Chapter 61

The warehouse where Nathan was kept stank of rust and dampness, the air heavy with the metallic tang of blood. Somewhere in the shadows, rats scurried, their claws scratching against concrete, but their sound was faint compared to the low groans of a man bound to a chair in the centre of the room.

Nathan Cain’s head lolled forward, his face swollen and battered, his lips cracked and bleeding. His once-pristine shirt was now shredded and soaked through out with crimson stains. The untouchable Nathan Cain was now in Jasper’s clutches all because of his love for Elena.

Two thugs lingered nearby, their silhouettes illuminated by a single hanging bulb that swayed faintly overhead, making the shadows dance across the walls. One leaned against a steel beam, casually flipping a pocketknife open and shut, while the other stood watch at the heavy iron door, his arms crossed, his expression unreadable.

It had been hours.... maybe days. Nathan had lost count ever since he’d been dragg

  • He chose My sister over me and I made him regret it for life   Chapter 64

Chapter 64I remember sitting on the couch, knees pulled to my chest, the glow of the television painting shadows across the walls. The news anchor’s voice was calm, professional, but my heart felt like it was shattering with every word.“Breaking tonight: businessman and philanthropist Nathan Cain has been reported missing. Police confirm he did not board his scheduled international flight, and his whereabouts remain unknown. His family and team have released this statement…”And then I saw him... Nathan’s father standing at a podium, the cameras flashing like lightning all around him. His voice was steady, but I could hear the strain behind it.“My son is a good man. He has dedicated his life to helping others, and now we are asking for help in return. If anyone has information about Nathan’s location, we urge you to come forward. There will be a substantial reward for any lead that brings him home safely.”The figure was staggering. Millions. That amount was enough to catch anyone’

  • He chose My sister over me and I made him regret it for life   Chapter 63

Chapter 63I didn’t know that fear could spread so quickly, like a storm spilling through every part of your body until it controls your every breath. That’s what it felt like the moment I realized Nathan wasn’t just missing.... he was taken and swallowed by something darker than I could understand. The police had been working, yes, but they were slow..... too slow. Their investigation felt like water dripping from a broken tap... one drop at a time, useless against the wildfire burning in my chest but everything changed the morning Nathan’s father arrived at the station.I had only seen Mr. Cain a handful of times, mostly in stiff family settings. He was the kind of man who carried power in his very posture, a businessman who spoke rarely but commanded rooms when he did. Seeing him storm into the station that morning was like watching a general prepare for war. His grey suit was pressed, his shoes gleamed, but his face.... oh God, his face looked ten years older than the last time I

Chapter 62Jasper’s eyes darkened, rage simmering beneath their surface. He straightened and delivered a sharp backhand to Nathan’s face, the crack echoing off the walls. Blood sprayed across the concrete floor. Jasper wiped his own hand with a silk handkerchief as if Nathan’s blood was nothing more than a stain to be cleaned away.“You’ll regret every word,” Jasper said coldly. He turned to the thugs. “Keep torturing him, make him bleed and make sure he understands who’s in control, make sure to keep an eye on him because he is a smart ass.”The thugs nodded, one stepping forward to tighten Nathan’s restraints while the other hovered near the door.As Jasper began to walk out, his phone buzzed. He answered without hesitation, his voice softening instantly.“Yes?” he said. There was a pause. “The police? Already?” His jaw clenched. “No, no, don’t panic. Let them look. They’ll find nothing. As far as they’re concerned, Nathan Cain never even made it to the airport.”Nathan froze at th

  • He chose My sister over me and I made him regret it for life   Chapter 60

Chapter 60It was Nathan. My breath caught in my throat. He walked through the terminal in his usual calm stride, his suitcase rolling behind him, his jacket slung casually over his arm. I felt a pang in my chest, seeing him like that. He was so close, so alive, yet untouchable. We watched as he approached the check-in desk, handed over his documents, and received his boarding pass. Everything was normal. My eyes didn’t blink, afraid I’d miss a detail. But then... he walked away from the gate area. Not toward security. Not toward the boarding terminal. Instead, he veered toward a side hallway.“Where’s he going?” I whispered. The footage followed him as far as it could, but then the camera coverage ended. He disappeared. My heart stopped. “No... no, rewind it! He wouldn’t just walk away from his flight! He wouldn’t....”The officer rewound and zoomed in. It was unmistakable. Nathan had made a deliberate choice to walk down that corridor. But he wasn’t alone.Seconds later, two men fol

  • He chose My sister over me and I made him regret it for life   Chapter 59

Chapter 59What I found was a plane ticket bill. The thin piece of paper felt heavier than anything I had ever held. I clutched the plane ticket bill in my trembling hand like it was the last thread connecting me to Nathan. My heart thumped loudly in my chest as if it were trying to break free, and every step toward the police station felt like wading through water. When I got there, Inspector Hayes was waiting, arms crossed, his sharp eyes narrowing as he spotted the ticket bill.“You found something?” he asked quickly, as though afraid I’d vanish before handing it over.“Yes,” I said, my voice breaking. “This.... this was in his drawer. He was supposed to be on a flight.”His gaze flickered down at the ticket bill, and he studied it with the precision of someone who knew that every second counted. He didn’t waste time. “We’re going to the airport, now. If he boarded this flight then we will end this investigation on the note that he left voluntarily but if he didn’t board the fligh
