Genevieve's POV

"Alpha, we have a problem. The Messengers were here," he said.

My chest felt heavy, dread pooling low in my stomach. I should have expected this problem.

Thorne chuckled. "Seriously, they couldn't even wait till morning," he muttered, though there was an edge beneath the amusement in his voice, something sharper that made me wonder just how much control he actually had over this situation.

"I'll meet them soon," he said.

His beta, Lucas, nodded before walking out of the roo

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   The Luna's Crown

Genevieve's POV"Your majesty, what nonsense is this?" Elder Kane snapped angrily. But Thorne did the most unimaginable thing. He took the sword beside him and drove it into Elder Kane's chest.I covered my mouth in shock as I stared at the blood pouring out, dark and bright against the polished floor.Everyone stared at Thorne in shock. The music had stopped, and the silence that followed was so heavy it pressed against my ears."Your majesty," Messenger Noah said, stepping forward, his voice trembling. "What's wrong with you?""Someone call the Royal physician!" my father shouted."Father-in-law, if you give one more command I didn't give, I might as well make you join him," Thorne said, as he pulled the sword out of Elder Kane, the blade dripping slowly onto the floor. My father froze, his face turning pale."Alpha, you can't just kill a royal elder," Elder Corwin said.Thorne looked at him, and he shifted back in fear."Whose elder is he? Mine or yours?" he asked."Alpha, crowning

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   The Crown

Genevieve's POVI sat in front of the dressing mirror as the maids did their job, their soft hands moving quickly around my hair and shoulders. Thorne was the one who had specifically picked out my outfit tonight. He sat by the window making a call, and I couldn't understand what they were talking about, his voice low and clipped. The jewelry and outfit felt so heavy against my skin. The only time I had worn something like this was on my wedding day. The gown was purple, trimmed with silver accessories that glittered under the lamplight."Isn't this outfit a bit too extra? It's not like I'm the center of attraction," I said with an eye roll, after Thorne dropped his call.Thorne chuckled softly. "Too bad, that's what I want you to be, the center of attraction. Everyone should understand why you're the Alpha's favorite wife," he said.I nearly laughed, and would have if not for the maids around us. Alpha's favorite wife, my foot. It's more like Alpha's favorite pet, I thought."Don't y

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   The Price of Running

Genevieve's POVThe day of the coronation had finally arrived. My heart was beating so loudly that I was sure the whole room could hear it. I had already made all the plans with Sarah. Once Thorne was busy enough, I would slip away. But it felt like he had decided to stick to me today. He lounged on the armchair near the window, one leg crossed over the other, still dressed in his simple clothes, while soft morning light spilled across the carpet."Why aren't you getting dressed for the ceremony?" I asked."It won't take me thirty minutes to dress up, unlike you, who's still not dressed and would probably take hours. Don't tell me you expect them to wait for you?" he said."Don't worry, Alpha, I'll be there on time," I said, forcing a calm smile. He made to say something, but his phone rang, cutting him off."I'll be right there," he said, before hanging up. "Get dressed, Angel. I'll come pick you up once you're done."I nodded as he walked out of the door, and the room fell silent be

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   Bow to Your Mother-in-Law

Genevieve's POVI glanced at him from the corner of my eye, at the calm, unreadable line of his face. I knew Thorne knew something, but he just didn't want to tell me."Why are you staring at me? Is it because you find me too attractive that you can't keep your eyes away from me?" he asked.I rolled my eyes, forcing my gaze to look straight ahead. The corridor stretched long and quiet before us, lit by tall lamps that cast our shadows across the walls."Don't be so full of yourself, Alpha," I replied. He chuckled."Alpha, who do you think is responsible for tonight's scheme?" I asked."What would you offer me if I tell you?" he asked."I have nothing other than myself, while you have everything. What could you possibly want from me?" I asked."Your blood, Angel," he said.I stopped in my tracks to look at him, but he kept on walking."At this rate, just tell me you want to suck me dry," I said, hurrying to catch up with him."Who do you suggest was behind it?" he asked."Ivy or Trista

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   Five Steps Ahead

Genevieve's POV"Please spare me," the maid pleaded, tears streaming down her face. "Lady Genevieve threatened me with my family.""Guards, seize that witch!" Elder Corwin shouted. My mind went blank for a moment. I didn't have time to process what was happening, everything had moved so fast that I was completely confused. The whole hall seemed to tilt around me, every eye turned in my direction, hot and accusing. The guards moved closer to me, their armor clinking against the marble, but Thorne immediately stood in front of me."Did I give you permission to lay a hand on her?" he asked. The guards immediately shifted back, their faces pale."Your majesty, the maid here already confirmed that it was Lady Genevieve who told her to poison the princess. Which makes it understandable why she would do something like that," Elder Corwin said."The maid is one of her own handmaids," Elder Kane added."She might be one of my handmaids, but I never gave her any poison," I said, trying to defen

  • He Killed Me. I Returned as His Stepmother.   Poison at the Feast

Genevieve's POVAfter taking my bath, I decided to take a walk to clear my head. The warm water had loosened my muscles, but my thoughts were still tangled. Thorne hadn't been back, not that I was interested in him coming back. For the next few days, I would have to avoid him as much as I could. When it was finally over, I would be gone for good.I dragged my feet across the hallway, where the evening light slanted through the tall windows and laid long golden stripes over the marble floor, when someone blocked my path.It was the princess."Your highness," I greeted, bowing softly. She let out a smile, which made me feel very confused, because I didn't know when we had become so close."The palace is quite huge. I'd love to take a tour around it. I hope you won't mind showing me around," she said.I gave her a polite smile. "I'm sorry, Princess Zarina, but I barely know the palace too. You could ask the maids to accompany you," I said, rejecting her in the most polite way possible, t
