Chapter 4

Author: 丘丘
Blake’s expression stiffened for a moment before he took a step toward me.

“Erica, when did you get here?”

I ignored him and turned to leave.

“Erica!” Blake frowned and grabbed my arm. “Can you not do this?”

I finally turned back to face him.

“What exactly am I doing?”

Blake looked at me helplessly.

“She only got upset because she overheard our conversation. As the Alpha, I couldn’t just leave when she might be in danger.”

“Even if it hadn’t been Lydia today, I would have done the same thing for any other she-wolf and her pup.”

He explained patiently, his tone carrying the certainty of someone who believed his reasoning should be enough.

Don’t overthink it.

They both kept telling me not to overthink it.

Of course I wouldn’t. Connor would be here soon, and I would be leaving this place for good.

When I gave him no response, Blake assumed I was still sulking.

His lips tightened as he lectured me.

“I’ve really spoiled you too much. I always thought you knew how to be reasonable, so how did you become like this? If you keep acting this way, how are you supposed to fulfill your duties as the Luna of this pack?”

Yet being the Luna of this pack had been a role he forced upon me in the first place.

Lydia chose that moment to speak.

“Luna, please don’t misunderstand. This is all my fault, and I’ll leave right away. But there’s one thing I want to ask of you. Please don’t be angry with Blake, all right? He was injured not long ago, and he has so much pack business to handle. He’s already exhausted.”

Lydia stepped closer and took my hand. Her voice was humble, but the contempt and challenge in her expression were impossible to miss.

I was about to tell her to let go when, in the next instant, she suddenly stumbled as though something had tripped her and pitched forward.

If Blake had not reacted quickly enough to catch her, Lydia would have fallen from the watchtower.

“Ah! It hurts.”

She clung tightly to Blake’s arm, her voice weak and trembling.

“Alpha, please don’t blame the Luna. She didn’t mean to push me. I’m the one who made her angry.”

Blake immediately crouched down to examine her swollen ankle.

Then he shot to his feet and glared at me with accusation blazing in his eyes.

“Erica, why do you have to keep going after her? She already apologized to you and was about to leave, so why did you still have to shove her?”

I stared at him in disbelief.

“I pushed her?”

Blake answered as though the conclusion were obvious.

“There were only three of us here, and the two of you were standing right next to each other. If you didn’t push her, how could she suddenly fall for no reason?”

His voice grew colder.

“Won’t you be satisfied until everyone around you is miserable?”

A dull pain spread through my chest, and suddenly I realized there was nothing left for me to explain.

The man I had spent six years beside did not trust me at all. In his eyes, I had somehow become someone cruel enough to deliberately hurt another woman.

Arguing with him was pointless now.

Lydia hid behind Blake, satisfaction gleaming in her tear-filled eyes.

Blake studied my expression and seemed to realize something was wrong.

“Erica…”

I did not answer him and instead turned my gaze toward the distance.

I could feel it now—the pull of my own blood.

At that exact moment, the ground across the entire territory began to shake violently.

Blake’s expression changed at once, and his hand moved to the weapon at his waist.

A man radiating such terrifying power that the air itself seemed to tighten strode into the territory.

His gaze swept across the chaotic scene before finally settling on me.

The lethal coldness in his eyes softened the moment he saw me.

He walked closer, gently brushed a loose strand of hair away from my forehead, and spoke in a hoarse voice.

“Erica, don’t be afraid. I’m here now. I won’t let anyone hurt you again.”

It was Connor, the brother I had not seen in six years, and tears instantly blurred my vision.

Connor’s eyes darkened as he finally turned his attention to Blake, his voice cutting like a poisoned blade.

“So you’re the one who kept my sister prisoner for six years?”

One year later, my Healing Tower had doubled in size, and I had added a recovery room large enough to care for ten pups at once.I stayed busy from morning until night, sometimes working so long that I forgot to eat, but for the first time in years, I felt completely at peace. My reputation continued to spread, and more and more wolves who could not afford treatment came to me with injuries and illnesses. I never turned anyone away because once someone entered my Healing Tower in need of care, they became my patient. As the number of visitors grew, news about people from my past occasionally reached me as well.I heard that Blake had been living miserably ever since he was cast out. Lydia and the pup depended entirely on him, so he had no choice but to take whatever exhausting work he could find to support them, laboring from morning until night without a moment of rest. The Alpha who had once lived in comfort now had hands covered in calluses and a back that had gradually begun to sto

After six years away, I finally returned to the home I remembered.Connor walked ahead of me at an unhurried pace, carrying the natural authority of an Alpha King. Six years had passed, and compared with the brother in my memories, he had become calmer and more composed.I followed behind him, taking in the surroundings that felt both familiar and strangely distant, while complicated emotions stirred inside me.Connor eventually brought me to a tower built from pale stone.Green vines covered its outer walls, and an observation deck stood at the top, high enough to overlook the entire kingdom.Ancient werewolf script was carved above the entrance.[Healing Sanctuary]Connor pushed open the heavy door.“This is your Healing Tower.”“You were fascinated by healing even when you were little, so Mom and Dad had this tower built for you. Before they passed away, they told me that when you were ready to devote your life to healing, I was supposed to give it to you.”Connor lowered his head,

His voice was so hoarse I could barely hear him. “I never should have broken my promise to stay faithful to you. Can we start over? I swear that from now on, you’ll be the only one I care about. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”I lowered my head and suddenly laughed.“Start over?”I repeated the words because what he was asking sounded utterly absurd.“Blake, we were a mistake from the very beginning. The moment you decided to have my memories erased just so you could have me, and the moment you took years away from my work as a healer, there was never any possibility of us starting over.”Blake finally broke down.“I did all of that because I loved you!”The corner of my mouth lifted slightly.“Someone as selfish as you has no right to call that love.”He froze before hurriedly trying to defend himself.“I never planned to lie to you forever. I was only waiting for the right time, and once that time came, I was going to tell you everything.”I let out a mocking lau

Blake had clearly had enough and snapped impatiently, “Can you just be quiet? Can’t you see what kind of situation we’re in?”I slowly stepped forward and looked at Lydia’s twisted expression before speaking calmly.“Lydia, you said you had won because you gave birth to the Alpha’s firstborn son. What about now?”Lydia bit her lower lip until it was nearly bleeding, her entire body trembling.Connor had the two of them escorted back into the pack and made a solemn announcement in front of every pack member.“Effective immediately, Blake is permanently stripped of his title as Alpha and reduced to the lowest rank in the pack. He will be confined to this territory for life, forbidden from carrying weapons or taking part in any important pack affairs, and stripped of all authority and combat privileges. From now on, he will perform only the lowest duties in the pack. Anyone who helped him imprison Erica will be punished as a traitor.”Connor’s gaze swept over everyone present before settl

Blake forced himself to remain calm and tried to negotiate with Connor as the Alpha of his pack.“Even if you’re the Alpha King, you can’t make accusations without—”Before he could finish, Connor struck him hard enough to send him crashing into a pillar before he fell awkwardly to the ground.“Accusations?”Connor looked down at him with cold arrogance, contempt clear in his voice. “My sister was imprisoned by you for six years, and the evidence is right in front of us. Yet you still have the nerve to call it an accusation?”Blake’s face flushed. “Erica and I truly loved each other. If I hadn’t saved her back then, she would have died! I saved her life.”Connor narrowed his striking eyes, an icy light flashing within them as his lips curled into a mocking smile. “And what exactly do you think that makes you? A coward who took advantage of an injured woman has the nerve to claim he was in love with my sister?”His voice rang across the area.“You used forbidden werewolf magic without a
