MasukMy stomach dropped instantly.
I felt like being punched into my stomach. Why was I here if he had a Luna?I wanted to laugh at myself, what was I thinking? of course, he had a Luna. He was not going to live with a wolfless girl like me, fate played a cruel game with us."Are you alright?"I blinked my eyes a couple of times, "Yes.""You sure?""Yes.""Ohkay..." she did not sound convinced.I lifted my lips upward giving her the smile that could fool anyone, "I am not really hungry right now. It was great meeting you, I will return to my room now.""Are you sure? I can take you to the kitchen if you want."I shook my head keeping the smile on my face.Taking two steps at once I tried to get back to the room as fast as I could. Closing the door behind me I instantly started taking deep breaths, what was happening here? Why was I in his house when there was no place for me in his life?
I kept my eyes closed as I sat on the floor near the bed, this was not supposed to happen. I was supposed to start my new life, I was finally ready to get away from the werewolf world....a world that was once mine. I shook my head, I was not going to cry....not for him. I survived being kidnapped, this was not going to break me.
I stared blankly at the phone in my hand, the questions swirled inside my head. If I told Eleanor about everything she would definitely find a way to get me out of here but was it right? I knew she would convince the king to talk to Alpha Orion but it could stir tension in the werewolf kingdom, it was something Eleanor and the King could not afford after everything that happened.
But what was I going to do here? Sit in the room and wait for alpha to get married.
I clutched the phone tightly between my fingers and hid it beneath the pillow.
A knock on the door startled me, I rushed to open the door but stopped as I reached near the door to take a few breaths. Once I was calm, I opened the door only to find beta Bernadette in front of me with the same wide smile.
"I hope you did not get bored."
She invited herself in.
"What were you doing?"
I lifted my shoulders up in response, "Nothing."
She silently observed me for a brief moment, she was now wearing boyfriend jeans with a SpongeBob Squarepants t-shirt and white sneakers.
"You don't talk much, do you?"
"I..uh..." I did not know what to say. The truth was, I had so many things running inside my head but I had no one to share this with. I was alone in a new pack, I was surrounded by people who were nothing alike me.
She let out a small loud laugh but paused immediately, "Did you eat something?"
I did not respond once again.
The Beta cursed loudly as she drifted out of the room leaving me confused. Was I supposed to follow her? My question got answered immediately when she returned with a plate of food in her hand. I glanced at the plate, it had everything on it from vegetables to a piece of steak and what appeared to be a brownie in the corner.
I suppressed a smile, it was a warm gesture from her side.
I accepted the plate with a smile, "Thank you."
There was a small silence as I started eating the food.
"I am so sorry, I thought I told someone to bring you food but I guess it skipped my mind. Orion would be pissed if he knew about it."
I froze once again. The small bite inside my mouth felt like a pebble I could not get rid of. Taking a sip of water, I wiped the corners of my mouth.
My hunger was dead.
"You okay?"
I nodded.
I put the plate that was still half filled with the food aside on the side table near the bed and started taking small sips of water to avoid talking.
Bernadette let out a sigh, "Look, I know this place is new for you, and you are probably not used to this life but it would be better if you accept this life now. You already know the rules, this is where you belong now."
I stared at her with a smile, "Why am I here?"
Her eyebrows got scrunched in confusion, she was not expecting this question or maybe she was not expecting me to say anything. She opened her mouth but closed it once again, "What do you mean? You are Orion's soulmate."
"He has a Luna."
The expression on Bernadette's face changed immediately, the corners of her lips turned slightly downward, and a frown formed on her forehead, "Who told you that?" Her voice was not filled with happiness anymore, she did not sound happy from my question. Maybe she was not expecting me to find out about this.
But why?
"Light and truth can never stay hidden even in the darkness."
Nothing changed, she stayed the same for a while, "You don't have to worry about Chelsea, Orion didn't know about you, he had no idea about your existence. We were sure he didn't have a soulmate. You know how much a pack needs their Luna, it doesn't matter now, you are here and you will be our Luna."
I did not say anything. I was Alpha's soulmate but I would never be their Luna, I wanted to scream the words but I smiled at her. She was not the person to be blamed.
"Look, make yourself comfortable here, your clothes are already in the closet. If you need anything tell me, or you can tell Orion."
"Thank you."
The ceremony was completed 3 nights ago, we accepted each other in front of the whole pack and the pack accepted us in return with happiness For the first time, I had everything I wanted and nothing to wish for. I managed to sneak away from everyone to meet Flora, she had become a part of my life and yet I knew nothing about her. My foot steps were not slow, I was not taking my time to look at the trees and flowers on the way. I was running towards the river to greet my old friend and tell her the good news about surviving the blood moon.I finally slowed down after reaching the river and scanned the area. My smile dropped instantly, for the first time, there was no sign of Flora anywhere. "Flora?" I called out her name, which was foolish but for some reason, I thought she was nearby and could hear my voice.I waited before walking further, "Flora?"No response, just the sound of running water and birds. I decided to take a brave step and go to the other side of the river. I suc
"We can't thank you and your coven enough, Celia." Orion repeated. Celia smiled in response, "You are a part of our family now."Between the sounds of knife, fork and spoon, a sharp sigh got mixed in the dining room. I looked at Ruth, who kept cutting a piece of meat on her plate, the pieces kept increasing, but nothing was being eaten by her. She did not like me, it was not a surprise, it was understandable. Maybe she was also not sure about a stranger entering their lives. But she was my sister. They had proved their loyalty to us and now it was my turn to take a step in their direction. "But I must say, Alpha, I am not entirely happy." Silence. Bernadette and Orion shared a look, the lack of expression on their faces made it hard to read what was going on inside their head. But I knew they were thinking, were there any mistakes from their end in the arrangements for our guests?"Did we do something to upset you?" Orion was being careful with his words. Celia was too exhaust
"This is not right." My gaze kept moving between my hand, where I was feeling the faint warmth and the sky. The moon appeared normal...just like any other night. I had been feeling something in the pit of my stomach, at first I was sure it was fear....but it was not fear. It was doubt. The preparations had been made, Celia and Ruth were waiting for me where they had been staying. "Should I trust them?" The question had been bugging me ever since I returned from the forest. How could I trust anyone? I had learned from a very young age not to lower my walls for anyone...but these people were my family...my blood.Shaking my head, I put on a smile I had perfected over the years. The dagger sitting inside my jacket provided some comfort, if they did anything, I would be ready to protect my pack. ..."My dear, we have been waiting for you," Celia grabbed my hand and dragged me to stand inside a circle. Ruth did not bother to glance in my direction and continued feeding something to
The blood moon was almost above our heads. I could feel something in my body, the fear of losing people, the disappointment of letting others down, the confusion of my new identity."And that is why my dear you should always be careful with pronouncing your spells," Celia continued as she added some dry herbs into the cauldron. I smiled with a nod. She had been trying to teach me as much as she could, which meant she did not stop talking about the spells, coven, and moon. But the truth was I could not focus entirely on her words, so much was going on inside my head...I did not know if I should trust her. The boiling sound kept coming along with laughter of Celia as she told the story about 'my mother'."Dear, did you notice any signs of magic yet?" I shook my head, "Nothing so far."I knew Orion did not mention the change in eye color to anyone and I had promised Flora not to utter a word about what happened. She smiled, "It's completely fine, you might be a later bloomer."I just
I froze as soon as I entered the house. "What...?"Orion stood next to me, "We need to talk to you about something."My heartbeat increased, did something bad happen? Celia was sitting with no smile on her face, next to her was Ruth with a similar expression accompanied by Oliver and Rose. "Is everything alright?" I asked Orion, "Is it about the red moon?"He shook his head, "No, everything is fine, love, just calm down and have a seat."Bernadette gave a sharp nod to Orion, "I will be outside." She was in her beta mode, something was not right.Did they know about what happened near the river? I gulped thinking about it but tried not to show the fear on my face as I sat down in front of the witches. Orion was holding my hand the entire time while his other hand was on my back rubbing circles. "The resemblance..." Celia shed a tear which she wiped quickly."What is happening here?" The silence was making me feel suffocated. "It's best if Celia starts from the beginning," Orion g
My feet kept moving, I knew where I had to stop. Orion and I were in the middle of our conversation when he said he figured something out but he had to leave before he could explain anything. We were not getting much time to talk or discuss anything, the red moon was above our heads and even though no one was showing it, we were all scared. I was breathing hard from taking two steps at once and my heart was racing but no matter how much I tried I could not shake the feeling away. A smile made its way to my lips when I saw the girl's long brown hair touching the ground as she sat on the edge of the river. "Flora.""You are late, Ruhee."I paused, her words had no emotions."Are you alright, Flora?" I sat down next to her to take a look at her face. Her skin looked pale as she stared into the distance. I followed her eyes she was staring at the other side of the forest. Everything about her was the same except there was no glow on her face, her eyes had lost their spark. I felt
