Chapter 4

ผู้เขียน: Crystal K
His golden wolf eyes burned with fury.

"Don't play games with me, Evelyn," he snarled, his face inches from mine. "You think I can't see right through you?"

"Asher! Let her go!" Cora cried out, feigning panic as she clutched her child.

But I saw the flash of excitement in her eyes. She loved seeing Asher lose control because of me.

"You still care about me, don't you?" Asher's face was close to mine, his breath hot on my skin. "Why else would you come back? Why else would you look at me like that?"

"Did you think playing hard to get would win back my attention?"

The surrounding wolves began to whisper.

"So she still wants to get back with the Alpha..."

"She really doesn't know when to quit."

"Wasn't being rejected once enough for her?"

Asher released my arm and took a step back.

His anger melted away, replaced by a twisted kind of pity.

"Fine," he sighed, the sound dripping with false pity. "I admit, seeing you so... broken... it does stir a little pity in me."

"Since you're so desperate to see what real high society looks like, I will allow you to accompany me," he announced, as if bestowing a great honor. "It's time you saw what a real court looks like, Evelyn. What true power is."

Cora's face fell. "Asher, what are you doing?"

Asher lifted his chin, his tone still dripping with magnanimity.

"In three days, our pack will host a grand full-moon banquet for the Alpha King. The leaders of all the major packs will be in attendance."

"It's time you saw what a real court looks like, Evelyn. What true power is."

"But," his eyes flashed with disgust, "you have to do something about that... pathetic scent of yours. I won't have you embarrassing the Silver Moon Pack."

A wave of laughter rippled through the crowd.

"The Alpha is so generous!"

"Maybe seeing a real event will snap her back to reality."

"Then she'll know the difference between herself and a true Luna."

I listened quietly, feeling nothing.

That banquet was being held to welcome Ronan and me.

"No, thank you," I replied calmly.

Asher's face flushed crimson.

"What did you say?"

"I said, no, thank you," I repeated. "I have no interest in your banquet."

"You... you're rejecting me?" His face contorted with disbelief. "Do you have any idea how many she-wolves would kill for this opportunity?"

"Do you still think you're the proud Head Healer from five years ago?"

"You're a nobody now! A nothing!"

Cora added fuel to the fire.

"Evelyn, you can't possibly still be fantasizing about marrying into royalty, can you? Wake up. You're not even good enough for a regular Alpha anymore."

"Since she doesn't appreciate the gesture," Asher turned to Cora, his eyes burning with vengeful glee, "then I'll take you to the banquet."

"Really?" Cora's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Of course," Asher said loudly, making sure I could hear. "You are my Luna. It is your right to attend such an important event."

"There, you will see the legendary Luna Queen," he looked at me, a mocking smile on his face, "and you will see what kind of woman is truly worthy of the Alpha King's favor."

"Not some delusional, power-hungry stray."

The wolves around them immediately applauded.

"Luna Cora will be the most beautiful woman at the banquet!"

"Besides the Luna Queen, of course."

"They're not even in the same league."

I turned to leave, tired of their pathetic little drama.

The mixed scents and foul words in this place were becoming unbearable.

There Asher stood, shamelessly letting Cora stand by his side, all but declaring her as his Luna.

And to think, I once waited for a man like this for sixty-six full moons.

He would always come to me reeking of Cora’s scent, pushing me away time and time again.

In the end, I never received the mark from this so-called fated mate.

I remembered how I had stumbled away from the altar.

How I had cried until my throat was raw in the dead of night.

How, in my despair, I had accepted the guidance of the Moon Goddess...

But thinking about it now, all I felt was relief.

Relief that I had escaped this foolish, selfish man.

Relief that I had found my true love.

I stopped and turned back, a slow, knowing smile touching my lips as I looked at him.

"Let's just see," I said softly, "if you're still an Alpha in three days."

  • He Rejected an Omega, I Returned a Queen   Chapter 11

"Protect the Luna and the Young Prince!"Ronan instantly unleashed a terrifying wave of power, shielding me and Dotty behind him.A dozen royal guards burst in, silver weapons at the ready, searching for the source of the voice."On the balcony!" one of the guards shouted, pointing to the stone balcony outside the chambers. In the moonlight, a pathetic, ragged figure was clinging to the railing.Asher.The once-proud Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack was now gaunt and disheveled. Stripped of his Alpha power, he looked more fragile than a human."Don't move!" the guards raised their weapons."Wait," I said, rising from the Spring of Life and signaling for the guards to stand down. "Let him speak."Asher staggered into the chamber. The old arrogance was gone from his eyes, replaced by a desperate, sick obsession."Evelyn..." he looked at me, his voice raw. "I finally found you.""Say your piece and then get out," Ronan said coldly. "My patience is limited."Asher acted as if he hadn't heard

Warmth.Safety.Life force flowed gently back into me.I opened my eyes and found myself lying in a massive crystal pool. The water glowed with a soft, silver light, radiating the sacred blessing of the Moon Goddess. The Spring of Life, in the royal palace."Evelyn! You're finally awake!"A familiar voice called out.I turned my head and saw my best friend, Sophia, sitting by the edge of the pool. She was the Luna of the Northern Ridge Pack, and one of the few people in the world I trusted completely."Sophia?" My voice was hoarse. "How long was I out?""Three days," she said, taking my hand, her eyes still clouded with worry. "You almost..."She didn't finish, but I knew what she meant.I instinctively touched my stomach."The baby?""Safe," Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. "You and the pup are both out of danger. The Spring of Life saved you."I pushed myself into a sitting position. The silver water sluiced off my skin. The wound on my back was completely healed, without even a

"A Luna... again?"A small, childish voice, dripping with sarcasm, cut through the air.All eyes turned to its source.Four-year-old Dotty stood beside me, his golden eyes burning with a wisdom and rage far beyond his years."And what are you?" the little one asked, tilting his head up to stare fearlessly at Asher. "To dare say something like that to my mother?""You..." Asher was taken aback by the sheer presence of a four-year-old.But Dotty wasn't finished. His small frame was ramrod straight, his young voice cutting through the silence, each word a blade."You say you're her fated mate? Then where is your mark?""My mama only has my papa's mark on her neck. Where's yours?"Snickers rippled through the crowd. It was a valid point. If Asher was her mate, why was there no mark?Dotty continued his ruthless assault."And you want to make my mama a 'Luna again'?"He pointed at Cora, who was trembling as she held her child."Your first Luna couldn't even stand against a four-year-old p

The healer's words exploded in the hall like a bomb."A pup?""The Luna Queen is pregnant?""Gods... she was carrying the royal bloodline, and we let her be treated like that..."Terrified whispers swept through the crowd.Everyone understood the gravity of the situation. Harming a pregnant Luna Queen was the most unforgivable crime in the werewolf world.A more violent, golden flame erupted in Ronan's eyes.He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze sweeping over every wolf in the hall. His presence pressed down on them, heavy as a mountain, stealing the air from their lungs."Now," his voice was a low growl, the sound of judgment from the abyss, "every wolf present will step forward and tell me what happened.""Those who tell the truth may be shown mercy."He paused, his golden eyes scanning the crowd."Those who lie... will answer to me."The hall was deathly silent.Just as everyone was too terrified to speak, Asher suddenly stepped forward."Your... Your Majesty," he stammered, "I thin

The moment the words left my mouth, the pack warriors who had mocked me at the airfield turned deathly pale. They dropped to their knees, trembling, not daring to even lift their heads. But just then, a shrill female voice cut through the tension."Wait! There must be some kind of misunderstanding!"Everyone turned in shock. To everyone's horror, one of Cora's followers, a young she-wolf named Amy, scrambled to her feet."Your... Your Majesty," Amy stammered, "you must have been deceived!"A collective gasp went through the hall."Is she crazy?""She's questioning the King's judgment?""Does she have a death wish?"But Amy was clearly too terrified to think straight. She pointed at me, her voice trembling but insistent."This woman can't be the Luna Queen! She's just a reject from our Silver Moon Pack!"Then, to everyone's horror, she cast a fawning look at Ronan."Your Majesty, you are clearly a powerful Alpha who deserves a true mate. If you require a... more loyal Luna... I would b

His small body scrambled to my side, a blur of motion. He saw the claw marks on my face and the burn from the silver on my neck.Furious tears instantly welled in the child's eyes."Mama..." he whispered, gently touching my cheek. "Does it hurt?"The air was sucked from the room. Every wolf stared, frozen, the single word hanging in the dead silence like a death sentence.Mama?A collective gasp rippled through the hall, followed by a deafening silence. The implication hit them like a physical blow. This woman they had mocked and abused... was the one the Alpha King's pup called "Mama"?"No... it can't be..." Asher's face was ashen, his body trembling uncontrollably."She can't be... She can't possibly be..."The silver pin dropped from Cora's hand, clattering on the floor. She collapsed into a sitting position, her eyes filled with terror and disbelief.Ronan walked slowly toward us.With every step he took, the pressure in the room intensified.By the time he reached my side, the
