Chapter 9

Entering the room James and Amanda began studying.

"Why do you always leave your exam answer sheet blank," Amanda asked, going through his school papers.

"No reason, just feel like doing it," was the only answer James could provide.

"It's not good to leave your answer sheet blank, your grades are going to be low," Amanda explained, looking in James' direction.

"I don't want high grades," James said looking down.

"Why don't you want high grades?" Amanda asked, maintaining eye contact with James.

"No one will praise me when I have like other kids, so why should I have it," he explained.

"You don't have to worry about that, when you make good grades this time around, I'm going to buy you a present," Amanda replied with a smile.

"Really, " James asked feeling skeptical about it

"Yes, I will even show you my secret to winning video games," Amanda giggled.

"Hope you won't go back on your word," James asked, making eye contact with Amanda.

" I won't, I promise," Amanda said.
