Aniya’s POV

I stared at the photograph on my phone.

My grandfather.

Alive.

Standing beside a picture of my daughter.

For several seconds, I couldn’t move.

Then I called the number.

It rang twice before someone answered.

“Hello, sweetheart.”

His voice.

The same voice that had haunted my childhood, the same voice that had promised to protect our family while destroying everything we loved.

“Where is Lily?”

He chuckled.

“Straight to business. You’ve certainly grown up.”

“WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?”

  • He Lost Me When He Chose Her    The Child They Buried

Aniya’s POV“Hello, Father.”The voice echoed through the underground chamber.Richard froze. For the first time since he had arrived, the confidence in his expression disappeared. His eyes moved toward the screen.“Who is that?” KC demanded.Nobody answered.Grandfather slowly lowered his gun from Lily’s head.A strange smile spread across his face.“Now,” he whispered. “This is the reunion I’ve been waiting for.”The screen went black. Then a door opened behind the glass wall.A figure stepped out.He was tall, dressed in a dark shirt and black trousers. His hair was slightly longer than KC’s, and he had the same sharp jawline as Richard. But it was his eyes that made my breath catch. They were exactly like Ethan’s.The stranger walked into the chamber, looking around as though he had returned to a place he once knew.Richard took one step backward.“No.”The stranger smiled.“That’s not a very warm welcome.”Richard’s lips parted.“Gabriel?”The name sent a strange ripple through t

  • He Lost Me When He Chose Her    The Second Army

Aniya’s POVRichard Sterling stood at the entrance of the underground chamber. For a moment, nobody moved. He looked older than the man in the photographs, with silver creeping into his dark hair and a deep scar running from his temple toward his jaw. His black coat was dusty, and there was blood on the sleeve of his shirt. But his eyes were unmistakable. The same eyes KC had.The same eyes Ethan had.“Welcome back, Richard,” Grandfather said, spreading his arms. “I hope you brought the second army.”Richard didn’t smile.“I did.”A heavy silence followed. Then the sound of footsteps filled the corridor behind him.One by one, armed men entered the chamber. They wore black tactical uniforms, carrying weapons and moving with the kind of discipline that made my stomach tighten. There were at least twenty of them.Corbin immediately stepped in front of me.KC moved closer to Ethan, while Daniel stared at Richard as though he had seen a ghost.“Who are these people?” KC demanded.“My men,

  • He Lost Me When He Chose Her    The Firstborn

Aniya’s POV“Hello, little sister. I’ve been waiting for you.”I stared at the young man behind the glass. He looked to be in his early thirties. His dark hair was slightly messy, and there was a faint scar running across his left eyebrow. But it was his eyes that unsettled me.They looked like mine.“Who is he?” I whispered. My grandfather smiled.“His name is Ethan Sterling. Your older brother.”I turned toward Adrian.“You knew about him?”Adrian nodded weakly.“Ethan was Elena’s first child. He was born before you and Amara.”“Then why have I never heard of him?”“Because he was taken immediately after birth.”I looked back at the chamber.Ethan placed his palm against the glass.“Are you going to keep staring at me, or are you going to let me out?”His voice sounded almost amused.I didn’t know what to say.My entire life had been filled with unexpected relatives, secret identities, and people returning from the dead.Apparently, I had an older brother too.Daniel moved closer to

  • He Lost Me When He Chose Her    The Father Beneath the House

Aniya’s POV“Your real father.”My grandfather’s words echoed in my head.I looked at Daniel, then at Elena.Neither of them seemed surprised.“What does he mean?” I demanded. My grandfather smiled.“Come downstairs, Aniya. It’s time you met the man who gave you life.”I tightened my arms around Lily.“I’m not going anywhere until someone explains what’s happening.”KC stepped beside me, still struggling with his injury.“She’s not going anywhere alone.”My grandfather glanced at him.“You should be resting, KC. You’re fortunate to be alive.”“I’m not worried about myself.”“That’s always been your problem. You inherited your mother’s weakness.”KC’s expression hardened.“Don’t talk about her.”Elena lowered her eyes.My grandfather turned toward the staircase.“Bring them.”Two guards approached. Before they could reach us, Corbin stepped forward.“Touch anyone in this family, and you’ll regret it.”My grandfather sighed.“Must everyone make this difficult?”He nodded toward the guar

  • He Lost Me When He Chose Her    The Woman Who Came Back from the Dead

Aniya’s POV“That’s Elena.”My mother’s words refused to leave my mind.I stared at her, waiting for her to explain.“Elena is dead,” I whispered.Isabella shook her head.“I saw her die. I watched them lower her into the ground. But that woman in the video…”She couldn’t finish.Daniel took the black rose pendant from her hand.“We need to leave. Now.”“Where are we going?” Amara asked.“To the Sterling residence.”I turned toward him.“You heard what Grandfather said. He wants the key, and Lily is there. We’re going.”“That’s exactly what he wants,” Daniel replied. “He’s setting a trap.”“Then we’ll walk into it.”“I’m not letting you risk your life.”I laughed bitterly.“Everyone keeps telling me what they won’t let me do. Meanwhile, my daughter is being held by people who have spent their entire lives controlling me.”I opened the car door.“I’m going.”Nobody argued again.KC’s POV“Are you completely insane?”Corbin stood in front of the hospital room door, blocking my way.I lo

You have tried that several times already.”“What do you want?”There was a brief silence. Then he answered.“You.”I swallowed.“I’m listening.”“Tomorrow, you will come to the old Sterling residence. You will bring the original necklace casing, and you will come alone.”“I don’t have the necklace.”“Don’t insult my intelligence. You still have it.
