Clara stared at him with so much pain in her heart, seeing he had already made up his mind and there was nothing she could do, she stared at the papers, ready to sign.
Xavier noticed she was ready, he handed her a pen and she took it.
As she was about to sign the papers, she thought about how her life would be over once she signed them. Her parents will abandon her, she will have nowhere to go, and the humiliation she will get from everyone in the city. Her life will be ruined!
“I… I can't sign this.” She muttered and dropped the papers.
“Xavier, please. We can make this work, I will get pregnant, and I will give you an heir.” Clara pleaded in tears but he ignored it.
“Let's just get this over with, okay? It's been two years and there is nothing to gain from this marriage. Katherine is back and she is pregnant, I want to be with her.”
Despite all he had said, Clara still wasn't ready to sign the divorce papers. She has no life without Xavier.
“No, I can't.” She muttered.
“Sign the fucking papers, Clara.” He suddenly snapped at her and pinned her to the wall roughly.
Clara’s eyes widened in shock as her heart raced.
“You will sign those papers right now.” He said sternly as he pulled away from her. He picked up the papers and handed them to her.
Despite being in a loveless marriage for two years, he has never yelled at her. It was surprising to her, it was like she didn't know the man in her presence anymore.
With trembling hands, Clara took the papers and signed them. She really doesn't have any choice anymore.
Immediately she signed them, and Xavier sighed in relief.
Clara sniffed as tears streamed down her eyes, he really couldn't wait to get rid of her.
“Thank you.” He muttered as he looked away from her.
“You have fifteen percent of my properties and… “
“I don't want anything from you.” She cut him off, raising her voice a little. She was so mad and sad.
She was mad because he was enjoying this, he also got violent with her over it. He stared at her for a few seconds before chuckling.
He understands how she was feeling but he doesn't care, all that matters to him is the divorce and how he would take care of Kathrine.
“Good, you have until tomorrow evening to leave my house because Kathrine is moving in.” He added. Clara stared at him for a few seconds hoping he would say something else but he didn't, instead, he walked away from her into the bathroom.
Clara walked out of the room with a heavy heart.
She is no longer Mrs. Blackwell. What is she going to do? She has no life except for this. Her parents will make it worse for her. Her marriage to Xavier is the reason they are billionaires, now that she isn't married to him anymore, things will change.
She regrets she never had any other life apart from being married to Xavier.
Clara cried herself to sleep that night, hoping she would wake up and see it was all a bad dream.
Waking up the next day, Clara felt worse. She was sad it wasn't a nightmare and it was all real, she was no longer married to Xavier Blackwell.
The only thing she could do was to inform her parents, it wasn't a good idea but it would be better to hear the news from her than anyone.
She picked up her phone and called her mother, she picked up immediately.
“Clara, glad you called. I was about to call you, pit company needs a new investor. I was thinking you could talk to your husband if he could help.” She said,
Clara felt a sting in her chest, she couldn't say anything. How is she supposed to break the news to her?
“Clara? Are you there?” She heard her mother ask.
She hurriedly ended the call and exhaled heavily.
Ignoring everything, she decided to see if she could convince Xavier to take her back. All she needs to do is plead.
She was about to walk towards the door when it opened revealing Xavier’s mother.
“There she is. The barren.” She said as she walked fully into the room. She looked around the room before looking at Clara.
“And why haven't you started packing your bags? Do you need help?” She asked.
Clara couldn't help but feel bad and surprised.
How did his mother know about it so fast? Has everyone been anticipating the divorce?
“Do you need help packing them? I will gladly help.” She mocked. Tears welled up in Clara’s eyes.
Xavier’s mother used to love her so much but everything changed when she couldn't give them a heir after a year.
“Why are you still waiting? Get packing and get the hell out of my son’s house.” She yelled at Clara.
She flinched and stood up from the bed immediately. With teary eyes, Clara walked towards her closet.
“I just thought about something. Everything you have was given to you by my son which means you owe nothing. You don't have to leave with any bags.” She mocked and Clara sniffed as she finally looked up at her.
Her head has been down in shame all this while.
“Mrs. Blackwell… “
“Oh please.” She rolled her eyes.
“Don't try to plead, my son already made up his mind and besides, we have someone who can give him an heir already so you are useless.”
Clara’s lips parted slightly in shock, all this was because she couldn't give them an heir. She couldn't believe this was the woman who used to love her so much.
Clara looked away in shame, Mrs. Blackwell kept talking but it sounded distant to her. She kept saying hateful words, Clars felt her heart race as her vision started to get blurry. In a flash, she fell to the floor, Mrs. Blackwell’s voice was all she heard before blacking out.
“I think it is too early to go shopping, right?” Clara asked as she trailed behind Lucy in the baby store.“No.” Lucy replied without turning to her.“Why do I have to help then?” Clara asked and Lucy turned to her.“Because you offered to.”“I thought you wouldn't accept it, you don't like me.” Clara replied and Lucy nodded.“That is true but anything for my baby. Also, I was thinking if I hang out with you, I might have twins too.” She said and Clara rolled her eyes.“It doesn't work that way.”“I don't care.” Lucy replied and continued shopping.“Do you know who runs the organization now?” She asked out of the blue and Clara shook her head in response.“Not yet.”“Xavier said you are close.”“Yes.” “Do you have any idea who it might be?” “Yes.” Clara replied and Lucy turned to her.“Really? Who is it?” She asked, raising her brows.“None of your business.” Clara replied with a smile and she scoffed before looking away. They kept shopping in silence till Lucy broke it. “The twin'
“Well, you need a very long list.” Xavier replied and Bryan’s eyes widened.“What?” He asked and Kaylen smiled at him.“Ignore it.” He told him.“I know, the earlier you start the better, get on with it.” Clara replied.“What? Now?” He asked.“Yes, I will wait.” Clara replied and walked fully into the living room.“I know my way around, I once lived here before you kicked me out to die.” Clara yelled as she made her way into the kitchen. Xavier sighed and shook his head before walking towards the study. The twins chuckled and headed to the kitchen with Bryan. They met Clara going through the fridge with a smile.“Oh, I like that.” She said as she found a bowl of ice cream, she carried it out with a smile. She looked around and noticed there weren't so many maids in the house. “Why aren't there any maids here?” Clara asked as she dropped the bowl on the counter.“Dad got rid of a lot, he said we should be careful.” Kaylen replied and she nodded. She grabbed a little bowl and heade
THE NEXT DAY Clara slowly pulled a chair towards the man tied to a chair in the middle of the room. He had bruises all over and his face was swollen due to beating. He was the man her men caught last night, she gave the order to kill him in the morning if he didn't say anything that could help. Her men was about to kill him when she changed her mind at the last minute. She decided to question him herself before deciding what to do with him. She stopped when she got to him, she placed the chair properly in front of him then took a seat. She sighed and stared at the gun in her hand for a few seconds before looking up at him. As much pain as he was in, he managed to smirk and try to hide his weakness and fear.“You know why we are doing this, you know what I am about to ask so let's get on with this so everyone can go home happily.” Clara said and he chuckled.“Oh, Anastasia.” He muttered.“The best in the organization, the best person to get a job done, beautiful and brilliant.” H
Kaylen spent the day with Clara and went to different places with her. He followed her to her other warehouses and meetings. He had fun and he was glad he spent time with her. It was late already and Clara made sure Kaylen got home safely. She was also glad they spent the day together. Kaylen walked into the house, he met his father and sisters in the living room. “Where are you coming from?” Xavier asked with a stern look as he walked towards him. Kaylen raised his brows surprised and hurriedly checked the time on his phone to see if he passed his curfew.“I… I didn't pass my curfew.” He said.“That wasn't the question I asked you.” Xavier replied. “I was with Clara, I spent the day with her.” He answered.“And who did you tell about this?” “Kaylee, I texted her.” He lied knowing Kaylee would have his back. Xavier turned to Kaylee and she nodded at him.“Yes. Daddy. He told me.” Kaylee agreed and Xavier turned back to Kaylen.“Why did you go and see her?” Xavier asked and Kayl
DAYS LATER It's been days since Lucy and Carl’s engagement party. Mrs. Blackwell was discharged from the hospital after she got better in a few days, Xavier and Carl were trying to find out who poisoned her if it wasn't Clara. When they couldn't find anything, they both concluded that Clara did it. After that day at the hospital, Clara didn't show up and no one heard from her. Everything was back to normal and the twins were back to school too. Carl and Xavier were waiting and keeping their guards up in case Clara tried to make a move. ~The bell rang signifying the school had ended for the day, Kaylen stood up immediately and picked up his bag.He was about to walk out when Bryan stopped him.“Where are you heading to? We have practice.” He said.“Yeah, I have somewhere I need to be. Can you give Kaylee a ride home?” He asked and Bryan smiled. Kaylen frowned at him and his smile faded.“Sure, I will give her a ride home.” He replied. Kaylen raised his brow and took a step closer
Clara watched as Mrs. Blackwell was rushed out of the ballroom with everyone else. The few guests left in the room started to leave. In minutes, the ballroom was empty. She slowly sat at a table and relaxed in the seat. “That was a lot.” She muttered as she poured herself another glass. She exhaled heavily and took a sip. She checked the time on her phone and realized it had been over twenty minutes. “Should I go to the hospital too?” She asked out loud as she played with the glass in her hand. “I guess I should.” She said after thinking about it for a few seconds. She looked at the bottle of wine on the table and realized it was still halfway through. “After I finish this bottle.” She added with a smile. Clara walked into the hospital and walked to one of the nurses, she knew the hospital they were in. The Blackwells only use one hospital, the hospital they donate to every year, and built a private wing in it. “Excuse me, I am here to see Mrs. Blackwell. I am her daug
