Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Crystal K
"Blasphemy!"

The older captain of the guard next to Asher turned pale, his finger trembling as he pointed at me.

"Do you have a death wish? You dare speak the King's name as if you were his equal?!"

"She's trying to bring ruin upon our entire pack!" another wolf cried, backing away in fear.

"The Alpha King's wrath can burn for a thousand miles!"

"We're all going to die because of this crazy bitch!"

The crowd grew restless, panic spreading like a disease.

Everyone stared at me with a mixture of terror and fury, as if I were the harbinger of doom.

Cora hugged her child, a sly, triumphant glint in her eyes.

"Everyone, everyone!" she raised her voice. "I think I know what's going on here."

All eyes turned to her.

Cora put on a pained expression.

"Evelyn... it's her love for Asher that's turned to bitter jealousy."

"What do you mean?" the captain asked, frowning.

"Just think about it," Cora's voice was laced with false sympathy. "After being rejected by Asher, her life these past five years must have been miserable. Now, hearing how legendary the Luna Queen is, the envy and resentment have driven her mad."

She paused, her eyes feigning concern.

"She wants to ruin the Alpha King's reputation! She wants to drag us all down with her!"

"That makes sense!" one wolf exclaimed in realization.

"Jealousy has turned her into a madwoman!"

"Women like her are the most vicious. If they can't be happy, they want everyone else to be miserable!"

But Asher remained unfazed by their fury.

Instead, a cold, mocking smile twisted his lips as he turned to me.

“Evelyn,” he said, shaking his head with the air of a man scolding a foolish child. “You’ve completely lost it.”

“Do you realize who you’re talking to? I was hand-picked by the royals to welcome the Alpha King!”

“Across all the southern lands, only three Alphas received this honor! And I am the youngest!”

He tapped his chest, preening like a peacock in full display.

“My Silver Moon pack is now a favored ally of the Crown. The King himself has taken notice of my capabilities!”

“And you think insulting him in front of me is some sort of pathetic revenge? Is that it?”

I had to fight the urge to gag at the spectacle.

Cora was a master puppeteer, and these were her favorite strings to pull.

Five years ago, she’d used the same venomous whispers to turn me into a pariah.

And here she was, playing the same tired old tune.

As for Asher, he was just as gullible as ever, but with a new, nauseating layer of self-importance.

“But…” Asher’s tone abruptly changed, the anger dissolving into a magnanimous, almost divine, ‘generosity.’

From his suit pocket, he produced a small silk pouch and carelessly tossed it at my feet.

It spilled open, revealing a handful of dull, common energy crystals.

“For old times’ sake,” Asher declared, posing as if he were a god granting a mortal a boon, “I’m willing to offer you a final chance.”

The surrounding wolves looked on in awe.

“Such grace from our Alpha!”

“For her, crystals like these are a fortune!”

“A lesser man would have just cast her out!”

Asher soaked up their adoration, his ego swelling.

“These may be basic, but they’ll be enough. Rent a hovel in the outer rim. Set up a little stall as an herbalist.”

“You can treat surface wounds, mix a few pain potions. That sort of thing.”

Cora chimed in, her voice dripping with false helpfulness. “Only for the lowest Omegas, of course. No self-respecting wolf would let her lay a hand on them.”

“Indeed,” Asher sneered. “In your current state, it’s all you’re capable of.”

He crouched down, his face a mask of false sympathy.

“You should be on your knees thanking me, Evelyn. A chance like this, for someone like you? It’s more than you deserve.”

"Most useless wolves like you end up dying alone in the wilderness."

"But me? I'm still willing to give you a chance to live."

A chorus of praise rose from the crowd.

"The Alpha's heart is so vast!"

"She should be on her knees thanking him!"

"This is far better than what she deserves!"

I almost laughed.

This trash wasn't worth the crystal in one of my son Dotty's teething toys.

A single energy diamond from the royal vault could buy this entire pack's territory ten times over.

And this foolish ex-mate was using this trash to offer me charity.

I gently wiped the ugly 'C' from my neck.

The sacred mark glowed with silver light once more, as if the smudge had never been there.

Then, I looked up at Asher.

A faint smile touched my lips.

"No, thank you, Alpha Asher."

My voice was calm, but held a chill that could freeze a soul.

"I don't accept charity," I said, my voice dangerously soft. "Especially not from a stranger."

Asher's voice dropped to a low, dangerous rumble.

He lunged, his fingers digging into my arm. "You call me a stranger?!"

"Protect the Luna and the Young Prince!"Ronan instantly unleashed a terrifying wave of power, shielding me and Dotty behind him.A dozen royal guards burst in, silver weapons at the ready, searching for the source of the voice."On the balcony!" one of the guards shouted, pointing to the stone balcony outside the chambers. In the moonlight, a pathetic, ragged figure was clinging to the railing.Asher.The once-proud Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack was now gaunt and disheveled. Stripped of his Alpha power, he looked more fragile than a human."Don't move!" the guards raised their weapons."Wait," I said, rising from the Spring of Life and signaling for the guards to stand down. "Let him speak."Asher staggered into the chamber. The old arrogance was gone from his eyes, replaced by a desperate, sick obsession."Evelyn..." he looked at me, his voice raw. "I finally found you.""Say your piece and then get out," Ronan said coldly. "My patience is limited."Asher acted as if he hadn't heard

Warmth.Safety.Life force flowed gently back into me.I opened my eyes and found myself lying in a massive crystal pool. The water glowed with a soft, silver light, radiating the sacred blessing of the Moon Goddess. The Spring of Life, in the royal palace."Evelyn! You're finally awake!"A familiar voice called out.I turned my head and saw my best friend, Sophia, sitting by the edge of the pool. She was the Luna of the Northern Ridge Pack, and one of the few people in the world I trusted completely."Sophia?" My voice was hoarse. "How long was I out?""Three days," she said, taking my hand, her eyes still clouded with worry. "You almost..."She didn't finish, but I knew what she meant.I instinctively touched my stomach."The baby?""Safe," Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. "You and the pup are both out of danger. The Spring of Life saved you."I pushed myself into a sitting position. The silver water sluiced off my skin. The wound on my back was completely healed, without even a

"A Luna... again?"A small, childish voice, dripping with sarcasm, cut through the air.All eyes turned to its source.Four-year-old Dotty stood beside me, his golden eyes burning with a wisdom and rage far beyond his years."And what are you?" the little one asked, tilting his head up to stare fearlessly at Asher. "To dare say something like that to my mother?""You..." Asher was taken aback by the sheer presence of a four-year-old.But Dotty wasn't finished. His small frame was ramrod straight, his young voice cutting through the silence, each word a blade."You say you're her fated mate? Then where is your mark?""My mama only has my papa's mark on her neck. Where's yours?"Snickers rippled through the crowd. It was a valid point. If Asher was her mate, why was there no mark?Dotty continued his ruthless assault."And you want to make my mama a 'Luna again'?"He pointed at Cora, who was trembling as she held her child."Your first Luna couldn't even stand against a four-year-old p

The healer's words exploded in the hall like a bomb."A pup?""The Luna Queen is pregnant?""Gods... she was carrying the royal bloodline, and we let her be treated like that..."Terrified whispers swept through the crowd.Everyone understood the gravity of the situation. Harming a pregnant Luna Queen was the most unforgivable crime in the werewolf world.A more violent, golden flame erupted in Ronan's eyes.He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze sweeping over every wolf in the hall. His presence pressed down on them, heavy as a mountain, stealing the air from their lungs."Now," his voice was a low growl, the sound of judgment from the abyss, "every wolf present will step forward and tell me what happened.""Those who tell the truth may be shown mercy."He paused, his golden eyes scanning the crowd."Those who lie... will answer to me."The hall was deathly silent.Just as everyone was too terrified to speak, Asher suddenly stepped forward."Your... Your Majesty," he stammered, "I thin

The moment the words left my mouth, the pack warriors who had mocked me at the airfield turned deathly pale. They dropped to their knees, trembling, not daring to even lift their heads. But just then, a shrill female voice cut through the tension."Wait! There must be some kind of misunderstanding!"Everyone turned in shock. To everyone's horror, one of Cora's followers, a young she-wolf named Amy, scrambled to her feet."Your... Your Majesty," Amy stammered, "you must have been deceived!"A collective gasp went through the hall."Is she crazy?""She's questioning the King's judgment?""Does she have a death wish?"But Amy was clearly too terrified to think straight. She pointed at me, her voice trembling but insistent."This woman can't be the Luna Queen! She's just a reject from our Silver Moon Pack!"Then, to everyone's horror, she cast a fawning look at Ronan."Your Majesty, you are clearly a powerful Alpha who deserves a true mate. If you require a... more loyal Luna... I would b

His small body scrambled to my side, a blur of motion. He saw the claw marks on my face and the burn from the silver on my neck.Furious tears instantly welled in the child's eyes."Mama..." he whispered, gently touching my cheek. "Does it hurt?"The air was sucked from the room. Every wolf stared, frozen, the single word hanging in the dead silence like a death sentence.Mama?A collective gasp rippled through the hall, followed by a deafening silence. The implication hit them like a physical blow. This woman they had mocked and abused... was the one the Alpha King's pup called "Mama"?"No... it can't be..." Asher's face was ashen, his body trembling uncontrollably."She can't be... She can't possibly be..."The silver pin dropped from Cora's hand, clattering on the floor. She collapsed into a sitting position, her eyes filled with terror and disbelief.Ronan walked slowly toward us.With every step he took, the pressure in the room intensified.By the time he reached my side, the
