Chapter 34

Maya's POV

I was floating in an abyss then I wasn’t.

Searing pain in my skull ripped me out of my peaceful drifting and crash-landed me back in reality.

I moaned in pain. Every part of me hurt; my head felt like it had been split in half and something uncomfortable filled up my mouth. Death would have been a welcome relief but I was still very much alive.

How come?

My vision blurred, going in and out of focus. Bless the goddess (who seems to have abandoned me), I was still in the pack house's kitchen, in a chair.

I moved to stand but met resistance and looked down to see my limbs bound by zip ties.

Did he think these could restrain a werewolf?

I growled, yanking hard on the zip ties with all my might but they wouldn't budge. My tugging turned frantic with panic and I eventually became lightheaded.

I could not break free, my wolf was weak from all the blood I had lost.

'Shit.' The gag in my mouth turned my frustrated curse into inaudible grunts.
