~Rowan's pov~

I walk inside and didn't find mom anywhere. I met Miriam come out of the kitchen. "Miriam." 

"Good day, sire. I want to talk to you about mrs Adam." 

"Go on." 

"Mrs Adam has refused to take her meal since morning. She had herself locked up in her room and had told me never to disturb her again." 

I ran upstairs to her door and knocked loudly at her door. I heard a sob and began knocking and pushing the door. "Mom, open the door, please." I begged.

"Mrs Adam, wait. I have the spare key" Miriam said behind. I turned and quickly snatched the keys from her. I inserted the key and pushed the door open. What I saw in the room left my mouth hanging open. Her room has been kept upside down, her mirror, the pillows torn into pieces made my heart beat increased thinking she must had hurt herself.

"Mom." I yelled and ran to the bed, I pulled off the bed cover and helped her sit up as she rested her head on my chest. "Mom, what's wrong?. Why are you crying?" I asked checking her up for bruises. 

"Leave me alone." She cried. 

"Why?. What have I done?" I asked.

"Leave me. No one wants me to have a grand child. Leave me." 

"What are you saying?. You have Aubrey. She's ever ready to marry me if you talk to her" 

She broke into a wail and pushed me away. "Mom. You're acting strange. What are you doing?" I yelled. She ignored me and wailed on. 

"Okay. Fine. What happened?. I'm sorry for yelling, please." 

She turned and looked at me. "Aubrey has refused to marry you"

"What?"

"Reasons that you acted rude towards her without apologizing." She started crying again. 

"What?. Do you mean she said that?"I asked, surprised. 

"I want you to marry Aubrey. I want Aubrey."

" But she refused. " 

"She's the one i want. I don't want any other girl. I want Aubrey" She whimpered. I ran my hands over my hair and sighed.

"What do you do?. " Zack asked as well we waited patiently for Zoe to serve the meal. "I have no choice than to look for Aubrey" 

"Mrs Adam is really a drama queen. She's really an actress." Zack laughed. 

"She was an actress. Don't you remember?" Zoe asked coming into the discussion. She made Kyle sit opposite her and started dishing out food for us. "But, uhm..she's right. Rowan, you have to give the old woman a grand child, and you're not getting younger either." 

"Keep your advice to yourself." I said and started eating.

~Aubrey's pov~

"Mom. Leave me alone. If it's important to him, he'd be standing all day in my door."

"A rich man doesn't beg Aub. This is important to us, you know" 

As I made to leave, she dragged me back and grabbed my clothe. " Mom, you will tear my shirt." 

"Then you buy another one." I scoffed. "You and i knows that the only money brought to this house barely made out to the next day, leave my clothe alone." I shouted. Proven stubborn, we started dragging my clothe until she finally tired out the hem. She looked at me and sighed as I glared at her.

A cleared throat made me turn behind to see the owner of the voice. Isla stands with her mouth open and moved behind to reveal Rowan Adam.

I looked at mom who was already smiling at the young man, and didn't say a word to him. "Let's go, Isla." I dragged her hand and we started leaving. "Aubrey, come back here."

"I'm late for work " I shouted and put on my helmet. "Rey. Your fiance is here." Isla whispers. I ignored her and rode off.

I knocked lightly at Mrs. Maria's door. A young girl opens the door. "Hey, I'm here to see…" 

I paused seeing Mrs Maria with a mug, standing behind. "Good morning, Mrs Marie."

"I'm afraid to tell you, Aubrey. Your service is no longer needed." 

"What?. You can't.." They shut the door in my face. "You can't do this Mrs Marie. I'm sorry, please" I shouted and continued hitting on the door. "Leave my door before I unleash my dogs on you, Aubrey." She shouted from inside. 

I turned around and left.

I drove home and packed my ride beside my dad's old car. I walk to my door and opened it. I saw mom on the cushion discussing with Rowan. I have no idea what he was doing here. 

"You're back?. So soon" Mom says with a glint of happiness in her eyes. "Yeah. I'm back." Note the sarcasm.

"What happened?." She asked, nonchantly. "I was fired again, mom. All thanks to you and you." I pointed at each one of them and she gasped. I walked into my room and fell flat on my bed. 

My life has become a living hell since i met Rowan. He has made everything i ever worked collasp right under my nose. It has become from one problem to another with my mom. We almost quarrel everyday, ate once in a day, at times we don't play games anymore. A knock was heard at my door and i turned towards it. "Don't come in." I grumpled out. 

The door creaked open and mom pops in her head. "I can come in?" 

I rolled my eyes. "I said don't" She steps in and closes it behind. She walked up to the bed and sits. 

"I'm sorry Aubrey." I raised my head, surprised. "Of what?"

"I'm sorry that I'm making this hard for you," I smiled. "And it doesn't mean I'm not letting you marry him" She added. I groaned and laid back down. 

"When your dad left, i promised to give you the best of life." 

"And is this your way of giving me the best of life." 

She chuckled. "It is. Rowan Adam is the richest man in Chicago. Isn't it?. "

"Getting married to the man I despise so much isn't the best of life." I told her. 

"Aubrey. Enough of this, if you ever love me, come out dressed for a lunch with him, if you don't...just disown me as your mother." She got up.

"Really?. Are we doing this now?" She ignored me, opened the door and leaves. 

Mom, you won't win this..
