“I want you back, Laura.” He muttered, and I looked at him like he had just said the biggest joke in history. He wants me to foolishly accept him with open arms after everything he did to me? He must be dreaming. “It's too late. I do not want you anymore.” I replied and turned to leave, but he blocked my path. “I know I hurt you, but if you'd just give me another chance, I promise not to hurt you again. I love you.” “Keep your feelings to yourself, Antonio. I'm engaged. My wedding is in a month. You're invited!” I threw the invitation at him and walked away. ***** Laura is shocked when her husband, Antonio, returns from work one day and throws a divorce paper in her face. He already signed it and asked her to sign her part. She had given up everything to be with him, and even though he treated her like trash, she still loved him and was ready to bear the pains that came with the marriage just to be with him, but a divorce paper? Nah, that was just too much. When she refuses to sign, Antonio brings another woman into the house, and instantly Laura knows she is no longer needed. Not being able to bear the ache of seeing them together, she leaves but unknown to her, she was pregnant. 5 years later, she was back with an adorable baby boy, but she is no longer the Laura everyone knew. Her ex-husband wants her back, but it's already too late. She was remarrying.

I was wiping down the windows when I heard the oven beep. I immediately abandoned the rag in favor of hurrying to the kitchen and rescuing the lasagna from the oven.
The smell of well cooked lasagna filled the house as I pulled out the tray and dropped it on the kitchen counter to cool. It was one of Antonio's favorite meals and I knew he'd be pleased to get back from work to a hot meal and a sparkling house. There was nothing I enjoyed more than taking care of my husband, but if I was being honest, all my efforts these days were for the sole aim of appeasing my husband.
Our once joyous union was now filled with so much cruelty and derision. I hated to admit it, but Antonio had changed overnight and I was now remembering all my family's warnings at the beginning and if maybe I should have needed them.
I pushed the dark thought out of my mind. I loved Antonio and I knew that we could work through whatever had broken between us. Love could fix anything. It may have sounded naive to most people, but I strongly believed it. Our marriage would be fine.
Just as I had the thought, I heard his car pull into the driveway. My heart leaped in my chest. My husband was back. I threw off the apron and ran my fingers through my thick chestnut hair, making sure I looked beautiful and presentable to him. I knew I was a beautiful woman and I wasn't ashamed to use that to my advantage when it came to Antonio.
"Laura." He called.
I smiled in joy. It had been so long since Antonio had returned home and immediately sought me. Usually, he either marched to our bedroom or his home office. This was a pleasant development. "In here." I called.
A moment later, the stunning figure of my husband walked into the kitchen. Antonio was probably the most handsome man in the world. He looked like a movie star with his full head of dark hair, his eyes that were the color of melted chocolate and the perfect bone structure of his face. He was over six feet tall with broad shoulders and a deliciously fit body. Today, he was in a three piece charcoal suit that made him look even more appealing. His looks had been the first thing I had fallen for, and then his charisma and then his kindness.
"Hey, you're back." I said with a smile. "I made you your favorite, la-"
My words were cut off as some documents suddenly flew at me, hitting me in the face. "Ouch. What was that?"
"Look at it." He snapped.
I gave him a hurt look before bending down to pick the papers. As I read the words at the top of the document, my legs turned into jelly and I nearly collapsed, bracing myself against the kitchen counter at the last minute.
I looked up at him in panic. "An- Antonio, w-what's this?"
"Can't you read?" He growled. "They're divorce papers. You need to sign it."
If you go through it to the bottom, you'll see that I've already signed my part, it's just your signature that's left. So, sign it and let's end this Godforsaken marriage already, he said with so much contempt in his voice.
"What is this about Antonio? Why divorce?" I asked, my voice tottering and my heart beating faster than normal.
He scoffed. “Is it not obvious that this marriage isn't working? "Sign the goddamn papers, Laura. This marriage was a mistake from the beginning and there's nothing left between us."
My heart cracked in my chest. "a mistake? No. You can't say that." I gave up my life and family for this marriage. He couldn't just declare out of the blues that we were a mistake. "Why are you doing this?”
"Don't you get it." He roared, slapping a palm down on the counter. "I don't want to work with you anymore. I don't want you. How is that so hard for you to grasp? Sign the fucking papers and let's get this mess done and over with."
"No, Antonio. I won't sign it," I yelled, shaking my head in rejection. What in God's name is going on? For God's sake, we've been through a lot to call it a quit! I gave up my life and family for this marriage, you can't just throw away those sacrifices as if they meant nothing to you…Please, Antonio, whatever the issue is, let's talk it out, I believe we can work. I pleaded, holding his hands. He withdrew his hands from me disgustingly.
"Enough! Laura. Stop insisting cos' my mind is made up and there's no going back. “I don't love you anymore and I don't want to have anything to do with you again”, period! So, the earlier you realize that this marriage is over and sign those papers, the better for you cos' I've moved on.
"He was mean, treating me like a piece of trash, but I refused to give up because I knew the man I had met and fallen in love with was in there somewhere and I wasn't going to rest until I got him back. These past few months together had been difficult, Antonio was always in a bad mood, he worked too much and well, we had become two strangers in this house, but I would never have suspected that this was what it had all been leading to.
"Stop saying such cruel things. You're hurting me." I said in a small voice, tears blurring my vision.
"The problem with you is that you see the world like a fairytale. We aren't a fairytale, Laura. We've tried and we didn't work. It's time to move on." He pointed to the papers in my hand that felt more like hot metal burning me. "That's our first step to moving on. It's what's best for both of us."
"I won't sign it." I said again.
"Don't make me take drastic actions."
I squared my shoulders, "do your worst. I'm not signing this. We can fix this, Antonio. If you just give us another chance."
He threw his head back and laughed cruelly. "fix us? Give us another chance?" He snorted. "Will your womb suddenly become fertile then, Laura?"
My mouth dropped open in shock.
"Antonio, how dare you?"
"You are barren, face it. If you weren't, by now this house would be filled with children. You cannot give me children, so what other use do I have of you?"
“But you promised to love me unconditionally”, I snapped! my voice mixed with pain and anguish, tears gushing down my cheeks profusely.
"Sign those papers." He said finally before walking away.
I stood there for endless minutes, so

Cole’s POVThere’s a moment just before you do something irreversible, a moment when the air stills, when the world slows, and you ask yourself if you’re sure.Standing there on the balcony, watching Laura in that green dress, her hair swaying gently with the night breeze, I felt that moment crackling in the space between us. And the answer came easily. Yes. I was sure. She wasn’t like the others. And this wasn’t a game.“I’m starting to care about you,” I said, my voice quieter than usual, but heavier with truth. Her breath caught, not visibly, but I felt it, like a subtle shift in pressure. She looked up at me with those wide, uncertain eyes. No pretense. No calculated move. Just raw emotion.I wanted to close the space between us. To feel the warmth of her skin under my fingers, to see if her lips tasted like the champagne she'd sipped earlier. But I held back.Because I knew what this meant. And once I crossed that line, there’d be no going back.We didn’t speak much during the r
Laura’s POVThe next few days flew by like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. Each morning, I arrived early. Each night, I stayed late, not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I was starting to love my job, not just because of the respect or the routine, but because I was finally doing something that mattered. I was useful. I was growing.Cole had become a different person with me.He wasn’t just my boss anymore, he was… something else.More relaxed. More approachable. More present. He started trusting me with bigger responsibilities. I wasn’t just handling his schedule anymore. I was sitting in on vendor meetings, reviewing contracts, giving input during presentations. One afternoon, he asked me to draft a client proposal, and when I handed it over, he reviewed it and said, “Impressive. I barely had to change anything.”I blushed at the praise, though I tried to hide it.But that wasn’t even the most surprising thing that happened that week. It was Friday. The sky was d
Laura’s POVThe boardroom was nothing like I had imagined. The ceiling stretched high with recessed lighting, casting a soft glow over the long oval table made of polished mahogany. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the city, and the skyline sparkled like a sea of diamonds against the morning light.Twelve men and women sat around the table, department heads, stakeholders, legal advisors. Power radiated from every corner of the room. And then there was me. The assistant.I clutched the folder to my chest and quietly took the seat Cole gestured toward, directly beside him. His presence was calm but commanding, and having him close gave me a strange sense of comfort. I reminded myself to breathe.“Let’s get started,” he said, breaking the silence. “There’s been a critical correction made to the FenixTech proposal. I want to acknowledge the person who caught it before we go any further.”The room shifted. Curious glances. A few raised brows.Cole looked at me.“This is
Laura’s POVThe rest of the afternoon passed like a blur. After lunch with Nora, I returned to my office with renewed energy, determined to keep up the momentum. There was still so much to prove, not just to Cole, but to myself.I was halfway through drafting a client follow-up letter when my office phone rang.I reached for the receiver quickly. “Hello, this is Laura.”“Come to my office,” Cole’s voice said , calm, direct, and, as always, with no room for negotiation.“Yes, sir.”I stood up, smoothed down my top, took the notebook I had been jotting down in all day, and headed straight for his office. My heels clicked lightly across the polished floor, but it wasn’t the sound that echoed in my head. It was that same tiny voice whispering: Don’t mess this up.I knocked twice.“Come in.”I opened the door to find him seated behind his massive desk, brows furrowed in concentration. His jacket was off this time, sleeves rolled just enough to show strong forearms. He looked… less like a C
Chapter 7Laura’s POVThe way Mr. Cole kept staring at me made me uncomfortable. My heart raced as I waited for him to say something — anything. But he just sat there, eyes fixed on me, like he was trying to figure something out.I cleared my throat softly and held out the documents."Sir, these are the documents you asked me to go through. I discovered a few errors and thought it best to bring them to your attention before filing them."He blinked once, then slowly reached for the documents.“You made corrections?” he finally asked, voice calm but with a trace of surprise.“Yes, sir. I made notes beside the errors and suggested corrections in the margins,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. He flipped through the pages silently. With each turn, I watched his expression, looking for any sign of disappointment or approval. A tense minute passed before he looked up again, this time with a slight smile playing on his lips.“Well done, Laura. I appreciate your attention to detail,
COLE’S POV SEVEN YEARS AGO It was 7 pm and I was bored, so I decided to go see my friend, Antonio, so that we could play some games and probably go out to chill later. Although I had called him several times, his number was not reachable. I was worried because we spoke on the phone earlier and now I couldn't reach him. Somehow, I felt something wasn't right. I made up my mind to go to his house to find out what could be wrong. His house was just five miles away. So, it was walkable from my house. In no time, I was already at his house. I strolled up the stairs. I noticed the sitting room door was not locked. I opened the door and entered. As I walked, I saw clothes scattered everywhere in the passageway; bras, boxers, shirts, etc. I got to his room door and came to a halt as the sound of moans filled the atmosphere. It was a feminine voice. “Omg! Fuck me harder baby. Go deeper baby." "Don't stop fucking me. Continue hitting me on the spot till I cum…" I heard it when I op
