Julian’s POV.

The moment I stepped into my office, I shut the door harder than necessary. My jaw tightened as I dropped my clipboard onto the desk and ran a frustrated hand through my hair.

Clarence’s words echoed in my mind, unsettling me in a way, I didn’t want to admit.

"I trusted my husband. He won’t harm me."

Who did that? Who blindly swallowed whatever was handed to them without a second thought? It was reckless. Stupid. Clarence wasn’t someone who acted carelessly, like a sheep being led to slaughter. She was cautious, she had a voice, and she would never indulge in something that wasn’t verified.

And yet, despite my frustration, I couldn’t understand what had made her blindly trust her husband enough to take a substance she knew nothing about.

The more I thought about it, the angrier I became, and yet I couldn’t calm my temper. But it wasn’t because she used to be the most important person in my life—those days were long gone. No, it was because I was a doctor,

Even after everything, I still had to smile, still had to keep my head high like nothing had touched me. But it had. Every little thing had touched me, and now I just wanted to get home, take off my shoes, and breathe. Julian glanced at me as he parked in front of my building. He didn’t say anything right away, just kept looking like he was about to speak but wasn’t sure how. “I don’t know,” he finally said, running a hand through his hair. “I feel like I shouldn’t leave. Maybe I should come up with you. Just for a while.” I gave him a small smile. It was kind of him to offer, but I didn’t want anyone around. Not tonight. I needed space. “I’ll be okay, Julian. You worry too much,” I said, trying to sound light about it. “Nothing’s going to happen. I’m just going to sleep.” He didn’t look convinced. His eyes lingered on mine for a secon

Clara’s POV.After meeting with Damon, I had convinced him that we needed to take further steps to stop Clarence from going to court and he had agreed to my plans although I didn’t tell him what I had in mind, so I reached out to Stone and he asked we meet at one of the warehouses where he hung out with his gang. Damon drove me there and we stopped right outside the warehouse. The first time I said it out loud, I almost didn’t recognize my own voice.“She’s in the way. She always has been and we have to do anything we can to stop her now even if it means silencing her forever.”Damon sat beside me without replying, his jaw clenched and his arms folded like he was already regretting showing up. I was about to question him when the door opened and Stone joined us in the car.He sat at the back seat with me dressed in plain black while Damon was in the driver’s seat.“She won’t back off, Damon,” I said, keeping my voice steady even though I could feel my pulse in my neck.“I got a whiff

Clarence’s POV.Two days had passed since the scandal was finally cleared, and the news was officially declared false. Still, I couldn’t shake the weight that pressed down on me like a thick fog refusing to lift. It was strange, the relief that should have come with the clearing of my name was mixed with an anxious anticipation, a nagging feeling that this battle was far from over. That morning, I left early and headed to my family home. I had arranged to meet with one of my relatives, Sir John, one of the few who was on my side, he was someone I trusted because of how good and supportive he was to me, along with an engineer. I needed them both for a reason that was more urgent than ever. Since Clara and Damon had made such a move to get me into trouble, I didn’t need to sit quietly anymore. I had to see my mother’s company and start making the move to restart it. I wanted to understand how bad the damage was and figure out how I could bring it back to life. As we drove up to the

Clarence’s POV.My phone lit up early the next morning, buzzing insistently on my bedside table. I blinked awake, still foggy from sleep, and saw a message from Olivia. She had forwarded a screenshot of an online news article. My heart dropped the moment I saw the headline—something about a scandal involving me and someone unnamed but hinted to be a colleague and I didn’t need to think twice to know it was Julian although his information and face weren’t exposed. The tone was venomous, the kind of gossip that spreads fast and stains reputations.I sat up straight in bed, my pulse racing. This was worse than I thought. I had hoped the rumors that had been going on in the company with the staff suspecting us but I never knew it wouldn’t escalate to being publicized in the media, but here they were, front and center for anyone to see. And with investors watching every move the company made, this could spiral into a disaster.I pressed my fingers against my forehead, trying to steady my t

Julian’s POV.I wasn’t expecting the call so late in the afternoon. My phone buzzed insistently on the desk, and when I picked it up, my investigator’s tense voice filled the line. “Sir, Kristina’s gone. She escaped.”For a moment, I just stared, unable to process the words fully. Gone? Escaped? She was supposed to be under her parents’ watch. We had kept her on track for weeks, watched every move, and with how chill she had been, I knew had it in mind she would make sure a move.“The trail’s cold. Her parents have involved the police. She’s officially wanted now,” he added. His voice was tight as if the news had caught him off guard too.I sank back into my chair, the weight of it all pressing down hard. Kristina’s disappearance wasn’t just a problem for her or her family anymore. It meant trouble for Clarence, I knew she would be her first target, she would never rest until she had managed to make Clarence disappear and it scared the hell out of me.I knew how complicated things we
