Chapter 12

Author: C.Emmzy
Serena's POV

The ceremony was beautiful.

I looked at myself in the mirror. The white ceremony dress fit perfectly. My mother had insisted on getting me a new one, something that had never been worn before, that had no memories attached to it.

The dress was elegant, it was nothing like the dress I had worn for Kael's ceremonies. This one was fit for a Luna.

"You look stunning," Claire said from behind me. She had arrived this morning, and I had been so relieved to see her. I had explained everything that happened with Kael, with Lyra, with the pup.

"I'm so nervous," I admitted, touching the small bump of my stomach through the dress.

"That's completely normal," my mother said, adjusting my veil carefully. Her eyes were wet with tears as she looked at me. "But you're making the right choice, sweetheart. Williams is a good man. A man who will treat you the way you deserve to be treated."

I nodded, my hand still resting on my stomach. The pup was still small, barely showing, but I could fe

  • He Chose Her for the Third Time, and I Walked Away   Chapter 15

Kael's POVI was seething with rage so intense I could barely see straight. How dare they treat me like that? How dare they throw me out like common trash? How dare Williams put his hands on me, humiliate me in front of all those people? How dare Serena choose him over me?She was mine. She had always been mine. She was carrying my pup. We belonged together. The guards had deposited me roughly at the border of my pack territory before returning to their pack.I stumbled back toward my pack house, drained and exhausted and barely able to stay on my feet. My body was shutting down from the lack of food and sleep and the physical exertion of running for miles. But my mind was racing with several plans.I just needed to get my strength back. Then I would return for Serena. Maybe I could gather my warriors and invade the Nightshade Pack, maybe take Serena by force if necessary. She would understand eventually. Once I got her away from Williams and her parents, once I got her alone, she woul

  • He Chose Her for the Third Time, and I Walked Away   Chapter 14

Serena's POVI stared at Kael as he stood before me.He looked terrible. His clothes were dirty and torn, like he had been rolling in the dirt. His hair was a complete mess, sticking up in all directions. His eyes were bloodshot and wild, with dark circles underneath like he hadn’t slept. He looked like he hadn't eaten properly in weeks. He looked like a man who was falling apart. But I felt nothing.Whatever I had once felt for this man had died. It had died the moment I saw him with his hand on Lyra's pregnant belly, looking at her with more love than he had ever shown me. It had died when he slapped me across the face for her lies. It had died during those long, cold nights in the guest room while he was with her in our bedroom."Please say something," Kael whispered, his voice shaking desperately. "Anything. Yell at me. Hit me. Curse me out. Just... please. Don't look at me like that. Like I'm nothing to you."I took a breath, keeping my voice calm and steady. "I thought you had a

Kael's POVThe car broke down about thirty miles from the Nightshade Pack territory. The engine had simply given out, with smoke pouring from under the hood. I had tried to shift, to let my wolf carry me the rest of the way, but my wolf was too weak, due to days of not eating or sleeping properly. My wolf blamed me for losing Serena. He had retreated deep inside, refusing to help me for neglecting our true mate.So I had to run on foot, in human form for miles and miles. My lungs burned with every breath I took. My legs ached with every step, and my vision blurred from the tiredness. But I couldn't stop.I had to get to her before it was too late, before she bonded with another man and I lost her forever. When I finally reached the Nightshade Pack borders, the guards had tried to stop me, but I had evaded them, using the little strength I had to slip past their defensesI burst into the ceremony hall just as the Elder was about to complete the bonding. I was just on time.Relief floode

Kael’s POVI was losing my mind.It had been a week since Serena left, and I hadn’t slept properly since. I barely ate. I couldn’t focus on anything except finding her.Derek had been searching nonstop, but so far, he had gotten nothing. It was like she had vanished into thin air.I sat in my office, staring blankly at the paperwork in front of me. The words blurred together. I couldn’t concentrate. My mind kept drifting back to her.I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes, and immediately, the memories came flooding back.So many times I had sat in this office, lost in alpha duties, working late into the night. And Serena would appear in the doorway with a tray of food and that gentle smile on her face“Kael, you need to eat,” she would say softly.“I’m busy, Sera. I’ll eat later.”But she would never leave. She would set the food down on my desk and wait patiently until I took at least a few bites. Then she would convince me to take a break, to shower, to rest.“You can’t take c

  • He Chose Her for the Third Time, and I Walked Away   Chapter 10

Serena’s POVOne week had passed since I left Kael’s pack and never looked back.I stood in front of the floor-length mirror in my old bedroom, looking at my reflection. The room was exactly as I had left it six years ago. My mother had kept everything the same.It was like stepping back in time. There was a soft knock on the door.“Sera? Can I come in?” My mother’s voice was gentle.“Yes, Mom.”My mother, Luna Helena, entered, carrying a tray with tea and some light snacks. She set it down on the table and looked at me with concern.“How are you feeling this morning?” she asked.I touched my stomach instinctively. “The nausea is better today.”She smiled, though her eyes still looked worried. “That’s good. You need to eat something. You’re eating for two now.”I sat down on the bed and picked up one of the crackers from the tray. My mother sat beside me, watching me carefully.“Your father and I have been talking about the ceremony next week.” She said.I nodded slowly. The marking ce
