted the shawl back into place, and smoothed her blouse as though nothing had happened. A plan began to form, risky but the only chance they had.Drawing in a deep breath, she pushed the door open just a crack, poking her head out. The guards turned, grinning like jackals.Nadia softened her voice, sultry and sweet, dripping with allure.“Your boss,” she said, her tone s

Nadia's pov The room smelled of wine and musk, the lanterns casting a low amber glow against the walls. He lay sprawled across the bed, his shirt discarded carelessly on the floor, his back broad and scarred from old battles. His men laughed faintly outside the door, but the room itself was still, almost suffocating.“Take off the shawl too,” he said, glancing over his shoulder at me. His tone was smug, commanding, as though he were already certain I belonged to him.My stomach tightened. If I obeyed, he would see clearly the noble face painted across every wanted board and whisper through every tavern. One glimpse, and I would be dragged out like a prize to the slaughter. But I smiled instead. Slow. Dangerous.“Why rush, Alpha?” I purred, my voice soft as velvet. I let the shawl drape lazily over my shoulders, trailing down my arms. “Some things… are better left to the imagination.”I moved closer, letting my fingers trail across the ridges of his back. His body stiffened under my t

Varic's pov “Is Nadia back?” My voice came out hoarse, weaker than I intended. The maid lowered her gaze, shaking her head. “No, sir. If she were, I would have informed you immediately.”A heavy sigh escaped me. I tried to push myself up, but my limbs trembled, my strength threatening to give out. She rushed forward, slipping an arm beneath mine to steady me.“Stand back,” I rasped, shaking my head. “I have to do this myself.”Hesitantly, she obeyed, retreating just enough to hover at my side. My body protested every movement, my chest burning with every shallow breath, but I forced myself upright. The world swayed, spots clouding my vision, yet I did not yield. At last, I managed to sit, leaning forward as a cough tore through me, sharp and rattling.“Sorry, sir,” she whispered, quickly offering me a cup of water.I accepted it with shaking hands, sipping slowly until the dryness in my throat eased. I set the cup aside and nodded faintly. “Thank you.” A pause. “I need to have a meet
