Chapter 3

Author: 丘丘
I didn’t answer a single one of his calls.

Unable to hold back any longer, Blake stormed into the room with bloodshot eyes, his expression almost feral.

He struggled to control his heavy breathing as he stared straight into my eyes.

“Erica, you know I only signed that paper to calm Lydia down. I didn’t mean anything by it, so why did you sign it too?”

He pressed a hand to his chest. He had rushed over so quickly that the wound he had just gotten bandaged had torn open again, and blood was seeping through the dressing, making him look terrifying.

Blake drew in a deep breath and sat down beside me, lingering fear in his eyes beneath the anger he was trying to suppress.

“You know I love you. I would rather die than dissolve our mate bond, so can’t you be reasonable and stop making a scene?”

As he questioned me, he kept moving closer.

Before I could answer, he suddenly lunged at me.

His body trembled with desperation, the heavy scent of blood surrounding him as he tried to use the most primal means possible to mark me again and reclaim me as his.

He expected me to react the way I always had before, either angrily demanding answers from him or blinking back tears because I felt hurt.

But I didn’t.

I remained silent and said nothing at all.

Blake’s voice dropped to a hoarse murmur, carrying a trace of pleading.

“Erica, this is all my fault. What do I have to do for you to forgive me?”

I looked at him. “Send Lydia away?”

He answered immediately, “Fine.”

I continued, “And take the pup with her. I don’t want to see either of them again.”

Blake stiffened, but he only hesitated for a few seconds.

Perhaps he was weighing his choices, or remembering the novelty Lydia had brought him and the brief affection he had felt for her, but in the end, his fear of losing me completely outweighed everything else.

“Fine. I’ll send them away.”

The words had barely left his mouth when Lydia’s heartbroken sobs came from the doorway.

“Blake, you’re actually going to send me and the pup away? Don’t regret this!”

Blake had just opened his mouth to respond when she turned and ran.

His expression immediately tightened. He glanced at me, then at Lydia as she fled in tears with the pup in her arms, and finally pulled me into a brief, gentle embrace.

“I’ll be right back. She still has the pup with her, and she’s emotionally unstable right now. As the Alpha, I can’t ignore a pack member who might be in danger.”

“When I come back, I’ll make your favorite dish for you, all right?”

The next second, he rushed out of the room and hurried after her.

I sat there alone for a long time, but Blake showed no sign of returning.

I placed my copy of the Mate Bond Dissolution Agreement on the table, got to my feet, and followed them.

By the time I tracked their scents to an abandoned watchtower at the edge of the pack’s territory, Blake had Lydia in his arms and was speaking softly as he comforted her.

The expression on his face was painfully familiar.

He had once told me that he would never look at anyone else that way.

Now he had broken that promise too.

I watched the two of them clinging to each other beneath the moonlight and found the entire scene absurdly ironic.

Standing only a few yards away, I felt the last of my hope in him finally shatter.

I could no longer hide the sadness on my face, and Lydia, who was facing me, gave me a taunting smile.

I was done with both of them, so I turned to leave.

“Luna? What are you doing here?”

A cautious cry of surprise came from behind me.

I turned back and saw that Lydia’s arms were still wrapped around Blake. Tear tracks remained on her face as she explained in an aggrieved voice, “Luna, please don’t misunderstand. Nothing happened between Blake and me.”

I frowned slightly.

“Please don’t overthink it, Luna.”

When I still said nothing, her voice softened, and she even managed to sound innocent.

“Blake was only worried that I was upset, so he came to check on me. I’ll leave right now and stop bothering the two of you.”

She made a show of stepping away.

Only then did Blake finally release her and notice me.

One year later, my Healing Tower had doubled in size, and I had added a recovery room large enough to care for ten pups at once.I stayed busy from morning until night, sometimes working so long that I forgot to eat, but for the first time in years, I felt completely at peace. My reputation continued to spread, and more and more wolves who could not afford treatment came to me with injuries and illnesses. I never turned anyone away because once someone entered my Healing Tower in need of care, they became my patient. As the number of visitors grew, news about people from my past occasionally reached me as well.I heard that Blake had been living miserably ever since he was cast out. Lydia and the pup depended entirely on him, so he had no choice but to take whatever exhausting work he could find to support them, laboring from morning until night without a moment of rest. The Alpha who had once lived in comfort now had hands covered in calluses and a back that had gradually begun to sto

After six years away, I finally returned to the home I remembered.Connor walked ahead of me at an unhurried pace, carrying the natural authority of an Alpha King. Six years had passed, and compared with the brother in my memories, he had become calmer and more composed.I followed behind him, taking in the surroundings that felt both familiar and strangely distant, while complicated emotions stirred inside me.Connor eventually brought me to a tower built from pale stone.Green vines covered its outer walls, and an observation deck stood at the top, high enough to overlook the entire kingdom.Ancient werewolf script was carved above the entrance.[Healing Sanctuary]Connor pushed open the heavy door.“This is your Healing Tower.”“You were fascinated by healing even when you were little, so Mom and Dad had this tower built for you. Before they passed away, they told me that when you were ready to devote your life to healing, I was supposed to give it to you.”Connor lowered his head,

His voice was so hoarse I could barely hear him. “I never should have broken my promise to stay faithful to you. Can we start over? I swear that from now on, you’ll be the only one I care about. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”I lowered my head and suddenly laughed.“Start over?”I repeated the words because what he was asking sounded utterly absurd.“Blake, we were a mistake from the very beginning. The moment you decided to have my memories erased just so you could have me, and the moment you took years away from my work as a healer, there was never any possibility of us starting over.”Blake finally broke down.“I did all of that because I loved you!”The corner of my mouth lifted slightly.“Someone as selfish as you has no right to call that love.”He froze before hurriedly trying to defend himself.“I never planned to lie to you forever. I was only waiting for the right time, and once that time came, I was going to tell you everything.”I let out a mocking lau

Blake had clearly had enough and snapped impatiently, “Can you just be quiet? Can’t you see what kind of situation we’re in?”I slowly stepped forward and looked at Lydia’s twisted expression before speaking calmly.“Lydia, you said you had won because you gave birth to the Alpha’s firstborn son. What about now?”Lydia bit her lower lip until it was nearly bleeding, her entire body trembling.Connor had the two of them escorted back into the pack and made a solemn announcement in front of every pack member.“Effective immediately, Blake is permanently stripped of his title as Alpha and reduced to the lowest rank in the pack. He will be confined to this territory for life, forbidden from carrying weapons or taking part in any important pack affairs, and stripped of all authority and combat privileges. From now on, he will perform only the lowest duties in the pack. Anyone who helped him imprison Erica will be punished as a traitor.”Connor’s gaze swept over everyone present before settl

Blake forced himself to remain calm and tried to negotiate with Connor as the Alpha of his pack.“Even if you’re the Alpha King, you can’t make accusations without—”Before he could finish, Connor struck him hard enough to send him crashing into a pillar before he fell awkwardly to the ground.“Accusations?”Connor looked down at him with cold arrogance, contempt clear in his voice. “My sister was imprisoned by you for six years, and the evidence is right in front of us. Yet you still have the nerve to call it an accusation?”Blake’s face flushed. “Erica and I truly loved each other. If I hadn’t saved her back then, she would have died! I saved her life.”Connor narrowed his striking eyes, an icy light flashing within them as his lips curled into a mocking smile. “And what exactly do you think that makes you? A coward who took advantage of an injured woman has the nerve to claim he was in love with my sister?”His voice rang across the area.“You used forbidden werewolf magic without a

Blake’s expression stiffened for a moment before he took a step toward me.“Erica, when did you get here?”I ignored him and turned to leave.“Erica!” Blake frowned and grabbed my arm. “Can you not do this?”I finally turned back to face him.“What exactly am I doing?”Blake looked at me helplessly.“She only got upset because she overheard our conversation. As the Alpha, I couldn’t just leave when she might be in danger.”“Even if it hadn’t been Lydia today, I would have done the same thing for any other she-wolf and her pup.”He explained patiently, his tone carrying the certainty of someone who believed his reasoning should be enough.Don’t overthink it.They both kept telling me not to overthink it.Of course I wouldn’t. Connor would be here soon, and I would be leaving this place for good. When I gave him no response, Blake assumed I was still sulking. His lips tightened as he lectured me.“I’ve really spoiled you too much. I always thought you knew how to be reasonable, so how di
