Cassia’s POV

I sat in the stillness of the room. All the decorations Magnus had done, draped at every corner of the room. It still looked perfect even when my life was almost in scrambles.

Just when I thought everything was going to be finally perfect…..boom….the universe turned against me—the same way it has been doing since the day I was born.

Right now. I would've preferred to be accused of being in a scandal with Valentine, at least I wouldn't be the first.

But this….

Murder?

That's a drastic turn of event.

Just then my phone buzzed. The light glowed softly on the screen. My heart thudded softly on my chest, as my hands scrambled to pick it up. “Jess.”

“We have a much bigger problem on our hands Luna. We have an angry mob outside the building.”

“Angry Mob?”

“They are members of the Beacon Moon pack, and Luna..” Her voice dropped to a whisper, “They’ve broken into the office building.”

“What!” I rose to my feet. “Uhhmm…are you okay? Are the other staff okay?”

“No. Luna. Th

Jasmine’s POV “You are making empty treats. Talon would never believe your lies. He loves me more than he ever loved you.” I screamed into the phone. But only heard a deafening silence at the other end of the speaker. What the….She hung up? Some balls she has grown. As for Talon, how could he? So he's been lying to me all this while? When he’d told me he saw Cassia again in an event. He’d told me she was now a different. More confident. More formidable. Nothing like the innocent Cassia I remembered. To think it's just been one year since she left. When I heard about her scandal a few days ago. I was more than excited. I have hated that bitch since forever. Ever since her mother came between my mum and my father. After my father married her mother, Agnes, for 5 years, she died. I found ways to convince my father to take my mother back, so she could take care of us both. My father would do anything for that bitch and her mother. It annoyed me. Made me jealous.I can still remember

Cassia’s POVThat was it.Nothing else? How did it even get in here? This is just a game. It has to be. Maybe one of the reporters could have slipped in when my car was parked at the hospital.Or slipped it in, when Magnus and I went inside? My mind buzzed with different thoughts and questions. But with a single understanding I successfully warded them off—No one could come into this compound without the guards catching wind of it.I walked back inside on legs that felt like jelly and a face that didn't have any of the excitement I had earlier. It's been three days since the shoot out happened. To think all would have blown over by now. But no. It got worse. Every media station had something to contribute. All lies obviously. A lot of negatives. Some positives. Others weren't sure which side of the crossfires they belonged to. Or maybe they were just scared. Scared of Magnus’s wrath. My face was on the cover of every magazine. I had to wear sunglasses everywhere I went. Our investo

Cassia’s POV “You didn't at least wait for me to wake up? Before you start making decisions like this?” He seethed.“I did what I thought was right. I don't care if I get hurt, but if other people got hurt because of me, I don't think I can ever deal with that,” “We had ten injured staff at the company.” I couldn't even do anything to save them. Simply because I am wolfless. My revenge on my freak of a sister, Jasmine has been put on hold too. Everyday her name crosses my mind. It gnaws at my skin, threading to shred it into pieces. I have to be ready when I face her, when I finally give her a dose of her medicine. But now, I’ll focus on keeping Magnus healthy. He means so much to me now. I can't lose anyone anymore. Not when I can do something to stop it. “Don't be saying nonsense like that ever again. You hear me? And stop making pack decisions alone. I care if you get hurt. You should too. In life and death situations I expect you to put yourself first. ” “That's the exact

Magnus’s POV He was going to shoot. I could see the intent from where I stood. The way his fingers tightened around the trigger. The way his lips curled at the edges, tippling up slightly to mirror his dark intentions.I’d rather die for her than be alive without her. “Cassia,” I thundered, warning thick in my voice. She was frozen. Just stood there like a monument used for target practice. I bolted on instinct, Maximus aiding my speed. My body slammed into hers like a violent wave hitting the shore. Pain exploded in my lower back. Piercing. Burning. And something else……something vile and poisonous.Another round of pain grounded my nerves as we hit the floor. I was hot all over. The pain spread within me like a wildfire. Like tiny needles pricking my skin, all at once. Normal bullets aren't supposed to hurt this much….Unless…..Silver bullets coated in wolfsbane. They meant to kill her…they never wanted to ‘just’ talk. They didn't come for ‘just’ their Alpha’s body. Even in dea

Magnus's POV“Did you do it? Did you kill him, Magnus.” As I stared at her beautiful face, a glint of anger sparkled within me. Why did she care so much about a man she’d just met. Why was she staring at me with distrust in her eyes, like she had written me off in her mind that I’d done it but still wanted to convince herself I didn't. Did she have so little faith in me?“I’m a bit disappointed in the amount of trust you have for me, Pumpkin. I may be ruthless but not reckless. People I have killed deserved it.” I cupped her warm cheeks, her eyes sparkled under the soft light. “If I killed him. I wouldn't be a coward about it. You know me that much,” She looked deeply in my eyes, then blinked, baring her hands on her waist and her forehead. “I..I’m sorry….I’m just…overwhelmed right now. This just happened all of a sudden and the media blaming me for it, is just driving my mind into a dark corner.” Her voice cracked, tears threatening to break out. “Shhh, hey. Come here.” I pull
