Chapter 1

I am the daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent Pack.

After my parents passed away, all the pack’s territories, mining rights, and company shares were transferred to me.

But I had never been interested in the endless struggles for power and wealth. I preferred living quietly, in my own way.

The Elder Council had no way to persuade me otherwise, so they could only ask Theo to manage the pack on my behalf.

Theo was a werewolf of the Crescent Pack, young, talented, and humble. The first time he stood before me, he was so nervous that he did not even know where to place his hands.

Grand Elder Harlan patted him on the shoulder.

“Don’t be so nervous, child. It’s just a ceremony.”

I had a honey cookie between my teeth as I casually pressed my seal onto his Acting Alpha appointment document.

“There. One stamp a year. Come back at the first full moon next year.”

Theo lowered his head and stared at the silver wolf-head seal, his breathing becoming noticeably lighter.

For twelve years, whenever I reviewed the pack’s financial reports, I would simply skim through them and sign without asking questions.

Theo smiled helplessly.

“Silvia, aren’t you worried that I might do something behind your back?”

I answered confidently.

“Why would I? I wouldn’t have chosen you if I didn’t trust you.”

Because I had always kept a low profile, and because I trusted Theo completely, the outside world gradually came to know only one name — Alpha Theo of the Crescent Pack.

When other Alphas from different packs met him, they treated him with respect and courtesy.

Whenever there were business disputes, they would go to him first.

I thought that was perfectly fine.

Until last year, when Theo met Mia, the daughter of the Alpha of the Redstone Pack.

But he did not dare tell the Redstone Pack Alpha that he was only an Acting Alpha.

The first time Theo came to me, he asked for my blessing and help.

At the time, I was eating apple pie. I did not think much about it and only asked him one question.

“Are you certain that she is the one you want as your mate?”

He nodded.

The next day, I approved his decision to transfer the mining rights to three mines to the Redstone Pack.

That very day, the Redstone Pack set the date for their mating ceremony.

Mia really was a gentle person.

She went shopping with me, cooked all kinds of delicious food for me, and treated me as if I were her own younger sister.

On the day of Theo and Mia’s mating ceremony, I gifted her a territory.

“Welcome to the Crescent Pack.”

She held onto Theo’s arm, her reddish-brown hair braided into an elegant style. Her smile was gentle and graceful.

“Thank you, Silvia.”

She accepted the documents.

“I will always remain loyal to the Crescent Pack.”

On the first day after their mating ceremony, Mia said she wanted to come visit me.

Coincidentally, I also wanted to show her a forest spot I had recently discovered.

When she arrived, she was carrying a bottle of wine, wearing the same gentle and polite smile.

“Silvia, I brought this vintage wine just for you. Try some.”

I smiled and reached for a glass, but she stopped me.

She twisted open the bottle cap. Then she flipped her wrist.

The dark red liquid splashed across my body, soaking my clothes and dress. The intense smell of alcohol was so overwhelming that it almost made me choke.

“Madam Mia, what are you doing?”

My butler Lily stepped forward, intending to stop her.

But before she could say another word, the guards behind Mia rushed forward and pinned her, along with the other maids who tried to intervene, firmly to the ground.

“Take them away.”

Mia did not even turn around as she spoke.

“Don’t you dare!”

I shouted.

But Mia’s guards ignored me and quickly dragged them out of the living room.

My breathing grew heavier.

“Mia, what exactly do you mean by this?”

She dropped the wine bottle. A hint of mockery appeared on her face.

“It means everything before this was just an act.”

Her voice was soft, yet cold.

“You didn’t really think I considered you my little sister, did you?”

She was half a head taller than me, looking down at me as her smile grew brighter.

“I only treated you well before because you were Theo’s adopted sister.”

I stared at her in confusion. When did I ever become Theo’s adopted sister?

After Mia learned that Theo had completely acknowledged me as the true Alpha, she caused a huge scene.According to Jacob, she had a fierce argument with Theo and smashed everything she could find in anger.“You’re just going to accept this? After spending twelve years building everything, you’re willing to give it all up just like that?”Theo only replied with one sentence.“That was never mine to begin with. The compensation that an Alpha should give me was not only fully provided, but even exceeded.”Mia was left completely speechless. The next day, she packed her belongings and returned to the Redstone Pack. Before leaving, she came to see me one last time. She stood beside the fountain in the estate garden, looking far worse than when she had first arrived. Her reddish-brown hair had lost its former shine, and dark circles had appeared beneath her eyes.“You’re not planning to take those mines back, are you?”I shook my head.“Once something has been given away, it belongs to you.

That night, Theo came to see me alone. He had no documents in his hands and no account books with him. He simply sat across from me and remained silent for a long time.In the end, I was the one who spoke first.“What do you want to ask?”Theo stared at the Alpha seal on the table, his voice hoarse.“What have these twelve years actually meant?”I paused for a moment.“The Acting Alpha of the Crescent Pack.”He let out a self-deprecating laugh.“The kind that is appointed for one year at a time?”“Yes.”“So it wasn’t because your father was the Alpha, and it wasn’t because you wanted to make me feel important?”“No.”Theo closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his eyes were slightly red.“But Grand Elder Harlan clearly told me back then that it was only a ceremony.”I thought for a moment before remembering.“He wasn’t wrong.”Theo frowned.“What do you mean?”I looked at him calmly.“Who became the Acting Alpha was never the important part.”“To me, it was always just a s

Theo remained silent for a long time. After the elders had gradually left the conference room, he called me to the side hall.“Silvia, let’s talk privately.”I did not refuse. After all, twelve years of companionship and trust were not something that could be erased so easily that I would not even give him a chance to speak.Theo closed the door and got straight to the point.“I was wrong before, but replacing me so suddenly may not be the best decision for the pack.”His words carried more weight than Mia’s hastily fabricated ledger, so I did not argue. I simply motioned for him to continue.“The heads of the pack’s five major operations were all personally trained by me.”“The packs in Lake Rock Forest have worked with me for eight years. They only recognize me.”“You may have revoked my appointment today, but the connections and relationships I have built over all these years cannot simply disappear because you say so.”I nodded.“So?”Theo seemed to think that I had finally become

I no longer wanted to watch the two of them continue their ridiculous performance, so I picked up a ledger from the table.“Now.”I opened the first page.“The first item on today’s meeting agenda is the settlement of accounts.”Mia’s expression changed immediately, as if she had suddenly regained some hope.“What settlement? Theo has been the Alpha for so many years. When has he ever made a mistake?”I nodded.“Exactly. So we will first calculate his contributions, and then we will settle the accounts from the past few days.”Theo looked up at me.“Silvia, I have nothing to be ashamed of.”“That’s good.”I motioned for Jacob to bring out last year’s financial records.Theo had indeed never tampered with the accounts. In the previous year, the Crescent Pack’s territorial businesses had increased their net profits by twenty percent. The supply chain in Lake Rock Forest had been rebuilt under his management, and his responses to several rogue werewolf invasions had also been timely and e

Mia panicked, but as if she had suddenly thought of something, she turned around and glared at me.“Silvia, what kind of madness have you gotten into? How could you possibly make everyone cooperate with you in this ridiculous performance?”I looked at her and smiled.“Believe whatever you want.”Theo took a deep breath and stood up, placing both hands on the table. For the first time, there was an unmistakable urgency in his voice.“Grand Elder Harlan.”He looked at Harlan.“I have led the pack for twelve years, and everyone here has witnessed what I have done. Why would you all help her put on this childish act?”Harlan looked at him calmly.“Theo, do you believe that everything the pack has achieved over these years was because of your efforts?”Theo answered in a low voice.“At the very least, I have contributed a great deal. But Silvia has never done anything for the pack.”Harlan nodded.“Good. Then let everyone see for themselves.”As soon as he finished speaking, the doors of th

Mia probably believed that she was truly about to become the Luna of the Crescent Pack. The next day, she brought her people to my estate and had them remove my belongings piece by piece. She called it helping me repay my debt.Lily and the maids were furious. Their eyes were red with anger, and they wanted to stand up for me.“Don’t get worked up.”I stopped them and calmly recorded the first item in my notebook.I wanted to see just how far they would go when no one told them the truth, and then settle everything with them all at once. After that, Mia turned her attention to the pack’s accounts.Jewelry, luxury watches, expensive cars...Every gift she had sent to the Redstone Pack had been paid for from the Crescent Pack’s treasury. The financial director did not dare offend her, so he categorized each expense under “Alpha’s daily expenses” and processed the reimbursements. When the bill was placed in front of me, I flipped through two pages.“Approve it.”The financial director vis
