The Trust

Ariana's POV

I looked at the name on the screen; my heart started racing so fast and loud I could hear it in my ears. I could barely hear anything else in the room.

Dr Marcus Whitfield. Secondary legal contact, Meridian Trust 4471.

"That name doesn't mean anything to me," I said slowly, though something about it nagged at the edges of my memory, some half-formed recognition I couldn't quite pin down.

"It should," Sebastian said quietly, his voice sounding so cool. "He was on the board

The Nice ManAriana's POVThe drive home felt so endless; even if it took less than twenty-five minutes, it still felt like we drove for an hour-plus.Kylan sat beside me in the back seat, his jaw tight, his phone already in his hand as he called ahead to the mansion's security team just to make sure the security was in place. Sebastian, still looking weak from the surgery, had insisted on coming despite every protest from both of us; he propped against the door with his arm in a sling, his face pale but his eyes sharp with the same fury I felt burning through my own chest."Skylar's pulling the footage now," Kylan said, ending his call. "All of it. School pickup, the park, the house perimeter.""How long has this been happening?"I asked, trying to stay controlled; that's the only way I could keep myself from falling apart in front of the driver. "Weeks, Jason said. Like seriously, weeks, and nobody noticed.""We'll know soon," Sebastian said quietly. "Don't spiral before we have th

"He was on the board of directors at FrosTech. Before my father died, he resigned right after the funeral, saying he wanted to focus on his private consulting job."The room went very still. That's when it rang in my brain."He's connected to Ashworth," Kylan said, already pulling up another search, his fingers moving fast across the keyboard despite the tremor that hadn't fully left his hands. "They would have known each other. Both worked closely with your father.”"These two men knew my father so well. Both are

Watched From The Start Ariana’s POV I could not get enough air into my lungs. The hospital room shrank around me. The walls seemed closer than before it was. The monitors beeped too loudly against the noise rising in my head. “That cannot be true, right?” I said, even though the words already felt hollow. Some part of me had accepted the truth the second Skylar spoke. “Kylan, we built SinTech from nothing. From a tiny apartment with a broken air conditioner and a business plan I scribbled on hotel stationery.” “I know.” His voice stayed even, but the same shock moved across his face. He was fighting to keep it locked down. “I remember every investor meeting. Every pitch. I checked each person myself.” “Then how does a shell company linked to Ashworth end up in our first round?” “I do not know yet.” He crossed the room and sat on the edge of the bed near Sebastian’s feet. He pulled out his laptop. “But we are going to learn right now.” My hands shook too hard to type, s

Older Than Six YearsSebastian's POVI couldn't stop staring at the payment record.Ariana had gone quiet beside my bed, her phone still in her hand, Skylar's words still hanging in the air between us. Someone's been funding both sides of this war the entire time. But my mind had already moved somewhere else, dragged backwards by a memory I'd spent eight years trying not to examine too closely."Sebastian?" Ariana's voice pulled me back. What are you thinking? "You've gone somewhere.""My father," I said quietly. "He died in a car accident. Eight years ago."Kylan straightened by the window. "You mentioned that before. Failed Brakes, wasn't it?""I never checked," I admitted, the words sounding strange to me. "I was twenty-one. And my mother handled everything, the investigation, the funeral, the company transition. I never thought of asking her for once or seeing the accident report."Ariana had no expression "Sebastian, if his brakes failed the same way mine did—""I know." My hand

A Familiar Name Sebastian’s POV Ariana set the napkin on the hospital tray table in front of me, and the two words written there stopped every other thought in my head. Victor Ashworth. I stared at that name while a cold weight settled deep in my chest that had nothing to do with the medication still dulling the pain in my shoulder. “You know him,” she said.It was not a question. Yes, I do. He served as my father’s attorney before the man died,” I answered, pushing myself higher against the pillows even though the movement pulled hard at the wound. “Ashworth handled the will and the full transfer of company control.” Kylan remained near the window with his arms folded. “What became of him after your father passed?” He stayed on for a couple of years and then stepped away. My mother managed the changeover and told me he simply wanted distance from corporate work.” Memories flashed through my head slower than I needed them to. I never challenged any of it. I was twent

Chapter 51 The Informant Ariana’s POV I picked the diner on purpose. It sat on the edge of the industrial district where truckers and night-shift workers stopped for coffee and eggs, the kind of place where a woman who owned a large share of a tech company would never normally set foot, and that was exactly the point. Kylan sat across from me in the corner booth, his eyes moving to the parking lot every few seconds while I kept both hands wrapped around a coffee cup I had no real intention of drinking. “You’re sure about this?” he asked again. “He called back an hour after the ransom demand and said he would meet in person if we brought cash for the information he has to share with us, not for silence,” I said. “That’s different from blackmail.” “Or do you think it's a trap?“Honestly, everything feels like a trap these days,” I answered, glancing toward the door.“We can’t keep assuming the worst and then still doing nothing.” The bell above the door rang, and a man wa

Sebastian’s POVSomething was wrong with my company FrosTech. I had felt it long before the reports ever confirmed it. Ariana’s POV (Six years later)After six years away, the city of Los Angeles still looked the same, smelled the same, and even felt the same to me.And although the place hardly forgot a scandal, especially one linking to one of the most powerful families in the city, it didn’t recognize me.There
