Chapter 7

Author: Strawberry Tart
Juliet's face flushed an unnatural shade of red, the color spreading from her cheekbones all the way to her ears. Yet her lips were drained of color, trembling faintly with each shallow breath.

A sharp pain spread across her chest as if something inside her were about to burst. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't open her eyes.

A familiar voice sounded near her ear. "Is Ms. Bennett going to be alright, Mr. Henderson?"

Caspian noticed how calm Willow looked and felt an inexplicable wave of irritation. His expression hardened as he snarled, "What do you think? She drank alcohol and took metronidazole. Of course, it's serious!"

Willow stiffened when she heard his harsh tone. Then, she lifted her chin stubbornly. "Mr. Henderson, if anything happens to Ms. Bennett, I'm willing to take full responsibility. If she dies, I'll answer with my own life."

Without saying a word, he stared at her, his expression inscrutable.

Willow's heart raced, but she took a deep breath, stepped forward, and softened her tone.

"This is all my fault, Mr. Henderson. If I had checked the label properly, I wouldn't have grabbed the wrong medicine… and Ms. Bennett wouldn't be suffering right now. If you want to punish me, go ahead. I'll accept any punishment you give!"

Caspian sighed, pulled her into his arms, and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry, Willie. She'll be fine. I'll take care of everything."

Willow pursed her lips, tears trickling down her cheeks. "But I did make a mistake. I need to pay for it."

Caspian lowered his head and looked at her helplessly. "Do you really want to pay for it?"

Willow nodded as tears slid down her otherwise calm face. "However you want to punish me, I'll—"

"Marry me." He pecked her lips, his tone dead serious. "Willie, you disappeared right after you saved me. We've already missed out on so many years. I don't want us to be apart anymore."

Willow froze for a moment before nodding. "Alright."

When Juliet heard that, her chest tightened so painfully that she couldn't bear it anymore. In the end, she coughed up a mouthful of blood and blacked out on the spot.

When Juliet finally regained consciousness, she had no idea how many days had passed. She opened her eyes, the sharp ache in her chest making it hard to breathe.

Caspian rushed over the moment she stirred. "You're finally up."

Juliet looked at him coldly. Her voice was so hoarse that it was barely audible. "Where's Willow?"

His expression shifted. He knew Juliet had been spoiled all these years, and he feared she might go after Willow. So, he handed her the documents in his hand.

"She took the wrong medicine because she was drunk and lightheaded. She didn't do it on purpose, and I've already decided on a punishment for her. This is something I prepared just for her. Sign it, and I'll put her to work."

He had prepared something just for Willow? Was he going to put her to work?

Was he talking about a divorce agreement for Juliet and making Willow work hard as the new lady of the Henderson family?

Juliet sneered inwardly. With a stoic expression, she accepted the document, signed it, and handed it back to him. "I hope you keep your word."

Caspian had braced himself for an argument. He hadn't expected her to sign it so readily.

He took the document and said, "I'll go take care of this first. Get some rest. I'll come check on you later."

As Juliet watched him walk away, she suddenly remembered how nervous she had been when he woke up from his coma. She had been terrified he wouldn't like her. Yet when he had said, "Please take care of me from now on", her heart had exploded with joy.

However, all of that was gone now.

Juliet tried to get out of bed when a sharp pain tore through her chest. In a heartbeat, a metallic tang rushed up her throat, and she coughed out a mouthful of blood.

Rowan, who had just reached the door, witnessed this scene. His eyes widened in shock. "Juliet!"

The moment she laid eyes on him, all her bottled-up frustration burst free. As she clutched his wrist, tears streamed down her face. "Ro…"

Rowan scooped her into his arms in one swift motion. His expression was dark with fury as he yelled over his shoulder, "Get a doctor, now!"

Within minutes, a doctor rushed in. After a thorough examination, his expression was grim.

"Ms. Bennett's health is far too fragile. We can't treat her here. She needs to be transferred abroad immediately!"

Rowan's eyes misted over as he made calls to hospitals abroad. Ten minutes later, he boarded a plane with an unconscious Juliet.

Juliet assumed Caspian was only talking offhandedly. Yet, a group of people rushed into her room at the break of dawn. Before she could figure out what was going on, a makeup artist was already pressing a powder puff to her cheek, and a hairstylist had started working on her hair. By the time she was fully awake, she was already dressed in a couture wedding gown adorned with tiny sparkling diamonds. Caspian descended the stairs in a crisp black suit, holding a velvet box in his hand. He walked up to her and opened it, revealing a custom diamond ring. His voice was syrupy sweet as he said, "I wanted to surprise you. There were a few bumps along the way, but it all worked out in the end."As soon as those words left his lips, he seized her hand and forcefully slid the ring onto her finger. Then, he slid the matching band onto his own finger and lowered his head to kiss the two overlapping rings, his eyes filled with a fervent devotion that bordered on obsession. "I love you, Jul

Juliet spent the next few days trapped inside the villa. Every window was sealed shut with thick wooden boards, and the door was secured with multiple locks. A line of black-clad bodyguards was stationed outside, and the housekeepers were constantly moving around. The villa was so tightly guarded that not even a fly could slip through.Juliet sat on the edge of the empty, king-sized bed with a stormy expression. The housekeeper beside her assumed she was worried about Caspian and hurried over to comfort her. "Mrs. Henderson, please don't worry too much about Mr. Henderson. He'll be fine."Juliet let out a cold, derisive chuckle. "You're comforting the wrong person. I'd love nothing more than to see him dead."The housekeeper froze. Her face flushed crimson, and she was at a loss for words. Just then, the door behind them swung open. "Jules." Caspian's complexion was pallid as he leaned heavily on a crutch and slowly made his way in. Her harsh words still pricked his heart

Juliet watched as the housekeepers hurried in and out of the villa with beer bottles. In no time, the living room floor was covered with shards of broken glass. Before she could figure out what was going on, Caspian gathered all the housekeepers. Then, right in front of them, he stripped down to nothing but his underwear and looked at Juliet with a solemn, almost devout expression."Jules, I'll repay you for all the suffering you endured, one by one." Right after saying that, he tipped backward and fell straight onto the glass.Sharp fragments sliced into his skin, and blood pooled across the floor like spilled paint. He rolled over the shards without even flinching.Juliet's pupils contracted. A blurred image flashed across her mind, followed by a splitting headache, and her vision went blank. When she opened her eyes again, she looked like a different person. Her fists were clenched, and a blood-red haze filled her gaze as she glared at the man in front of her. After rolling

When Rowan pushed the door open and walked in, he found Juliet curled up by the window, zoning out. The sunlight stretched her shadow long and thin across the floor. His chest tightened as if a needle had pierced him.He crossed the room in a few strides and wrapped his arms around her from behind before resting his chin against the curve of her shoulder. His voice was rough and gravelly. "Forget him, Juliet."Juliet jolted and instinctively tried to break free from his hold. However, the more she thrashed, the tighter he held her. In the end, she pressed her lips together and stayed still, letting him hold her."I want to remember, Rowan," she said quietly. "Juliet!" He abruptly spun her around, forcing her to meet his gaze. Her eyes were teary like a frightened rabbit's. "Why do you want to remember all those awful memories? All you need to do is remember me! I'll stay by your side for the rest of my life. I'm not going anywhere."His Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice was sh

Rowan's expression darkened in an instant. He strode forward and positioned himself in front of Juliet, cutting off Caspian's line of sight. The look in his eyes was sharp and cold like a blade dipped in ice, and the hostility radiating off him made the air around them feel heavy.Caspian froze when he saw Rowan's stance. All of a sudden, he remembered what Evan had mentioned. He pursed his lips before adopting a conciliatory tone. "You must be Jules's younger brother, right? I finally found you. Thank you for saving my wife! Once we're back home, I'll definitely—"Before he could finish, Rowan punched him in the face with all his might. "How dare you call her your wife?" Caspian was caught off guard. He stumbled backward and hit the ground hard, hissing through clenched teeth. However, when he noticed the murderous look in Rowan's eyes, something clicked, and his gaze turned cold. "Our divorce hasn't been finalized yet. Juliet is still my wife! Who the hell do you think you ar

  • He Stands at the End of My Past   Chapter 13

At the foot of the Elps stood the Valls Sanatorium, and within it lived a peculiar young woman with amnesia. She insisted she had just been taking her high school graduation photos when she tripped, hit her head, and somehow woke up as a 28-year-old woman. Unable to accept the truth, she spent her days on her knees at the base of the mountain, praying to be taken back in time."Juliet!" Rowan appeared out of nowhere with a bouquet of sunflowers. His puppy-like eyes shone as he offered them to her. "Do you like today's flowers?"Juliet opened her eyes and wrinkled her nose. Looking at the man who was much older than she was, she fumed, "Dude, I'm not your older sister. You're way older than me, and I'm an only child. Besides, who would even like these ugly sunflowers? Take them away and stop bothering me while I'm praying!" Rowan's lips curved slightly. Juliet had found him on the streets when she was 18, so it was understandable that she no longer recognized him."Fine. I'll c
