With a deafening shatter, the villa's floor-to-ceiling shattered into pieces as a group of fierce, menacing men barged inside. Reeling from shock, I recognized the leader. He was the man in the photo my sister, Noelle Brown, had sent me a few days ago—Faris Smith, my future brother-in-law.

Before a greeting could even form on my lips, his face twisted with pure malice as he swung the iron rod in his hand straight into my face. Searing pain shot through my nose, and I felt something warm oozing down. I reached up and touched it; my fingers came away bloody.

The sudden blow caught me completely off guard, sending me into vertigo.

"Gotcha, you pathetic boy toy. I knew I'd catch you eventually! And here I thought you'd stay hidden overseas forever like a total coward!" Faris snarled. Taking advantage of my dazed state, he swung his rod again, raining brutal blows down on my head and body.

Shielding my head as the sheer agony ripped through me, I stumbled backward and tripped, crashing to the ground. "You've got it all wrong! I'm—"

Before the words could leave my mouth, Faris jammed the iron rod straight into my mouth and shoved it wildly a couple of times. A sharp, excruciating pain erupted inside my mouth, and the metallic, sweet taste of blood flooded my throat, causing me to choke and spit out a mouthful of blood.

"Like hell I've got it wrong! I know exactly how you sweet-talked Elle into buying you this place. You must've found out about our engagement, so you came back to insert yourself into our lives.

"Even if you failed, you figured you could still be her kept man, right? Right here and right now, I'm going to show you exactly what happens to homewreckers!" He brought his foot down, kicking me flat onto the floor.

The back of my head slammed violently against the sharp edge of the coffee table, and I felt my skin split open on impact. Desperate and enraged, I swallowed the blood pooling in my throat and forced out, "You seriously have it all wrong! I'm Noelle's biological younger brother. She literally texted me a few days ago, asking me to fly back for the engagement party…"

Faris froze. One of the brutes behind him stepped forward and whispered in his ear, "I actually did hear that the Boss has a biological younger brother who's been living abroad for years. None of us knows what the guy looks like, though. Word is, they're fraternal twins."

Faris glanced at my face. "Fraternal twins? This kid doesn't look a damn thing like Elle."

Right at that moment, another heavily built man with a prominent facial scar walked in. It was Blaine Dawson, Noelle's trusted subordinate.

He was an old-timer who had been by Noelle's side for years. He would definitely recognize me!

"Blaine, it's me, Noe!" I forced the words out of my throat.

Blaine was caught off guard for a moment. Then, he looked over at me. "Who is this kid? How does he know me?" he asked, confused.

Faris, however, raised the iron rod in his hand once more, cracking it hard against my jaw. Clutching my mouth, I was in too much agonizing pain to utter another word.

"He's that boy toy I told you about. He must have caught your name when the guys greeted you."

Blaine shook his head. "That can't be. I could've sworn he just said he was Noe. Noe is Mr. Brown's nickname. There's no way a random stranger would know that."

He strode up to me, forced my face up, and tilted it side to side as he studied me. "He looks nothing like Mr. Brown."

My heart sank. Blaine had never seen me since I had my plastic surgery.

"Wait a minute! Mr. Brown was sent abroad specifically to undergo plastic surgery back then," Blaine remembered out loud. "Did you have work done on your face?"

I nodded frantically, pouring all my hope into my eyes to plead with him. "Yes, I'm Noelle!"

Faris sneered, refusing to buy it. "He's a boy toy who makes a living off his looks. Isn't it normal for someone like him to have plastic surgery?"

Blaine raised his hand, stopping him in his tracks. "Faces can be changed, but identities can't. Search his pockets for his ID; that'll settle it."

At his order, two heavy-built men stepped forward and pinned me down to rifle through my pockets. I writhed and tried to break free from their grasp, only to be slapped across the face by Faris. "Hold still! Let's tie him up."

Bound tightly, I endured the sheer humiliation of being patted down. Blaine grew anxious. "Why did you beat him up this badly? What if he really is Mr. Brown?"

"Is that so? Stop making excuses for yourself!" Noelle sneered. Swiping her fingers across the screen, she brought up various other surveillance footage and receipts. "For the last six months, you've been leveraging your connection to me to skim off the top and embezzle corporate funds. Did you really think I was clueless?"Faris lifted his chin, digging his heels in. "So what? I'm your fiance. The company is yours, which means half of it will be mine in the future. I was merely taking an advance on my allowance!"Noelle shook her head. "That money doesn't belong to me alone; what you did is illegal!"Tears welled up in his eyes, and he adopted that wounded-puppy look again. "I know I messed up, honey. Can you forgive me just this once? I'll pay back every cent I embezzled; we can even use it to treat Noel's face, alright? "You promised to marry me; you said you loved me! I just had a momentary lapse in judgment. Give me one more chance, please! "I promise I'll be good to Noe. I

Faris accepted it with a smile and pushed the straw between my lips. Horrified, I shook my head frantically, refusing to drink.Noelle sighed. "Why are you being so difficult? I distinctly remember telling you to behave."Holding the glass, Faris reprimanded me as well. "Exactly. Listen to Noelle. Hurry up and drink—"Before he could finish, she pulled a syringe out of his chest and spat out, "I wasn't speaking to him. I was speaking to you. I told you, anyone who tries to hurt my brother has to die. But since you're still my fiance, I'll give you a chance."Noelle clapped her hands, and the two burly men from earlier rushed into the room. "Tie him up," she ordered. The men bound Faris tightly, ensuring he couldn't move an inch. Noelle's conversation with them helped me understand everything. As it turned out, the moment Faris eagerly tried to shift the blame to Blaine and even wanted to silence him permanently, Noelle had already sensed that something was wrong. Thus, she had or

"Honey, you've been running yourself ragged all day; you must be exhausted. I'll stay with Noel. So, you should go home and get some rest," Faris offered gently, massaging Noelle's shoulders and head.Noelle visibly leaned into his touch, taking his hand and letting out a low hum of agreement. "But I'm really worried about Noe. I want to keep watch over him myself.""We're getting married soon, so your brother is my brother. I was tricked by Blaine into kicking Noel, so it's only right that I make amends to him. Or... Do you not trust me?" Faris inquired, shedding a tear, as if he were filled with remorse. Noelle held his hand in return and comforted him gently. "You know, when you give me those puppy eyes, you look like the spitting image of my brother. Don't cry. I'll head back right now."Noelle rose from her seat and stroked my cheek. Then, under my terrified gaze, she turned and left. "Don't go, Noelle! He'll kill me!" I pleaded silently. I was so anxious that tears almost

Faris grabbed a pair of surgical scissors from the instrument tray and rammed them straight into Blaine's mouth. Clutching his mouth in agony, Blaine couldn't utter another word. However, Faris wasn't done with him. He used the scissors to butcher the man's lips. Blaine curled into a ball on the floor, writhing and clutching his bleeding mouth. Faris tossed the blood-stained scissors aside and threw himself at Noelle's feet. "Honey, his name is literally engraved on that knife. How could it possibly be mine? "Earlier, completely ignoring my warnings, he held that knife to Noel's face and asked if Noel knew why he was named Blaine. Noel cursed at him, so he slashed his face, cut his lips, and disfigured him. Noel's is so pitiful!"Noelle took the knife and realized it really was the one she had gifted Blaine back then. Little did she know, Faris had asked Blaine for this knife just that morning. Knowing that Faris was about to become Noelle's husband, Blaine hadn't wanted to cr

The color drained from Blaine's face. Dropping to his knees, he began banging his head frantically against the floor. "Boss, I didn't hurt Mr. Brown! It was Mr. Smith who—"Before he could finish his sentence, Faris shoved a rolling pin into his mouth, cutting him off as blood welled up and spilled from the corners of his lips. "He's the one who hurt Noel! Honey, you heard it too. I was about to accept Noel, but Bee told me he isn't your brother. "He said Noel's an impostor, and I believed him… I even had him beat Noel to a pulp. This is all my fault!" A murderous glint flashed in Faris' eyes. "I'll avenge Noel right now!" He raised the rolling pin and began rain-inducing blows down on Blaine. Blaine screamed in agony as the blows rained down on him. "He's lying, Boss! I didn't lay a hand on Mr. Brown. Faris did—""How dare you frame me?" Faris put his whole weight into it, slamming the rolling pin violently against Blaine's skull. Blaine's cries stopped dead as he fell backward,

Noticing Noelle's eyes turn bloodshot and her entire frame begin to tremble, Blaine hurriedly elaborated, "Boss, this kid's name is clearly Ash. Earlier, he screamed his head off, claiming he was Mr. Brown, and he almost managed to fool Mr. Smith, too! Fortunately, I've been by your side long enough to know Mr. Brown's name is Noel and that you sent him to Eisenwald, not Kessland! "This kid had one foot in the grave and still had the nerve to impersonate Mr. Brown. Good thing I showed up right on time to tear his cover story to shreds…" The more he continued, the more pleased with himself he became. He looked at Noelle, as if he were waiting to be praised. As soon as his words fell, Faris' wheels turned, and he immediately threw Blaine under the bus. "That's right! Thank God for Blaine. He saw right through this punk's lies and beat him up!"Devastated, she threw my documents aside and dashed over. She ripped me away from the burly man's grasp, cradling me as she broke down. "Noe,
