Meanwhile, at the Hilton Western Restaurant.

Tessa had been waiting for half an hour when Gabriel finally appeared.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Dressed in a silver-gray suit with light white stripes and a black shirt underneath, Gabriel walked in, his perfect features and slight smile exuding an irresistible charm, causing Tessa to momentarily lose her composure, her heart racing like a startled deer.

She had seen Gabriel on TV before, but in person, his tall, lean frame, broad shoulders, and narrow waist gave off an aura of noble elegance mixed with a forbidding coldness.

She tried to calm her pounding heart, stood up, and nodded politely. "Mr. Robinson, you're right on time. I was just early."

Gabriel sat across from her, glanced at her briefly, and then looked away. "What would you like to eat?"

Today, she wore light makeup, accessorized with limited-edition Gucci diamond earrings and a necklace, and a new Dior dress. Though she looked stunning, this kind of "money-wrapped" beauty failed to impress him.

"Whatever you prefer, Mr. Robinson. I'm fine with anything."

"Alright." Gabriel pressed the call button on the table, and a waiter promptly entered the private room. He ordered the restaurant's most expensive two-person meal and a bottle of red wine.

"So, being the heiress of the Flynn Group, what were you doing out in the countryside that day?"

Gabriel leaned back in the booth, legs crossed, his sharp eyes fixed on her as he asked.

After returning to his company, he had done some research on Tessa and knew her background.

Tessa’s heart clenched, and she nervously tightened her grip on her hands, forcing a bitter smile. "To be honest, working as a delivery person was my dad's way of testing me. He wanted to see if I could handle hardship before deciding whether to let me take over the company."

These words were already deeply ingrained in her mind.

When Gabriel asked to meet her a week later, she had informed her parents about it. They had anticipated Gabriel's questions.

So, they had someone review the surveillance footage of Fiona's route to the hospital with Gabriel, uncovering the incident location and what Fiona was doing.

To avoid arousing Gabriel's suspicion, Tessa genuinely delivered takeout for a whole week—and it's impossible to say how many indignities she suffered in that time.

"Your father had the right idea. A little hardship is good for building character."

Gabriel agreed with Flynn Darwin’s approach.

"Yes, I think my dad's method is great too."

"Give me your account details. Tomorrow, I'll have the finance department transfer you ten million dollars."

"What?" she didn't understand why he suddenly mentioned money.

"You risked your life to save me that day. This money is your reward."

"No... there's no need."

While ten million dollars was certainly tempting, Tessa’s true interest lay in Gabriel.

She shook her head and smiled gently. "Even if it had been someone else in danger that day, I would have saved them. In such a situation, anyone would have done the same."

"If you don't want the money, you can have your father contact me directly. I'll give priority to Flynn Group in our company projects."

The Flynn Group was her family company. A sweet smile lit up her pretty, subtly made-up face. "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Robinson, but there's really no need."

As soon as she finished speaking, Gabriel's phone rang abruptly.

"Excuse me, I need to take this call."

Gabriel picked up his phone and saw that it was his assistant, Sutton, calling. "What's up?"

"Boss, I regret to report that I failed to complete the task you assigned. Miss Hayes has been taken back to the old mansion by Mrs. Robinson." Sutton relayed the situation to Gabriel in full detail.

"Why did Grandma suddenly go there?"

“I'm not sure either."

Sutton was equally puzzled about how Mrs. Robinson got the information so quickly.

Thinking about it, he quickly added, "But from what Mrs. Robinson said, it seems she wants you to marry Miss Hayes."

Upon hearing this, Gabriel's brows furrowed tightly, and he replied in a cold voice, "Wishful thinking."

He hung up the phone and stared at the screen, lost in thought.

When he looked up at Tessa, an idea suddenly popped into his mind, and he asked, "Miss Darwin, I wonder if you could do me a favor."

"Of course, Mr. Robinson. Feel free to ask," Tessa replied, her smile unwavering.

"Can you pretend to be my girlfriend?”

The two of them walked down the mountain for a while. At a particularly steep spot, the masked man slipped and fell to the ground with a yelp."Careful!" Fiona exclaimed as he lay dangerously close to the edge of the steep slope. Falling might not kill him, but it would definitely cause serious injuries. She lunged forward, grabbing his leg. "Don't be scared, I've got you," she reassured him.She pulled with all her might, dragging the masked man toward her. Despite his slender appearance, he was surprisingly heavy. In the heat of the moment, she didn't think much of it. She managed to drag him back a few steps before sitting beside him and supporting his neck. "Come on, get up."His legs were weak, making it hard for him to stand. Fiona had to support his upper body to help him get back on his feet."Thanks," the masked man said, taking the opportunity to wrap an arm around her neck. She struggled to lift him. "You look thin, but you're actually pretty heavy," she remarked, concentra

Clarissa stomped her foot in frustration. Just as her anger peaked, she saw Gabriel walking toward Fiona. Her eyes lit up, and her mood instantly changed.Gabriel wore a black casual outfit and a black sports headband on his forehead, giving him a youthful, sporty look, much like a basketball player. It was quite appealing. But Fiona knew he wore the headband to keep sweat from dripping into his eyes while working, since they had been busy carrying things up and down the hill and didn't have a free hand to wipe the sweat away. "Here, this is for you," he said as he approached Fiona, opening his hand to reveal what he had brought."What is it?" she asked, looking at his open palm. There, resting in his hand, were bright red raspberries, a sweet and tangy fruit that grew in the countryside. They were delicious. “Where did you get these? I love raspberries!" she exclaimed, delighted. She took them from his hand and popped a few into her mouth. "This is exactly the taste I remember—swe

  • Her Billionaire Husband   CHAPTER 100

Gabriel paid no attention to Fiona, finding her words full of voids. Especially considering the last time she was kidnapped, it had direct ties to the Darwin Family. He hadn't been interested in digging into it back then, but now... now he wanted to know. After a while, Fiona grew bored of sitting around and returned to the village chief's house, lying down to rest. Clarissa was already asleep, her face adorned with a smile, likely due to some pleasant dream.Fiona lay in bed for what felt like ages before she finally drifted off to sleep. The next morning, she was awakened by Clarissa's chatter."What were you doing with Gabriel last night? I waited for you at home for so long, and you never came back."Clarissa sat cross-legged on the bed, her hands propping up her chin, staring at Fiona with the curiosity of a child, eager for answers."Watching the moon," Fiona mumbled with her eyes still closed."What? You watched the moon with Gabriel?" Clarissa couldn't help but exclaim, feeli

Clarissa was bursting with excitement but didn't know how to express it."Oh my gosh, Gabriel, look! A shooting star! Quick, make a wish! They say wishes made on shooting stars are the most likely to come true."Seeing a shooting star streak across the dazzling night sky, Clarissa jumped with joy. She clasped her hands, bowed her head, and closed her eyes to make a wish.“Shooting star, shooting star, please make my wish come true. Let me become Gabriel's wife someday!”Standing nearby, Gabriel watched Clarissa. For a moment, he found her lively and innocent, like Fiona. She seemed so pure and carefree, not at all annoying."Where is she? Why hasn't she come out yet?"He waited a while, scanning for Fiona, then asked."Huh? Oh, um... wait here, I'll go get her." Clarissa felt incredibly lucky to have spent even a moment with Gabriel. She was happy but also so nervous she didn't know what to say.So she quickly turned and ran off.She jogged to the room, pushed the door open, and found

Fiona was only interested in the cash Clarissa offered; her 'superpower' could make her submit instantly. “Haha, Fiona, you are just too good."She tilted her head and made a heart gesture toward Fiona.Fiona found her behavior disgusting, goosebumps rising all over her skin.Putting on her shoes, she walked out of the bedroom, flashlight in hand, and headed next door. She pushed the door open and went straight to Gabriel's bedroom, knocking. “Gabriel?"Since Eastgrove Village had always had a harmonious, friendly relationship among its residents, and with many outsiders coming in, the doors were left unlocked for convenience. Fiona could come and go freely.A soft call, but no response. She waited a moment and was about to call out to him again when the bedroom door creaked open.In the darkness, Gabriel stood before her, his voice cold. "What is it?"His tone was icy, carrying a hint of distance. It seemed he was still upset about what had happened earlier.Fiona thought he must h

  • Her Billionaire Husband   CHAPTER 97

Given the circumstances, Fiona had nothing more to say. After all, this wasn't the city where one could be picky about everything. She took a towel and some body wash from her suitcase, grabbed a flashlight, and headed straight to the pond by the door. Sitting on a washing stone, she let her legs dangle in the cool water, splashing around playfully. The sound of frogs croaking mixed with the chirping of crickets filled the air, creating a peaceful atmosphere.Suddenly, tiny green lights began to float in the darkness. Fiona stared at the glowing fireflies, lost in thought. She used to see fireflies often as a child, but they had become rare as she grew older. She was pleasantly surprised to find so many here.Soon she jumped into the pond. With no one around in the dead of night, she could enjoy a relaxing swim and take a bath. The pond was deep, with a bed of smooth pebbles. The water was crystal clear, fed by a mountain spring. After swimming for a while, she bathed and then sat o
