Chapter 5

Author: Soda Pop
I clenched onto my bag tightly as I hurried out of the corridor.

As I was rushing, I didn't see where I was going and ended up bumping into someone accidentally.

The man held me by my shoulders. Then, I heard him saying in an euphonious voice, "I'm sorry. Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine…"

Tempted to curl myself up into my coat, I kept my head down.

"You don't look like you're okay. Do you need help?" he probed again.

I lifted my head and took a glance at the man with a pleasant-sounding voice.

The man had the bearing of an elite businessman. He was in a black, smart-looking suit, and he had buttoned his shirt all the way up to his neck. Even his hair was meticulously styled.

"Why are the both of you tugging at one another? What are you doing?" Tyler yelled out at me from the other end of the corridor after he dashed out after me.

He stormed over. His shiny leather shoes against the red carpet appeared heavy and solemn, giving him an air of superiority.

He jeered, "I see you've found someone new. It's no wonder that you dared to embarrass me in public."

I wanted to leave the corridor as I listened to that remark of his.

There was no need to involve unrelated people into the matters between Tyler and I. After all, Tyler was the most powerful in all of Burgton City, while that man looked like an average businessman who couldn't afford to offend Tyler.

However, the man stuffed a handkerchief into my hands.

"Wipe your tears," he said in a calm and tender voice.

As he said that, he walked out of the corridor with me.

Subsequently, I heard someone from the other end of the corridor say, "I've seen that person at an auction. He's a big shot from Napolo City if I'm not mistaken…"

I bid the man goodbye at the door to the elevator.

In the elevator, I studied my slightly worn out face. The combination of my bright red lipstick and dark eyeshadow made me look appealing.

This was the style of makeup that Tyler liked. But, this wasn't me.

In the club's courtyard, water from a fountain danced to the melody that was played.

I removed the ring from the middle finger on my right hand and threw it into the fountain.

That was the couple ring that I gave to Tyler in the fourth year that we were together. That night, he went at it real hard.

After we were done, he slipped the ring on his finger casually. It fit on his finger just nicely. After all, I measured it countless times while he was fast asleep.

I returned to my room. Even until noon the next day, there was no news on my cell phone at all.

On the surface, August Club looked like it was opened by me. But, in reality, Tyler was the biggest investor. In a way, it was considered to be the fruit of our joint labor.

It was also the only place that kept us connected.

I observed the decoration in the lobby, which was designed with much effort. Everything from the design framework to the choice of colors was decided upon after my repeated communication with the interior designer.

I picked up a stool from beside me and swung it hard at the table.

It was Sunday today. As the club was located in the suburbs, no one knew what was happening.

The loud bangs sounded like battle drums, awakening every aggressive cell in my body. Even the massive fish tank and expensive potted plants were smashed to smithereens.

Specks of filth splattered onto the paint, which hadn't completely dried.

I ended up smashing everything in the room that was visibly breakable.

Scanning the chaotic mess around me, I wiped the tears off my face, then packed up the few garments I bought for myself into my suitcase.

I placed Tyler's supplementary card from my bag onto my vanity table.

After all that, I got onto a plane to Southhope City—the city I had always been wanting to visit. Despite Tyler's repeated promises, he had never gone there with me.

Tyler's Point of ViewDuring these recent years in Burgton, I thought that I wouldn't think of her as long as I stayed away from her. But Jasmine's advertisements always appeared at malls when I least expected them. She was someone I could no longer meet. Yet, I saw her everywhere I went. Just like a phantom, she reminded me of the sins I once committed. In the advertisements, she looked even more stunning than before. The days of having makeup with bright red lipstick and excessive eyeshadow were far behind her. Instead, she would have a clean appearance and a pure look in her eyes in the advertisements. She did not need to be intentional in looking alluring in order to make me stop in my tracks. Clearly, this was the real her. Undoubtedly, I loved her like this too. One day, before I even realized it, I walked into a florist and picked up a bouquet of roses. As I stood in front of a display cupboard that had a poster of Jasmine on it, a young boy said to me in a coquet

After Matthias and I got married, we returned to Burgton City. I resumed my career as a model and even opened a modeling agency to help new models who dreamt of excelling in this industry. Occasionally, we would also be asked to star in some pretty notable advertisements. However, we would also receive rather significant amounts of investments that came from a personal bank account from time to time. I wasn't planning on returning that money either. Since they had transferred the money to me, I might as well keep it so that I could give the new models under my company a raise. Matthias often flew overseas to participate in art exhibitions. Because of his charming looks and the women in his portraits, he would often encounter reporters who probed about his relationship status at the end of interviews. At times like this, he would raise his hand with his ring in front of the cameras. Unable to hide the grin from his face, he would then say, "This is the ring that my wife

Tyler watched as Matthias and I left. Then, he got to his feet slowly, wiped the blood from his nose, and staggered out of the venue like a dog that had been abandoned by its owner. At the entrance to the hall, he noticed the photo of Matthias and I, which we had put up for our guests. My smile in the photo was exceptionally bright. He ran his finger across the photo of me, thinking about how long it had been since he last saw me smile like that. It seemed like the last time he saw me with a smile like that was when we were two to three years into our relationship. In our relationship, he was always on his high horse. The only times when he would yield, which only happened occasionally, were when we had our greatest fights. Even so, he would always have the upper hand. And that was only because I loved him.Tyler couldn't understand how I was able to stop loving him just like that. Everything was a blur to him as he drove himself to August Club. Before he came over to

I knew it. Tyler would never change. He was always high up on his pedestal, looking down on me. He was about to continue blabbering when Matthias rushed down from the stage and punched him in the face. This was my first time seeing Matthias out of control. Even when people on the internet commented that normal people couldn't comprehend his art, he would just smile and move on. He never got mad at others. This time, however, neither did he hold himself back nor did he maintain his gentlemanly outlook. "When will you ever learn to respect Jazzy? Let me say it again—she is not a possession of yours. Watch what you say with that mouth of yours. "The unluckiest thing that ever happened to Jazzy was meeting you." Because of how worn out he had been in recent days, Tyler did not stand a chance against Matthias. Matthias was crushing him single-handedly. Even when Tyler's face had swelled up from the beating, the security guards outside the venue were too afraid to come forwar

I held tightly onto Matthias' hand. "Just leave, Tyler. You said you want to send the video of me to Matthias? Go ahead." With his eyes fully reddened, Tyler growled, "Did you really think that I would send the video to someone else?" I looked toward him. "Weren't you the one who said that you would?" "That was because I had no other choice. What should I do for you to return to me?" Tyler was choking up by now."I am a married woman now." I picked Matthias' hand up. On his finger was the ring we had just exchanged earlier. It glistened under the light. "Did you think that he wouldn't actually mind that you were once with me for nine years?" Tyler started to run his mouth. "Who wouldn't want to marry a pure and innocent woman? If he truly loved you, why didn't he come back to look for you after being overseas for so many years? "Why did he happen to show up when you and I were having a fight? "How innocent do you think Matthias is? He and I are both men. Of cours

  • Healing A Broken Heart   Chapter 19

No matter how powerful Tyler might be in Burgton City, he had to put in quite a bit of effort to locate me within Southhope City. On the day of my wedding, I wore a white wedding dress and a princess tiara. Hand in hand with Matthias, we toasted with our guests. While I was chatting with the guests, I received a call from Tyler. I switched our call to a video call and pulled Matthias in front of the camera. "Apologies, Mr. Freeman. We're getting married right now. "You don't have to be here, but don't forget our wedding gifts." All color drained from Tyler's face immediately. His gaze traveled from my veil to my wedding gown. Finally, he looked at my hand, which was in Matthias' grip. The sizable diamond on my ring blinded him. "Jasmine, you can't marry him. If you do, I will send your video to Matthias—" "What video are you talking about?" "Do you remember my friend saying that he saw a video of you? It's right in my phone. You'd better not marry him. "Wait for me.
