(Ashely's POV)
My mom closed the door behind her as she walked further into the room. I sat on the edge of my bed waiting for her to get on with it but she just stood there awkwardly looking around.
"Look, mom, I'm really tired," I said as she sighed, "I know, but I want to make things right between us," she said before taking a seat beside me, "This morning, I was wrong for hitting you and I regret it so much, but I wish you'd be nicer to Roger as it will make me happy," she said as I stared back at her in disbelief before shifting away from her and before I could speak, she continued.
"And I know, I was being selfish, I am being selfish and I know I should've come and discussed this with you and hear your concerns and opinion before I made this big decision, but I didn't and I regret it so much because you're suffering and I promised your father that I would take care of you in the best way I could," She said as we both began to tear up.
That night, Ashely sat in her room debating whether or not she should go check on Jake. It wasn't that she petty him and she surely didn't want to make a fool of herself, but she knew how he felt. The longing for that fatherly love and care, Ashely knew exactly how Jake felt. "Come on, Ash, you can do it," she said trying to boost her confidence before heading over to Jake's room that was right opposite hers. Ashely stood in front of Jake's bedroom door before taking a deep breath, but as she did so, she smelt smoke and to be precise, cigarette smoke. She furrowed before sniffing the air to confirm that the scent was right before knocking on the door, "Jake, are you in there?" she called out but there was no reply, "well, here goes nothing," she mumbled before opening the door, which was surprisingly open. As she entered, Ashely quickly fanned away the smoke that filled the room, "Jake, open a goddamn window for Christ's sake," she said walking over to
Ashley entered her room annoyed, "What the hell is wrong with Anna?" She questioned herself as she searched through her closest looking for something to wear as Jay was heading over to pick her up."Hey, you still haven't answered my question," Jake unexpectedly asked, startling Ashley, who quickly turned around, "When the hell did you get in here?"
Ashley arrived home after her little date with Jay. Today seemed a bit off and Ashley couldn’t seem to brush it off. Before she had exited Jay’s car, she asked him if he was free to have one of those late-night calls they used to have but he quickly said that he was busy tonight, but the way he said it made Ashley a bit suspicious but she left it alone and exited the car.
“Can you take me to the river?” She softly asked while looking into his eyes as they softened. “Sure, come on,” he said taking her hand before leading her to his car. The party was clearly over now as people began to flee. Anna ran outside as fast as she can to catch up with Ashley but it was too late.
Both Ashley and Jake pulled away from the kiss as they were running out of air. Staring into each other’s eyes as they pant, Jake suddenly smirked as Ashley raised one of her eyebrows. “You're a good kisser, Lil sis,” he said, before being slapped across the face with cold water. Ashley’s face turned sour after Jake’s remark causing him to chuckle before swimming back to the deck. “Come on, you’re shaking like a leaf, we should really head home,” he said, pulling himself out the water before helping her out.
"Ashley, Anna is here," her mom said as both Ashley and Jake looked at each other. Ashley's blood began to boil at the name of the girl, who betrayed her. Ashley really didn't want to see Anna's face right now, and the fact that her mom still allowed her in here, after Jake told her something happened between them really pisses her off."MOM, I-Before Ashley could finish her sentence, the knob on her door turned before opening revealing Anna, who looked 10 times as horrible as Ashley. Jake's eyes couldn't help but widen in amazement as he scanned her appearance. She looked like she cried the entire night, plus the hangover was already beginning to take an effect on her.The room was filled with silence, rather awkward silence as Anna stood there staring at anything but Ashley'd deadly glares. She was nervous, terrified, and depressed. All she wants is forgiveness, but judging by the death glare she was getting, forgiveness was the last thing on Ashl
Jake woke up with Ashley in his arms. His heart softened at the sight of Ashley in his arms, it felt almost natural as if she belonged in his arms. But then his face dropped as she snuggled into his chest. This is what he didn't want, for her to get too comfortable with him. He'd be damned if he hurt Ashley and although he wasn't good for her, he still found himself allowing her in. Ashley shifted herself out of Jake's arms as he slowly sat up. He ran his hands down his face before carefully lifting himself off the bed. As he was about to leave, something on Ashley's nightstand catch his attention. It was a picture frame of her and her father when she younger than now. She looked really happy in the photo and that brought a smile to Jake's face. He examined the photo not knowing that Ashley was wide awake, following his every move. "That was taken on my birthday," Ashley said startling Jake, who quickly turned around, "I'm sorry, it just caught my eyes,"
Everything happened so fast, all Ashley felt was a rush of cold air against her body as Jake threw the first blow causing Jay to stumble back. The diner went silent as Ashley stood there in shock. She looked at Jake, who stood there breathing heavily with his fists clenched at the side of him. She turned her head towards Jay, who didn't expect a thing as he gently touched his bruised bottom lip. Ashley immediately stood between the two men just in case anything happened.
