Alvara's Point of View
Horse riding with Maverick felt like a peaceful reprieve from the busy house. Ciaran had headed off for business deeper into the city. Ozias and Dargan profusely planned for the coming war. They had to get spies out. People to listen to everything going on within Half-Moon. Maverick had wanted to join them. Help them in their pursuit of winning what was to come. It had been three full days since our encounter with Eugene. Two days spent in agony and then one night in bliss.
I could feel their minds constantly on the cusp of mine. With a single thought, I could talk to them. Hear from them. Know that I wasn't alone. But Maverick had seen the sadness in my eyes when they all wanted to leave. Had offered to stay, instead calling Harland to fill his shoes for the day.
Harland had a lot of catching up to do regarding protocol and the likes. Teagan had assured us all over the loudspeaker that he was a quick study. From
Maverick's Point of View She had chosen pepper to ride. a bold choice for someone who had only ridden a horse once previously. Somehow, the mare was docile with her. Walked at a rather sluggish pace. Pepper even tolerated Angus around her. Maybe the horse had sensed something I couldn't. How fragile Alvara truly was. But she was growing. Expanding her once narrow horizon into something much more. Being in her company was a small mercy to my mind. Although,I had to swallow down my growing urgency. Ciaran had told us of the situation regarding Nerezza. How another party would be held as a facade for what was truly to happen. Plans would be made. Security tightened and the guest list doubled but carefully picked. Nothing could go amiss or we could lose our biggest ally within this war. Nerezza was a hard-ass wrapped up in a pretty little package. When she had approached us for the first time, Ciaran had nearly slept with the woman
Ciaran's Point of ViewLuckily I had been on my way home when Maverick's panicked message came through. Forgotten my laptop at home that I had needed for my second meeting. My car burst forward from hitting the accelerator so hard. Bends in the road were taken by skidding. Sliding. Fear was a horrid scent in my nose. Rage only an undercurrent. How had they gotten in? Where were my patrols and guards?Memories of Savanah's death strolled in and out of my mind. My jaw was already sore from gritting my teeth so hard. The looming gates to the estate came into a view. They opened too slowly. Skimmed the paint from the sides of my car as I rushed inside. Blood wailed inside my head. This was just a fever-induced nightmare. I would wake from it soon.Ozias' car was in the driveway. I stopped, barely putting off the car before leaping for the front door. Dargan, Harland, and Ozias were busy in the living room. Done for the da
Alvara's Point of ViewDisbelief shuddered through my system. Just seeing the power I had over another person was enough to make my mind crumble. Then the true realization set in. I was an Alpha. Eugene had kept my people from me. Made me believe I was alone within Half-Moon when an entire other pack had existed beneath the surface. Why had none of them come forward? Show themselves to me? Tell me about the horrors that had happened back at my original home.Commanding that man to shift so easily was nerve-wracking. Despite my best wishes, I knew I had gotten the trait from my mother. Savanah had most likely possessed the talent before me. But I was now the sole heir of my people. People I had assumed were extinct except for Albert. Had he known people survived? Or had he fled before realizing it?All these questions crossed my mind as we made our way home. Maverick had stayed in human form to guide Pepper home. My reins had been used t
Alvara's Point of ViewThis revelation changed everything inside of me. Some part I had long forgotten opened an eye. Stared at the world from a completely different perspective. No longer would I be blind to the horrors in the world. Naive to the point of being manipulated. Admitting my life's tragedies opened me up to the more powerful part of my being. The part that would no longer be controlled by trauma. Suffering.Mason was born within Lover's Quarrel. He was part of my pack. My parents' pack. Once upon a time, he had belonged to Savanah as well. We couldn't just invade Half-Moon anymore. Couldn't just kill without questioning.According to Mason, approximately five thousand residents within Half-Moon came from Lover's Quarrel. After I had explained everything to him thoroughly, he was in disbelief. Looked at me from a different point of view. As I had thought, Eugene had either kept my identity a secret or threatened the pa
Adelia's Point of ViewMother had her back turned towards me when I entered the kitchen. A light hum filled the room as she swayed her hips. She was oddly happy considering what day it was. Father was coming and once again, the healer had to smuggle him inside of Eiecrunt to visit me. Ciaran's obvious distaste of the man had everything to do with how my mother had portrayed him. Although I knew she was right in some aspects.Refusing for me to go visit Desert Sun had come from me pleading with her to tell him no. Mother had taken the brunt of his anger. Now he would come here to see me. I had been ever grateful for my mother's intervention, even if she couldn't understand why."Good morning, Adelia," Sybil greeted, her back still towards me. I walked inside the kitchen and grabbed a seat at the breakfast nook. "I see you haven't ordered the maids to make pastries this time around. Care to explain?" She enquired. I intertwined my f
Ozias' Point of ViewAlvara finding out that her pack was still alive left us all scrambling for some answers. Mason had remained in the cellar, even with Alvara's persistent protests. Ciaran had still deemed him a flight risk and until Mason proved otherwise, he would stay confined to the cellar. Alvara had gone to sleep early last night after spending the rest of the day with Albert. From her mood during dinner, I knew she wasn't completely taking the news of her being an Alpha all that well. Albert had seemed to lift her spirits slightly. The rest of us were on thin ice after Ciaran had declared Mason a flight risk. She wasn't happy at all.Our plans will have to change. We could no longer engage in open combat with Half-Moon. Conflict could lead to civilians losing their lives. Civilians that now belonged to our stubborn mate. It was a beautiful Saturday morning and Alvara refused to get out of her room.Ciaran rose early. So
Ciaran's Point of ViewIt had been a pleasure seeing the utter fury within Sybil's eyes. The healer had forgotten her place within this pack. Forgotten that she was here to assist us in our endeavors and not her own. We were no one's pawns anymore. Keeping Adelia here against Sybil's wishes had been a line drawn in the sand. A reminder to her that I could still do as I pleased.I hadn't clawed myself this far only to be commanded by someone who took advantage of our hospitality when she needed a place to stay. A place to get away from her abusive cunt of an ex. Sadly, her daughter had felt the brunt of their divorce. My sympathy towards Adelia still didn't dull the cation I felt around her.Something in her eyes just threw me for a loop every single time I looked at her. As if she was trying to be better but couldn't fully fight her demons on her own.No matter that, she was a good enough friend to Alvara that I would tolerate he
Alvara's Point of ViewThe party was a looming force in the back of my mind. Last time I had been pleasured by Maverick and Ozias. Came more times than I had ever thought possible. This time around, things would be different. I was now mated to them. Felt every emotion they had through touch and the mate bond.Would they want to participate fully? What kind of kinks did the rest of them have? All these things jumbled through my mind as I waited for Maverick and Ciaran to return after putting Mason in his new room. After giving him more decent clothes to wear. Our full plan would come later. Not today. For now, I had other things in mind. Wicked little things that Maverick had mentioned and I had googled with Adelia before she left. Her mother never needed her. But I had needed my mates. This time I wouldn't be left in the dark regarding all the desires of the body. The entire Mason situation had com
