I walked through the open gates and hurried out of the villa, as I went to stand on the sidewalk, waiting for a cab to drive through.

Finding a cab in this part of the city was hard. And it was much worse since it was evening.

I was in a hurry, and not a single cab had passed. I was panting fast, and then, it struck me. I remembered that I had driven my red car into the villa.

Recalling that, I slapped my forehead in disbelief and began to laugh at my own stupidity.

My heart was deeply pained and frustrated. My laughter suddenly turned into low shrieks, with tears streaming down my cheeks.

If only I had seen a cab right now, I wouldn't bother returning to the villa to get my car yet.

The pain in my stomach had grown worse, and I feared for my child.

So I began to wonder how I was going to return to the villa. I was stranded. With no other suitable choice as I was in a hurry, I slowly made my way back to the villa.

Each step I took, I winced, because each step made my situation

“Michael isn't single, Cassandra. Joanne has been abroad for three years and hasn't returned. And Michael is faithful to her and has been waiting for her to return to the city, so that he can get married to her. And I am certain you know that. But this idiot son of yours has been messing around despite being a married man”. Mr Rodriguez said. Mrs Cassandra glared at me after being scolded. I held my breath after feeling that my breathing was provoking her. Though she didn't reply to her husband. Was it because of Michael? Was it because he was mentioned? One thing I knew, as the second wife, Mrs Cassandra, had never dared to provoke Michael, as he was not a pushover like me.I really did win the medal of foolishness.“I- I am very sorry everyone. Because of me, you ended up quarreling with each other. I am really sorry. I shouldn't have come here”. Valentina apologized with red eyes. I didn't even notice when her eyes reddened and tears began to stream out of them. That was the pe

“Don't worry, Adira. As long as I am alive and the head of this family, you will always be my daughter-in-law and not someone else. Mark my words”. Mr Rodriguez firmly said to me. His words came out of nowhere. I did not expect him to say that. Did that mean the displeasure I was feeling within me showed on my face? If that was the case, that was not a good sign.It was supposed to be a peaceful dinner, but someone slammed their hands on the dining table and rose from their chair, and as a result of that, the plates, spoons, cups, knives and forks that were on the dining table bounced on the table and shifted from their original positions. The person responsible for that was Nathan. “Father, I have been meaning to tell you this, but since you brought it up yourself, then pardon me”. He declared, “I don't love Adira. You were the one who forced me to marry her when it was Valentina whom I ought to have gotten married to in the first place. You made me break up with Valentina, who wa

“Come and sit next to me, my dear daughter”. Father gestured to me, and I nodded at him and went and sat beside him on the sofa. Ignoring the existence of the two people who were with us in the living room, Father turned to me, who was sitting beside him. He held my hands with a warm smile on his face, which could melt a cold heart. “How is your father doing? It has been a long time since I last contacted him. His phone number is always busy. I don't know what an old man like him is busy with. I thought old men like myself tended to be less busy”. Father said with a chuckle. Yes, did I forget? My father and Nathan's father, Mr Rodriguez, have been best friends for ages. Although Mr Rodriguez was in a different league from us and was many times richer than my father, they were inseparable and stuck to each other like found treasures. This kind-hearted man sitting next to me… Don't get deceived, simply because he was smiling warmly at me. In his prime, when he established the Gle

The bright light that penetrated into the bedroom made me wake up from sleep. I felt much better. Also, I was surprised because of the bright light. Was this already the next day? I can't believe that I slept for hours and ended up time traveling to the next day. I left bed and prepared myself for work. A few minutes passed, and I was in the living room, sitting on one of the sofas and eating the sandwich I had made. I drank my medicine before grabbing my cell phone from the sofa I was sitting on. I initially wanted to check the time on my cell phone. But I did not expect that I would see some entertainment news that ended up hurting my feelings and ruining the morning for me. It was about Nathan and Valentina. Those paparazzis must have been the ones responsible for this trending news. Everyone was commenting that my husband and Valentina were perfect for each other and were going to make a great couple. I smiled, hiding my pain behind my masked smile. “They can say all the

Before I could process what was going on, I saw Nathan leaving with Valentina, with his hand holding tightly onto hers. When was the last time he ever held onto my hand like that? I remember. He has never really held onto my hand before, except during our wedding day. Our pitiful wedding day that only family members attended. I didn't forget how dull, lifeless and empty the hall looked. “My legs are weak, Natty. The doctor advised me to get enough rest. I don't think I can continue to walk”. Valentina said with a pitiful look on her face. Tears escaped from her innocent-looking eyes. I could tell right away that she was a pretentious bitch. She rested her head on Nathan's shoulder. My own husband's shoulder. I wanted to go out there and push her off my husband, but people would definitely think that I was crazy. After all, they had no idea that Nathan was my husband. With a bit of hope in my heart, I had expected Nathan to push Valentina off him, just like he had always don
