"You should be happier," he said. "This is your wedding day." "I just want everything to go perfectly." Down the hall, Tristan adjusted his collar in front of his own mirror, Ivy slipping into his room quietly once her father had stepped away. She shut the door behind her and crossed the room to him. "Is everything ready?" she asked. Tristan reached into his jacket and pulled out a small vial, holding it up to the light. "This is enough to weaken him for hours," he said. "No wolf healing will touch it, no strength will save him. Today is the only day he'll eat and drink freely without a guard tasting it first for him." Ivy took the vial from his hand and turned it slowly. "And once it's in his system?" she asked. "Once it's in him, he won't be able to shift, won't be able to fight back," Tristan said. "And that's when we finish it." Ivy smiled and slipped the vial into the folds of her dress. "Then let's go get married," she said. The ceremony grounds were full by the time the sun reached its highest point. Alphas from three neighboring packs sat in the front rows, dressed in their finest, whispering amongst themselves about the double wedding. Their whispers grew louder whenever their eyes landed on the man standing near the altar. Alpha Thorne stood tall in a black suit that fit him like it had been built around him, his presence alone enough to quiet a room. He did not look like a father marrying off his son. He barely looked older than Tristan himself. His face carried none of the years he should have carried, his skin unmarked by time, his eyes sharp and unclouded, the kind of eyes that had seen decades pass without a single one leaving its mark on him. He had stopped aging at twenty-five, and no one, not even the oldest elders in the pack, could explain why. Some whispered it was the strength of his wolf. Others whispered it was something darker, something he had done long ago that no one dared ask him about directly. Whatever it was, he stood among his guests looking every bit like Tristan's older brother rather than his father, and every pack that had ever crossed him learned quickly that his youth was not a weakness. It was a warning. Ivy walked down the aisle first, radiant in white, Tristan waiting for her with a practiced smile on his face. The pack elders nodded in approval as she reached him, taking his hand exactly the way a future Luna should. "Now we wait for Alpha Thorne's bride," Elder Corwin announced. Everyone turned toward the entrance. Minutes passed. Guests shifted in their seats, whispering to each other. Alpha Thorne did not seem concerned, standing tall with his hands folded in front of him, his eyes fixed steadily on the entrance as though he already knew exactly what was coming. An hour passed. Then two. Guests grew restless, fanning themselves in the heat, murmuring behind gloved hands. By the third hour, one of the older elders rose from his seat, his patience worn thin. "Alpha Thorne, forgive me, but this delay is an insult to every pack seated here today," he said. "Perhaps we should consider moving forward without—" Alpha Thorne turned his head slowly toward the elder, and the temperature of the entire ceremony seemed to drop with the movement. "Leave," he said, his voice calm, almost quiet, which made it far more frightening than if he had shouted. The elder blinked. "Alpha Thorne, I only meant—" "If my bride needs twenty-four hours to prepare, then we will wait twenty-four hours," Alpha Thorne said. "No one here will rush her. And if that is a problem for you, you are free to leave." The elder sat back down without another word, his face pale. No one else spoke of the delay again. Then the sound of an engine reached the crowd. Every head turned as a black car pulled up along the edge of the ceremony grounds, its tires crunching against the gravel path. The doors of the venue opened. A figure stepped out of the car, wrapped in a sparkling wedding gown that caught the light with every movement, her steps slow and deliberate as she made her way toward the aisle. Ivy's breath caught in her throat. "It can't be," she whispered. "Genevieve," Tristan said, barely above a whisper as he staggered backwards in shock. Ivy stared at the woman in front of her in shock. The crowd fell into stunned silence. Elder Corwin rose halfway from his seat, his mouth opening without any sound coming out. Her father stood so fast his chair toppled behind him. "Genny?" he breathed. Genevieve reached the end of the aisle and stopped directly in front of Tristan and Ivy, a small, calm smile spreading across her lips. "I hope we can get along really well, stepson," she said. "I really have a big surprise for you," she added with a sly smile. She walked past them without waiting for a response, straight toward Alpha Thorne, who watched her approach with a calm that told everyone present he had known all along. Her hand slipped into his. Ivy grabbed Tristan's arm, her nails digging into his sleeve. "Tristan," she hissed under her breath. "Tristan, breathe. People are watching us." But Tristan could not hear her, not really. His mind had gone somewhere else entirely, back to that street on the edge of town, back to the gun in his hand, back to the two shots he had fired himself, the bullets should have killed her, no doubt. He had watched her die. He had watched Ivy check for a pulse and find none. "Tristan, smile," Ivy whispered sharply, her own voice barely holding steady beneath the surface. "Whatever is happening, we cannot let them see us panic." Tristan forced his lips to smile, but behind it his thoughts spiraled without mercy, the same question circling louder and louder until it drowned out everything else around him. How can a dead woman come back alive. The ceremony resumed as though nothing had happened, though nothing about it felt the same anymore. Servants moved quickly to reset the altar, guests straightened in their seats, and the priest cleared his throat before beginning again, his voice carrying over a crowd still buzzing with whispers no one could fully silence.Tristan stood beside Ivy, his hand damp against hers, his mind still circling the same impossible question. Genevieve stood a few feet away beside Alpha Thorne, calm, composed, her eyes occasionally drifting toward Tristan with a look he could not read."We continue as planned," Ivy whispered through her smile, barely moving her lips. "She only knows you want him dead, not how. There's no way she could have touched the wine, my father watched the servants prepare everything himself."Tristan nodded slowly, some of the color returning to his face. "You're right," he whispered back. "She's bluffing. She wants to shake us, that's all."The priest called both couples fo

Genevieve did not wake up. Tristan stood over her body as Ivy stared down at her without flinching."What do we do with her now?" Ivy asked."We can't just leave her here. Someone might come looking for her before the wedding," Tristan said, pacing the room."We make it look like someone else did this," Ivy said, walking toward the window.Tristan turned to look at her. "What do you mean?""We say she's been seeing a young Beta, hasn't she, the one from the eastern border pack," Ivy said, a small smile forming on her lips."She hasn't been seeing anyone, Ivy, she's been engaged to me for years," Tristan said."Doesn't matter what's true, only matters what people believe," Ivy said. "We tell everyone she ran off with him. If anyone finds her, they'll think he did it."Tristan stared at his sister-in-law, something between horror and admiration crossing his face. "You're more ruthless than I thought," he said."I learned from watching you," Ivy replied. They drove her far from the pack
"Tristan, Ivy? What's going on here?" Genevieve managed to ask after watching for so long. They both turned to look at her."Genny, what are you doing here?" Tristan asked as Ivy got up from his body."What are you two doing here? Seriously, Tristan, are you asking me that?" Genevieve stepped in closer."I should be asking you that, what are you doing here," she snapped, her voice trembling."Genevieve, I can explain," Tristan said, standing up. Ivy sat on the bed without showing any sign of remorse."Can you explain? What do you want to explain to me? The fact that you told me you were out on a business trip out of town, but here you are in bed fucking my own sister. Tristan, how could you?" Genevieve shouted as tears fell from her eyes."You were never supposed to find out like this, Genevieve," he said."How long has this been going on?" Genevieve asked."Since college," Ivy was the one that replied.Genevieve stared at her in shock."Ivy, you should be ashamed of yourself," Genevi
"Ma'am, congratulations for securing another contract and pack alliance again," Clara said as she walked beside Genevieve.Genevieve let out a smile before entering her office. She walked directly to the fridge and took a bottle of water. After drinking it, she sighed before facing Clara."Where's Tristan?" she asked."Oh, the Alpha left. He left a letter for you, it's on your table."She nodded before making her way to the table. She picked up the letter and smiled."Don't work too much today, my love. Make sure you go home on time. Don't bother coming to see me. I left for an urgent work out of town and will be back tomorrow." The letter read."Clara, do I still have any work today?" Genevieve asked before sitting down."No ma'am, the last thing on the list is for you to go for your bridal fitting, which would be in the next 30 minutes. You can rest, I'll go order something for you to eat," Clara said.Genevieve nodded before Clara walked out.Tristan was supposed to come to the bri
