TALIA'S POV

No, this can’t be happening. I was probably just seeing things because this can’t be real.

I didn’t want to believe it, even though it was happening right in front of me.

So this was what had been going on all along? I was being deceived, and I was stupid enough to fall for it.

So my suspicions were right? Zeke was the one Bambi had been talking to on the phone, and the two of them were actually a secret couple planning to tear Maxton and me apart?

All this time I spent hating Maxton, even going as far as dating Zeke just to convince myself I didn’t want Maxton, was all pointless. I had just been playing along with their games, and like a fool, I had fallen right into their trap.

I took a step back in total disbelief, and without watching where I was going, I bumped into a vase in the hallway. It crashed to the floor with a loud noise that immediately alerted them.

Fuck.

“Who is there?” Zeke’s voice was the first I heard. That was my cue to leave.

I didn’t waste a second,

MAXTON’S POV I stood there, dumbfounded, wondering what the hell Zeke was doing here and how he even found this place. “Where is Talia? I need to speak to her!” he demanded rudely.I was just about to open my mouth to give him an answer when he shoved me aside and barged into my house.I scoffed, amused by his audacity, but I wanted to see what his plan was. I wanted to know what the hell was going on. Leaning back against the door, arms folded, I watched Zeke yell, “Talia! Talia, come down here! We need to talk for a second! Talia!”He shouted even louder, but there was no response. Then he turned to me, anger blazing in his eyes, before storming forward and grabbing me by the collar. “Where the fuck is Talia? You better tell me right now, or you won’t like what I do next,” he threatened, tightening his grip. But I didn’t reply. I didn’t say a word. Instead, I just stared at him, a smirk on my face.“Answer me, you fucking bastard!” he yelled even louder. Just then, a familiar voice

MAXTON'S POV Something was seriously wrong, something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. But at least she wasn’t acting like her usual hostile self. She was warming up to me, and I didn’t want to ruin it by pressuring her with endless questions about what might be going on. I was sure that if she wanted to talk about it, she eventually would.“So, what kind of movie do you want to watch?” I asked. We were both settled on the couch while I scrolled through Netflix, trying to pick something that suited her taste perfectly.Does she like romance? I didn’t want to pick romance, since that might come across as desperate on my part. Better to let her suggest whatever genre she was in the mood for.“I don’t know, what do you want?” she asked, turning to me.I shrugged, shifting my attention back to the TV, trying not to make it obvious that I was nervous as hell making eye contact with her even though I am usually confident around women.Well, good thing I am doing a decent job at that anyw

Talia's Pov I held the phone to my ear, confused. No, that wasn’t the right word for how I felt at that moment. It was more like devastated as I heard Bambi’s voice. Was this real? Was this really happening? The more I thought about it, the less sense it made. I knew Bambi’s voice too well to mistake it. She had used it to torture and torment me too many times. This was definitely her. This was Bambi.“Zeke, can you hear me? Are you going to say something, or do you plan on just staying quiet?” she repeated, her voice growing impatient.I didn’t say a word. I couldn’t even think of what to say. I just sat there, frozen, the phone pressed to my ear.“Fine, don’t say anything then. We will talk better when I am around,” she said, and then she hung up.At that moment, I felt my whole world crash right in front of me. Suddenly, nothing made sense anymore, absolutely nothing. And I felt nothing. It was so hard, painfully hard, to process my own emotions.I heard the sound of one of the ro

Talia's Pov I took a deep breath as guilt took over me again. I knew I shouldn’t feel this way, but I couldn’t help it.Why do I feel more connection and chemistry from a simple kiss with my step brother and not feeling the same way with my own boyfriend? None of this even makes any sense and I am beginning to get tired. At that point, I was yearning for an escape. The food eventually arrived and we began consuming it in silence at first. But Zeke, being the person he was, soon found the right topic as we began talking. He made light comments and jokes, and of course, I laughed because that felt like the polite thing to do.It didn’t take long before my stomach was full, and I couldn’t eat anymore. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my belly. As if he could read my mind, Zeke smiled and signalled to the waitress again. “Can I have the bill now?” He asked, pulling out his card“Sure, sir.” She handed it to him, and he nodded. She swiped the card through the machine, then returned it

TALIA'S POV“Come on, talk to me. What happened between you and Maxton?” Zeke asked, even more curious. The moment I mentioned Maxton's name he grew even more curious and very uneasy. I drew in a deep breath searching for the right words to say, am I supposed to just admit the truth? To tell him something really did happen between Maxton and me?I have never been the type to lie in a relationship, but I didn’t know if I could bring myself to tell him what went down between Maxton and me. It didn’t seem like the kind of thing anyone would want to admit in a relationship. It was bad and I felt absolutely nothing but disgust in myself for lying. But the truth had to be told, it was the best thing to do in this situation.“You are not saying anything, Talia. Please, talk to me,” Zeke urged. I took another deep breath, forcing a nervous smile as I said“Actually, it’s nothing, Zeke. I promise. Nothing at all.” I paused for a while before saying, “what I am trying to say is, for our relati
