A New Member.

"Mrs. Aysel Brown, congratulations! You are two months pregnant!" he exclaimed, extending his hand to congratulate Aysel. However, his hand was left hanging in mid-air, as Aysel hesitated to reciprocate the gesture.

A small frown briefly appeared on Dr. Andrew's face, but he quickly dismissed it, redirecting his hand towards Camellia instead. Yet, his attempt to engage Camellia was met with a harsh glare, indicating her displeasure about the unexpected news so he slowly retracted his hand and took a seat back on his chair.

"What do you mean by my daughter is pregnant, Dr. Andrew?" she asked, struggling to accept the sudden and unexpected news the doctor shared.

Dr. Andrew's response was cheerful, and he seemed oblivious to Camellia's disbelief.

"Isn't it wonderful news, Mrs. Brown? You're going to be a grandmother!" he exclaimed, his excitement palpable.

However, Camellia's reaction was far from what Dr. Andrew had expected.

Instead of being overjoyed, she gave him a deadpan glare, indicating her displeasure and disbelief about the unexpected news.

The usual excitement that comes with the opportunity of becoming a grandmother was absent in her demeanor.

Camellia was in disbelief not able to accept the doctor's diagnosis. Her voice was tensed as she addressed Dr. Andrew.

"It's not possible. How can you say that Aysel is pregnant when she doesn't even have a boyfriend? Please run the tests again, your diagnosis must be incorrect," she insisted, not trusting the initial results.

Aysel, on the other hand, was overwhelmed with panic and fear. Despite the air conditioner in the Doctor's office, Aysel broke out in a cold sweat and clutched her dress tightly, wrinkling it in the process. Her heart raced as she tried to come to terms with the situation.

Aysel knew she was in a lot of trouble because she did not know what to say to her mother or the doctor. How was she going to explain to her mother the ordeal she had passed through three months ago?

When Camellia's gaze met Aysel's nervous eyes, Aysel looked away, too embarrassed to face her mother. She didn't know how to explain the situation to her mother, and the fear of judgment and disappointment her mother would have about her weighed heavily on her.

Camellia had confidence in Aysel but she made a fool of herself right in front of the doctor unknown to her because of Aysel's secret decision three months back.

Her gaze shifted from the doctor to Aysel, filled with suspicion. It bore into Aysel, causing her to squirm uncomfortably in her seat.

"Aysel?" Camellia questioned, her eyebrow arched in skepticism, further intensifying Aysel's unease. With her head bowed, Aysel nervously replied,

"Yes, Mom," Aysel muttered, barely audible to the ears.

The shame and embarrassment were overwhelming for her, making it impossible for Aysel to meet her mother's piercing gaze. The weight of her past decision weighed heavily on her, leaving her feeling unworthy and afraid of disappointing her mother even more.

"Is what the Doctor saying true?" Camellia asked, trying to be calm so she wouldn't be frightened more.

But the answer that was left in the air was a deafening silence.

Dr. Andrew seated behind his table, had his eyes glued on the two people before him. It's almost like some of the cases he had in his hospital. Unforeseen pregnancy it seems to be by the looks of things that were unveiling before him.

Camellia's frustration and anger began to overpower her initial calm demeanor as Aysel remained silent in response to her question. Growing increasingly agitated, she repeated her inquiry, this time with a louder and more forceful tone.

"I asked you a question, Aysel. Is what Dr. Andrew saying true?"

Startled by her mother's sudden change in tone, Aysel was shaken, her head bowed in grief. A single tear escaped her eye, landing on her dress and leaving a small damp spot.

Dr. Andrew, sensing the tension, interjected, calling for Camellia's attention.

"Erm, Mrs. Brown," he said, trying to redirect her focus from Aysel to himself.

"I think it would be much better and appropriate if you take this matter home and calmly question her as much as you want to. Yelling at her would not help sort anything out in this kind of situation. Talk to her and help her get better, let me know when the matter has been settled."

The Doctor advised, giving Camellia a slight smile on his lips as he gave her the test papers.

Accepting it, Camellia nodded in agreement, grateful for the doctor's advice.

"Thank you, Doctor. I appreciate your help. I'll be sure to contact you if any further concerns arise," she said, picking up her bag and preparing to leave the office.

A soft sniffle resonated in the office, originating from the dark brown-haired girl who sat with her head bowed beside her mother.

Camellia, still harboring anger towards Aysel, tried to fortify her emotions and not be overly harsh.

"Get up, let's leave. Do you want to shed an ocean of tears in his office?" she said, her voice tinged with frustration.

She extended a hand towards Aysel, silently urging her to stand so they could leave the office, hoping to address the situation in a more private and composed setting.

Aysel slowly took her mother's caring soft hand, the awkwardness she felt was evident on her face about the thing she had in her womb. She was not as bold as before anymore. She sheepishly took her mother's hand and grabbed her little purse as she stood up from the seat with her head still bent.

Dr. Andrew gave them a slight smile and pushed his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose. "Take care, Mrs. Brown. I wish you and your daughter the best," he said, bidding her farewell.

"Same here, Doctor Andrew." Camellia raised a tight smile on her delicate but tensed facial features as she bided him.
