I began to understand why Sir was so protective of me during the meeting with Mr. Cruz. The way he had held me then conveyed something entirely different. Now, it seemed like two men were interested in me, and I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around it.

Maybe I should simply resign my work since I can not be a trophy.

But the idea of quitting my job didn’t sit well with me. I’d been aiming for this position for almost three years, and I wasn’t going to walk away from that. I just needed to pull myself together and focus on what I was here to do.

I opened my laptop and reviewed the document that my agent had sent me.After correcting a few errors, I sent it back to her. That’s when the door creaked open, and in walked the agent who seemed a little too interested in Mr. Cruz.

I could tell by her expression that she either had gossip to share or some advice to offer, neither of which I was particularly in the mood for.
