Chapter 3

I lay in the hospital as the healer repeatedly questioned me.

In the end, I decided to keep the pup in my belly. I couldn't bring myself to be a cruel mother even though I'd been reborned. I simply made up my mind to take my unborn pup and leave Adrian.

Just then, I received a call from him.

"Don't take Flora's Twitter posts to heart. I'm taking her to see the meteor shower, so I'll be home late tonight."

Before I could say anything, he hung up, giving me no chance to object.

After that, Flora's messages kept coming non-stop all night long.

"Today's the Moon Goddess Festival. So many couples have planned to watch the meteor shower together. It's a shame you have no one to keep you company.

"Adrian doesn't love you at all. Otherwise, why would he choose me over you today and for the trip?

"Even if he marks you, so what? I'll always be the most important person in his heart. He only wants you as his mate out of responsibility for the pup in your belly.

"Adrian says that in every house you have in the future, there'll be a bedroom specially reserved for me. That's my status in his heart!"

I paid no attention to Flora's provocations. I even found them amusing.

That night, Adrian and Flora didn't return, and I didn't care where they had gone either.

Early the next morning, Adrian sent a message saying that they had already left for the northern hemisphere and told me to follow them later on.

Even though I tried not to care, it still hurt. My wolf constantly cursed Adrian, and I couldn't calm her down.

The so-called northern lights weren't exclusive to the northern hemisphere. I canceled my ticket and changed it to a first-class ticket to the southern hemisphere instead.

While I was there, I unexpectedly ran into someone I hadn't anticipated meeting.

Flora continuously sent me messages throughout the trip, sharing everything they did. I rarely replied, and I just saved the pictures as evidence for when I would cancel the ceremony.

But that was up until Flora sent me a video of Adrian confessing his love to her under the northern lights.

"Flora, rest assured, I'm marking Sophia purely out of responsibility. Even if I mark her, I'll still put you first."

Flora told me that Adrian's true love was her. It was just that she didn't want to be constrained by marriage, which was why she had always rejected him.

It was also precisely because of this rejection that the devastated Adrian had chosen to be with me instead. Flora even revealed that my pregnancy was actually Adrian's deliberate plan!

Everything made sense now.

High-born bloodline was everything in the entire Southern wolf pack. Only today did I understand that Adrian never loved me. He only loved my bloodline. After all, he was just a werewolf of ordinary bloodline.

At that time, I thought that it was our mutual love that moved the Moon Goddess, who blessed us with this precious pup. I had even thanked the Moon Goddess thousands of times in my heart.

That was until the medical report was coldly thrown in front of me.

Apparently, the barrier had been deliberately damaged, the internal suppressant had failed, and the marking had been illegally activated.

Adrian was the one who did it, and all because of Flora's casual joke too. "If the pup has some high-born bloodline, it should look better, right?"

That was why he'd used methods that would ruin my life to get me pregnant.

I blocked both Adrian and Flora without hesitation. Before doing so, I simply left Flora one final cold message.

"If you like that worthless scumbag so much, take him. I find him revolting."

This time, I didn't waver and rescheduled the abortion.

This pup shouldn't have existed in the first place. No matter how reluctant I was, I couldn't let my child have such a shameless father!

My wolf howled within me as I inhaled the anesthetic, and a single tear streamed down from the corner of my eye.
