Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Crystal K
"Enough."

I cut through their grating laughter.

"You're here to welcome the Alpha King, aren't you?"

My voice was calm, almost unnervingly so.

"Lead the way."

The air froze.

Three seconds of dead silence.

And then.

"Hahahahaha!"

Cora was the first to break, letting out a hysterical laugh that brought tears to her eyes.

"What... what did she say?" She pointed at me, her body shaking with laughter as she held her child. "She wants us... to take her to the King?"

“Oh, Evelyn,” Asher shook his head, his eyes filled with the kind of pity one reserves for a stray dog.

“You don’t actually believe you’re still important, do you?”

“Look at the state of you,” he sneered, pointing. “That worn-out coat, the faded bag, not a single jewel on your neck, and that…”

He wrinkled his nose in disgust. “…that scent. So weak it’s fading into nothing. What have you been doing with your life?”

“It’s common knowledge,” the guard captain chimed in, unable to hide his glee, “that a she-wolf cast out by her Alpha is doomed. They can’t make it alone out there.”

“True,” another added. “And the higher they were, the harder they fall. Bet it hurts, falling from grace like that.”

Cora laughed, a short, sharp sound of contempt.

“Her position was always a gift from Asher. I’ve said it a thousand times. Take away the Alpha, and the woman underneath is worthless.”

A wave of sheer disgust washed over me as I listened to them.

The fools.

This “worn-out coat” was made of royal Moon-Fiber, worth more than their entire packhouse.

My “faded bag” held a sacred healing artifact that could save a dying Alpha King.

And the “weak” scent? It was the blessed glamour the Moon Goddess grants a pregnant Queen to shield her power…

A cold smile touched my lips, my comeback ready, but their ignorant chatter droned on.

"You're not even worthy of speaking the King's name!" a guard barked angrily.

"Exactly!" another wolf added. "He's the legendary Alpha King! The absolute ruler of the entire werewolf world!"

"And we are here to welcome," Cora's voice turned fervent, almost worshipful, "the most legendary Luna in history. The true heir of the Moon Goddess!"

Asher's tone grew reverent. "She possesses the legendary 'Moonfall' scent—an aura so powerful it can make any Alpha within a hundred miles submit."

"They say one look from her can bring the wildest rogue to its knees!" a guard chimed in.

"And her healing!" Cora added, her eyes shining with a complex mix of envy and awe. "She can bring a wolf back from the brink of death!"

"And most importantly," she continued, "the Luna Queen has a sacred mark on her neck!"

"It's a mark blessed by the Moon Goddess herself!" Asher announced proudly. "The only one in the world! A silver crescent moon, wreathed in ancient, divine script!"

"They say the mark glows with a holy light on the full moon!"

A sudden gust of wind whipped my hair back from my neck.

Cora's words died in her throat.

She stared, transfixed, at my neck, her pupils shrinking violently.

"Wait..." her voice became shrill. "On your neck... what is that?"

I instinctively tried to cover it with my hair, but it was too late.

"Let me see!" Cora lunged forward, roughly pushing my hair away.

The side of my neck was completely exposed to everyone.

A stunningly intricate crescent moon mark shimmered on my skin.

The silver lines were like flowing starlight, surrounded by complex, mystical runes, located right in the sacred spot for a mating mark.

"That's it!" Cora's voice was practically a scream. "It's exactly like the legends describe! Exactly!"

Everyone crowded around.

"No... impossible..." Asher's face turned white as a sheet. "This is absolutely impossible..."

"How could she have a mark like that?" a guard stammered.

"It's a fake!" another wolf roared. "She must have used blood magic to forge it! A sacred mark would never appear on a worthless reject like her!"

"Right! It must be forged!"

"She must have used some kind of dark magic!"

Asher seemed to find his footing, grabbing my shoulders roughly, his nails digging into my skin.

"Tell me," his voice was a low, furious hiss, "where did you get this fake mark?"

"What cheap trick did you use?"

"Speak!"

I felt the sting of his nails in my skin but simply stared back at him.

"Asher," Cora's eyes flashed with venom as she pulled a strange-looking pen from her hair. "Since it's a fake, let's destroy it."

The pen glowed with an eerie green light.

"This is a Corruption Quill," she brandished it proudly. "It's designed to erase false magical sigils. If it were a true divine blessing, this quill couldn't touch it. But if it's a forgery..."

She gave a vicious smile. "It will be burned away completely."

"Don't!" I tried to wrench free from Asher's grip.

"Stay still!" Asher held me tighter. "Let's see the real you, you fraud!"

Cora pressed the tip of the quill to the mark on my neck.

"I'm going to carve my initial right over this filth," she hissed. "Let's show everyone what a blasphemous little liar you are."

The tip began to move, drawing the letter 'C' over the silver crescent.

A searing pain, like hot lava, shot through my body.

I couldn't help but let out a pained gasp.

It was a defilement of a sacred mark; every stroke felt like a thousand silver needles piercing my soul.

"See!" Cora pulled the quill back, satisfied. "A fake is a fake. So easily destroyed!"

The sacred mark was now marred by an ugly 'C', its silver light dimmed.

I frantically reached up to wipe away the smudge, blurting out in my panic:

"That's Ronan's mark! You can't touch it!"

Before I could finish.

Asher unleashed his Alpha's presence, so thick it felt like a physical wall, and slammed it into me.

I was thrown back a step, nearly falling to the ground.

"Shut your mouth!" he roared, his eyes blazing with golden wolf fire.

"Protect the Luna and the Young Prince!"Ronan instantly unleashed a terrifying wave of power, shielding me and Dotty behind him.A dozen royal guards burst in, silver weapons at the ready, searching for the source of the voice."On the balcony!" one of the guards shouted, pointing to the stone balcony outside the chambers. In the moonlight, a pathetic, ragged figure was clinging to the railing.Asher.The once-proud Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack was now gaunt and disheveled. Stripped of his Alpha power, he looked more fragile than a human."Don't move!" the guards raised their weapons."Wait," I said, rising from the Spring of Life and signaling for the guards to stand down. "Let him speak."Asher staggered into the chamber. The old arrogance was gone from his eyes, replaced by a desperate, sick obsession."Evelyn..." he looked at me, his voice raw. "I finally found you.""Say your piece and then get out," Ronan said coldly. "My patience is limited."Asher acted as if he hadn't heard

Warmth.Safety.Life force flowed gently back into me.I opened my eyes and found myself lying in a massive crystal pool. The water glowed with a soft, silver light, radiating the sacred blessing of the Moon Goddess. The Spring of Life, in the royal palace."Evelyn! You're finally awake!"A familiar voice called out.I turned my head and saw my best friend, Sophia, sitting by the edge of the pool. She was the Luna of the Northern Ridge Pack, and one of the few people in the world I trusted completely."Sophia?" My voice was hoarse. "How long was I out?""Three days," she said, taking my hand, her eyes still clouded with worry. "You almost..."She didn't finish, but I knew what she meant.I instinctively touched my stomach."The baby?""Safe," Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. "You and the pup are both out of danger. The Spring of Life saved you."I pushed myself into a sitting position. The silver water sluiced off my skin. The wound on my back was completely healed, without even a

"A Luna... again?"A small, childish voice, dripping with sarcasm, cut through the air.All eyes turned to its source.Four-year-old Dotty stood beside me, his golden eyes burning with a wisdom and rage far beyond his years."And what are you?" the little one asked, tilting his head up to stare fearlessly at Asher. "To dare say something like that to my mother?""You..." Asher was taken aback by the sheer presence of a four-year-old.But Dotty wasn't finished. His small frame was ramrod straight, his young voice cutting through the silence, each word a blade."You say you're her fated mate? Then where is your mark?""My mama only has my papa's mark on her neck. Where's yours?"Snickers rippled through the crowd. It was a valid point. If Asher was her mate, why was there no mark?Dotty continued his ruthless assault."And you want to make my mama a 'Luna again'?"He pointed at Cora, who was trembling as she held her child."Your first Luna couldn't even stand against a four-year-old p

The healer's words exploded in the hall like a bomb."A pup?""The Luna Queen is pregnant?""Gods... she was carrying the royal bloodline, and we let her be treated like that..."Terrified whispers swept through the crowd.Everyone understood the gravity of the situation. Harming a pregnant Luna Queen was the most unforgivable crime in the werewolf world.A more violent, golden flame erupted in Ronan's eyes.He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze sweeping over every wolf in the hall. His presence pressed down on them, heavy as a mountain, stealing the air from their lungs."Now," his voice was a low growl, the sound of judgment from the abyss, "every wolf present will step forward and tell me what happened.""Those who tell the truth may be shown mercy."He paused, his golden eyes scanning the crowd."Those who lie... will answer to me."The hall was deathly silent.Just as everyone was too terrified to speak, Asher suddenly stepped forward."Your... Your Majesty," he stammered, "I thin

The moment the words left my mouth, the pack warriors who had mocked me at the airfield turned deathly pale. They dropped to their knees, trembling, not daring to even lift their heads. But just then, a shrill female voice cut through the tension."Wait! There must be some kind of misunderstanding!"Everyone turned in shock. To everyone's horror, one of Cora's followers, a young she-wolf named Amy, scrambled to her feet."Your... Your Majesty," Amy stammered, "you must have been deceived!"A collective gasp went through the hall."Is she crazy?""She's questioning the King's judgment?""Does she have a death wish?"But Amy was clearly too terrified to think straight. She pointed at me, her voice trembling but insistent."This woman can't be the Luna Queen! She's just a reject from our Silver Moon Pack!"Then, to everyone's horror, she cast a fawning look at Ronan."Your Majesty, you are clearly a powerful Alpha who deserves a true mate. If you require a... more loyal Luna... I would b

His small body scrambled to my side, a blur of motion. He saw the claw marks on my face and the burn from the silver on my neck.Furious tears instantly welled in the child's eyes."Mama..." he whispered, gently touching my cheek. "Does it hurt?"The air was sucked from the room. Every wolf stared, frozen, the single word hanging in the dead silence like a death sentence.Mama?A collective gasp rippled through the hall, followed by a deafening silence. The implication hit them like a physical blow. This woman they had mocked and abused... was the one the Alpha King's pup called "Mama"?"No... it can't be..." Asher's face was ashen, his body trembling uncontrollably."She can't be... She can't possibly be..."The silver pin dropped from Cora's hand, clattering on the floor. She collapsed into a sitting position, her eyes filled with terror and disbelief.Ronan walked slowly toward us.With every step he took, the pressure in the room intensified.By the time he reached my side, the
