Chapter Eleven

"I forgot to tell you that we don't have to go to work for a week," my brow furrowed.

"What do you mean? Is that all right?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"I'm the Boss, Laura. I can do whatever I want," he said trying to be arrogantly, I just laugh at his face.

"OK, Sir," I said quietly as I stared at him, but Eugene just laughed and finished his coffee.

"And there's an agency that can help us with the babysitter," he said, which surprised me.

When did he do that, exactly?

"That's really quick, but please make sure they can be trusted."

"That's why we've taken a week off work. The two helpers will arrive later at lunch, we'll monitor them for a week, and if they're good, we'll be more reassured." "He explained to me in a serious tone, assuring me that he will not 'just choose the person' and that children's lives would be put at risk."

But I couldn't help but worry. I've read a lot about how bad things can happen when a child is left with someone else. My heart skipped a beat when I felt Eugene's hand on my right hand.

"Don't worry too much...I don't want you to do everything...you're the one who looks after the twins and also looks after me...I don't want you to get any more tired than you already are," he said sadly.

"Don't be dramatic, Eugene. I know you're just worried that the twins will take all of my attention and I won't be able to care for you," I sarcastically told him. He doesn't have to feel bad if I get tired because I'm happy with what I'm doing.

"Of course, tsk, but really, we need helpers so you don't get too tired, okay?" I simply nodded to avoid his puppy eyes. That kind of look from him softened my knee, which is risky.

"Keep your face away from me, you're getting closer and closer, it's annoying," I said, trying to hide my reddish face from him.

I was shocked when he hit my arms playfully; it didn't hurt, but it was so childish of him.

"You're just trying to hide the fact that you want to look at my handsome face, no? you really want to stare at my face closely...don't worry, it's okay if you have a crush on me," he said, becoming more and more shamefull.

Although what he said was correct, I kept my cool and played as if nothing had happened. I crossed my arms and raised my brow at him.

"I thought you were awake now? Why are you still dreaming about me crushing on you?" I said with my very poker face.

He just sat there staring at me, not saying anything.

"what? can't go on? you're shy now?" I ask, but I gasp when he suddenly gets close to my face.

I quickly pushed his face when I felt I couldn't breathe any longer.

"You're acting so childish now, Eugene—pfft hahaha!" I exclaimed as he tickled my waist.

"Shh... the kids will wake up," he teased me while still tickling me.

I would have beaten him if the twins hadn't woken up. While Eugene returned to the room to calm the two, I put away what we had eaten.

When I could no longer hear the twins whimpering, I smiled and continued cleaning the kitchen; He's getting better at putting the boys to sleep.

~

"He's sleeping again," I murmured, looking at Loki, who was fast asleep in Eugene's arms.

"Yeah, he's so clingy," he said with a smile.

"He got it from you," I said, and he simply smiled.

Eugene reports that the two housemates arrived around noon. They were older than Eugene and J, but I eventually warmed up to them and learned a lot from both of them because they both felt like grandmothers looking after us. After a week, Eugene and I decided to settle with the two of them, Nanay Linda and Nanay Perla; they are in their forties, but they are still fit and strong. It's also to our advantage that they both have children, as Eugene and I won't have to worry about them caring for the twins. And, thankfully, they are so pleasant that I am no longer worried.

But, of course, I can't let down my guard. But for the time being, I must try to entrust the twins to them.

"Ugh, I don't want to leave them," I grumbled as I hugged Thor and Loki's small bodies.

Eugene commented, "You're being too clingy to them."

"Wait for Mommy, huh?" I said to the twins, who were just wiggling.

"Oh, you're ignoring me now," I chuckled, looking at Uge, who was still watching the three of us in bed soberly.

"What are you complaining about?" I asked, and he just stared at me before putting his suitcase on the mini table and cuddling the twins.

"Thor, Loki, Daddy is going to work; I know you'll miss your handsome Daddy, but please be patient; Daddy will be back soon; I love you so much my handsome baby boys," he said to the two quivering children.

"Let's go, we're late; let's finish the work quickly; I want to go home early," I grumbled, and he agreed.

" Linda?" I called one of the helpers.

"Yes, Ma'am? Oh, you're going to work now?" she asks.

"Yes, please take care of the twins; we will try to get home as soon as possible," I said politely. She smiled and nodded.

"Don't worry, we'll take care of it. Perla?" she asks as she walks into the kitchen.

"Oh, Sir? Ma'am? Aren't you going to eat? I've made breakfast," Perla asked.

"I'm sorry, Pearl, we're in a hurry," Eugene politely said, and I laughed when I realized he'd called Perla, Pearl.

"We'll go first, and if you need anything, just call us, huh? There's already food in the refrigerator, but if you want something—" I paused as Mother Linda took my hand.

"Come on and don't worry about us, we'll take care of it.." she said with a smile.

I'm wondering if it's obvious that I'm too worried? I scratched my nose and nodded timidly.

"Let's go," Eugene said, pushing me out of the door.

I looked at the closed door of the condo unit before entering the elevator. Eugene's gentle embrace enveloped me.

"They'll be fine," he said, knowing that he, too, is concerned, but he tries to appear strong in front of me to assuage my fears.

"Come on..." I said softly as I stepped into the elevator first.

~

"By the way," I talked, "do the people in the company know about our situation?"

"I'm not sure. We really don't need to care whether they know or not," he said.

"Just in case there's some strange humor," I shrugged, and was surprised to feel his warm touch on my cheeks.

"Stop worrying about them; if anyone says anything bad about you or our child, I'll smash them."

"Smash? Who are you, hulk?"

"No, I'm your husband."

"H -Huh?" I didn't immediately respond to what he said; I just realized he was already out of the car and opened the door on my side.

"No, I just misheard it. Stop daydreaming, Laura, and get yourself together." When I realized he was just annoying me, my face instantly warmed up. I jumped out of the car and kicked him in the knee.

"Ouch!"

"Serves you right–hmp!" I said as I walked into the building first.

When I walked in, all eyes were on me. I just straightened my back and walked; when I got to the elevator, I paused for a moment to wait for Eugene.

"Welcome back, Mr. President."

"Good morning, Sir."

"Welcome back, Sir."

He greeted some employees who were just staring at him. When he approached me, I immediately bowed before him.

"Welcome back, Mr. President," I said politely as I extended my hand to the newly opened elevator, and he nodded and boarded.

When he entered, there was still plenty of room inside for some to ride, but the people in line pretended not to be interested. I was shaken, and the elevator boy was told to shut the door.

They are terrified of this poker-faced boss. Eugene is a capable and friendly Boss, but he also has a reputation for being a moody boss. Some employees witnessed that, and some people lost their jobs in a single day. His childish habit had shaken me at the time. ...and it hasn't happened again that I'm the one next to him; perhaps if it happens in front of me, I'll hit him 'despite the fact that he's still my Boss.'

As the elevator doors opened, we exited together. We saw Mrs. Perez holding a folder.

"Welcome back, Sir," Eugene simply nodded to her before turning to face me and tell he's going into his office now. I nod and wait for him to walk into his office.

I reach for my table desk when he finally in. Mrs. Perez handed me a folder the moment I sat in my chair.

"Miss Laura, here are Sir's schedules for today." I picked up the folder, and my eyes ached as I saw the meetings and those that needed to be fixed.

"Thank you; I'll take care of it. Anything else? Did any important documents arrive?" I ask, starting to reorganise Eugene's schedule.

"Ah, nothing, ma'am," I nodded, relieved that there would be no extra work.

"OK, thank you," I said.

I became distracted when she simply stood in front of my table. When I looked up at her, I noticed her curious expression.

"Is there anything else you'd like to say, Mrs. Perez?" I ask professionally, starting to feel awkward about what she's doing.

"Ms. Laura, I heard the ex-secretary gave birth to Sir Eugene's baby. Are they back together? I heard that girl used to seduce Sir Eugene. So now that she's a mother of an heir, she's already rich and didn't have to work, no? What a cunning woman."

What I heard from her filthy mouth made me clench my fist.

"I've also heard she's a gold digger, trying to seduce a wealthy man in order to improve her lifestyle; what a poor woman,"
