Bianca blinked and Max was gone.

Just like that. One second he was standing there in front of her, urgently telling her to hide the burner phone and be careful, and the next second he had melted into the shadows behind the decorative screens.

Bianca stood there alone, her hand pressed against her pocket where the phone was hidden, trying to process everything that had just happened. James had sent someone to check on her. James was still trying to help her, still trying to take down Anna.

  • Her Dark Obsession    Chapter 108

Anna left Marcus's office after arranging the transfer of two hundred thousand dollars to his account. She got into the car and sat in silence for a moment, thinking.Something about Marcus's demand for upfront payment bothered her. Not the money itself, but the timing. Why ask for payment now, when Bianca was missing and every second counted? Why risk angering Anna by making financial demands in the middle of a crisis?Unless Marcus had another reason for wanting immediate cash. Unless he was planning something Anna had not anticipated.Anna pulled out her phone and dialed a number she rarely used. It rang twice before someone answered."Yes?" The voice was male, deep, careful."Nicolas. I need you to do something for me. Immediately." Anna kept her voice low even though Thomas could not hear her from the front seat."What do you need?""I want surveillance on Marcus. Round the clock. I want to know where he goes, who he talks to, what he does with his time." Anna glanced back at the

Anna left the warehouse immediately, ignoring Kane's protests that they needed to finish the business transaction. She did not care about business. Did not care about the deal or the buyers or maintaining their partnership. The only thing that mattered was finding Bianca.Thomas drove while Anna sat in the back seat coordinating her search efforts. She called every contact she had, pulled every favor owed to her, activated every resource at her disposal.Someone had taken Bianca. And Anna was going to find out who and make them regret it.Twenty minutes later, Thomas pulled up to a small office building on the edge of the industrial district. Marcus was waiting outside, leaning heavily on a cane. His arm was still bandaged from the gunshot wound Anna had given him, his face still showing bruises from James's beating. But he was alive. And he had information.Anna got out of the car and walked over to him. "Show me what you found."Marcus led her inside to a small room filled with comp

Anna stood in the living room of the warehouse, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. Her guards were searching every inch of the building and surrounding area, but she already knew they would not find Bianca here. Bianca was gone. Taken. And Anna had failed to protect her. She replayed the sequence of events in her mind, trying to understand how it had happened so fast. The meeting with Kane and the buyers had been tense. Anna had been focused on watching Kane's reactions, on reading the situation, on determining if the transaction was legitimate or a trap. They had been in the conference room for maybe twenty minutes when the first gunshot rang out. Anna had immediately reached for her weapon. Kane had done the same. The two buyers had dove under the table. More gunshots. Rapid fire. Coming from the main warehouse area where Bianca was waiting. Anna had run for the door. Kane had shouted something behind her but she had not stopped to listen. She burst into the living

Bianca realized with absolute clarity that she was being held prisoner. This was not a misunderstanding or a safety precaution. This man was actively preventing her from leaving, holding her against her will.Terror flooded through her system."Help!" Bianca screamed at the top of her lungs. "Someone help me! I am being held here! Please, anyone, help!"She screamed until her throat was raw, until her voice cracked and broke. Screamed for Anna, for the police, for anyone who might hear. The man just stood there watching her, his expression completely neutral."Help me! Please!" Bianca kept screaming, kept begging. Finally the man spoke. "No one can hear you. We are in the middle of nowhere. The nearest building is miles away. You can scream all you want. It will not make any difference."Bianca stopped, her voice failing. "Where am I? What is this place?""A facility. Remote. Secure. Designed specifically to keep people isolated." The man gestured around the room. "The walls are sound

Bianca knew instantly that something was very wrong. These guards were not acting on Anna's orders. They were acting on Kane's.She opened her mouth to scream again but the guard's hand clamped down harder over her face, cutting off the sound. Then she saw it. The guard holding the glass pulled something from inside his jacket. A gun. Small, compact, easily concealed. He pointed it directly at Bianca's chest."Stop struggling," he said quietly. "Drink the juice or I shoot you. Simple choice."Bianca's eyes went wide with terror. She tried to shake her head but the guard holding her kept her immobilized."We do not want to hurt you. We just need you to drink this and go to sleep for a while. That is all." The guard with the gun moved the weapon closer. "But if you keep fighting, if you keep making noise, this ends very differently. Understand?"Bianca nodded slightly. Her mind was racing. Anna was in another room. The door was thirty feet away, surrounded by guards. There was no escape

After Anna's confession about having feelings for her, Kane had demanded they move the actual business discussion to a private room. He wanted to conduct the transaction away from Bianca's presence, claiming her being there was too much of a distraction.Anna had reluctantly agreed, but only after making Kane promise that Bianca would be safe in the waiting area. She had positioned Bianca in what appeared to be a large living room adjacent to the warehouse space, a place where Kane apparently conducted more formal business meetings."Stay here," Anna had told Bianca. "Do not leave this room. Do not talk to anyone. I will be back in thirty minutes at most."Then Anna and Kane had disappeared into the main conference room with the two buyers, leaving Bianca alone.Well, not entirely alone. There were security guards positioned throughout the space. At least six of them that Bianca could see. All wearing dark suits, all standing at attention in various corners of the room.Bianca sat on
