Chapter 37

Maya's POV

The pack's physician gave my health an okay yesterday after I woke up and although most of my injuries had healed up thanks to our speedy healing as werewolves, my head wound was going to take a few more days.

Also, the few scars scattered on my body will forever remind me of how close to Death's door I had gotten two days ago.

Chase and I were in his study with Henry and Ron. I had just finished recounting everything to them too, and had watched Ron's face fall at every point throughout the story where Jonathan showed up.

He was leaning against the wall with his arms folded and a frown etched between his brows.

When I was done, the incident hung over the room like a weighty blanket as we stayed quiet, lost in our thoughts.

I knew Ron felt bad about leaving me but let's be honest, Jonathan would have tried to kill me another time. Plus, it was my stupid ass that had insisted on staying alone when I knew a murderer was after me.
