Chapter 4

On the day Adrian and I had agreed to discuss the marking ceremony, even the Alpha of Conner pack had shown up.

Conner pack's Alpha, Robert Conner, was the only person who knew my true identity.

Unexpectedly, Adrian rose sharply and confronted me as soon as I saw him.

"Why do you keep bullying Flora? What exactly did you say to her? She's been crying for days! Apologize to her right now in front of everyone!"

I inwardly mocked Adrian's stupidity for making his fiancée apologize to another woman in front of so many pack elders.

Upon seeing that I remained unmoved, he grabbed my shoulders. Then, he leaned close to my ear and threatened in a low voice, "If you don't apologize to Flora, I will cancel the marking ceremony!

"What do you think people will say when you give birth to a pup out of wedlock? Who else would want you when you're pregnant?"

Adrian was incredibly stupid. He hadn't even noticed that my once slightly swollen belly was now flat.

I smiled at him and said, "Adrian, I won't cancel the marking ceremony, but I can change who marks me!"

Adrian's pupils constricted, but it was Alpha Robert who had the strongest reaction. He slapped Adrian across the face and scolded him, "You fool! Apologize to Sophia immediately!"

Adrian always assumed that I came from a small pack. What he didn't know was that I was the daughter of the Alpha King, and that the Conner pack's strength was beneath that of my family's Ulfrheim pack.

I had fallen in love with him at first sight before and had hidden my identity to be with him for the sake of love. It was Conner pack's current Alpha who recognized my identity and only promoted Adrian out of respect for me. After that, Adrian gradually began to look down on my status.

In reality, whoever I married would be the one to inherit Conner pack.

Just then, Adrian's parents broke their silence and immediately stood up to assure me, saying, "This is all our fault. We failed to discipline him properly. Please give Adrian another chance. I'll make sure he cuts off all contact with that other woman immediately!"

What Alpha Robert had just said appeared to be a scolding of Adrian on the surface, but it was actually a thinly veiled attempt to persuade me to continue my relationship with him.

In the end, they only valued the benefits my status could bring to their pack. I knew that even if I didn't agree to it then, they would just continuously force Adrian to beg for my forgiveness.

"Forget it. My fate with Adrian has run its course," I spat.

Alpha Robert pleaded, "Please don't give up on the marriage alliance with Conner pack."

"Who said I was giving anything up?" I raised an eyebrow and said, "I've already chosen my new fiancé within Conner pack."

"A new fiancé? How funny. You've been ruined by me! If they found out you're carrying my pup, I'd sure like to see who'd still want you!" Adrian sneered.

Suddenly, the door opened, and a tall, muscular man walked in. His powerful air instantly swept through the room.

The man behind me was Adrian's half-brother, Blaise Conner. He and Adrian shared the same father but had different mothers.

Blaise wrapped his arm around my waist in a protective gesture. "Adrian, show some respect to your sister-in-law."
