Chapter One

Two years earlier......

Harvey's POV

The field was beautiful, filled with flowers of different bright colours. The air was also cool despite the shimmering sun, it was a beautiful day.

I sighed in content, what more could I want?

Everything right now was perfect.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of footsteps coming from my right. I turned to it and my heart beat increased, it was a boy. He looked to be about the same age as me and he was walking closer to me. I stood still and watched until he was right in front of me, I looked up to try and see his face but the sun was suddenly so bright that all I could see was the shape of his head.

He smelled really nice, I couldn't pinpoint exactly what he smelled of but I knew it was a very pleasant scent. He also had no shirt on, his bare chest glistened with a wet like sheen under the sun. My eyes spotted three peculiar birthmarks close to his left shoulder that looked like three moles coming together to form a triangle.

"Harvey" the boy called, he knew my name but his voice sounded so faint, almost like a whisper

"Who are you?" I asked in awe, I looked up towards his face again. The harsh glare of the sun still would not relent enough to let me catch a glimpse of his face so I had no choice but to settle my gaze on the birthmarks.

The boy gingerly and slowly reached up a hand to my face. I could have flinched away from his touch but for some reason; I found myself leaning into it.

He lovingly caressed my cheek

"I'm your mate and we're going to be together forever. I also promise to love you unconditionally until the day I take my very last breath"

I gasped inaudibly

My mate!

He's my mate!

Well that definitely explains why I didn't flinch away from his touch and why his presence and scent feels so soothing. But I wanted to see his face, if he was indeed my mate then I needed to see his face

"Harvey?"

I looked up at the boy again, my mate. The voice didn't sound like it came from him.....or did it?

"Harvey? Harvey!"

I jolted awake and came face to face with the angry face of my mother glaring down disapprovingly at me. My brows furrowed in confusion, had it been a dream?

"What's going on? Where am I?" I croaked out and she scoffed

"What kinds of questions are those? It's almost eleven in the morning and you're still in bed. I know it's a weekend but I will not have any daughter of mine sleeping through the whole day. Get up, get dressed and come down for breakfast because we need to join the others for community cleaning!"

"Ugh!" I groaned loudly as she stomped away, leaving the door to my room wide open.

It had all been a dream. For a second I thought I had magically skipped a few years and found my mate but unfortunately it was all a dream. I was still fifteen and very much single, I also still had to join my family for the community cleaning that our pack; the Silver Moon pack, held every first Saturday of the month.

I felt a stirring in my mind, my wolf was waking up too. Apparently she had been asleep while I was having the dream. That's probably why I hadn't felt her react or acknowledge a mate bond with the boy in my dream.

I hear mum yelling from downstairs for me to get out of bed and get ready for the community cleaning.

The community cleaning basically just involves all the pack families and members of the Silver Moon pack coming together to clean the premises that belonged to the pack. We each get assigned to clean certain places like the pack house, the pack infirmery, the event hall, the guest house and so on.

Luckily, the Silver Moon pack was one of the smallest packs in the state with a population of only two thousand so there wasn't a lot of space to break your back cleaning.

I finally managed to drag myself out of bed and into the bathroom where I took a very quick shower before pulling on a casual outfit of a t-shirt and jeans. I stomped downstairs where I found my parents standing closely together in the kitchen, murmuring softly to each other and laughing.

I made a disgusted face at them when I came into their line of sight. I did not need their nauseating public displays of affection as the very first thing I see when I come down for my breakfast in the morning.

"Gross, I get that you're soulmates and all but I haven't had my breakfast yet so can you not?" I scowled at them and they chuckled

Dad beamed at me

"Good morning pup, how was your night?"

I sighed tiredly as I settled in front of the kitchen counter

"Fine, wish I could stay in bed all day though"

He tsked at me

"You know you can't, pup. It's the first Saturday of the month and we gotta help out. Do our part, that's what being in a pack means"

I waved dismissively at him with one hand while I poured milk into my cereal with the other

"I know, dad. You don't have to start with the lecture this morning"

He shook his head at me with a soft smile playing on his lips as I began shoveling spoonfuls of my favourite cereal into my mouth. Dad finished the rest of his coffee and placed the cup in the sink

"Well, I'm off. I'm working near the pack's border so I guess I'll see you gals later"

He gave mum a quick kiss on the lips as they bade their goodbyes

"See ya kiddo" He ruffled my hair before walking out through the kitchen door

"Bye dad"

"So do you know where you got assigned to clean?" mum asked and I shook my head at her. The kitchen door opened again and one of my best friends; Alessia, walked in smiling, dressed in casual clothes too, her long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail

"Good morning, Mrs Jones. What's up bestie?" she chirped happily

"Good morning, Alessia dear. Are you here to get Harvey?" mum asked her and she nodded

"Yep. She, Scarlett and I were lucky enough to all get assigned to the Alpha's house"

My eyes widened

"We're cleaning the Alpha's house?"

"Yeah we are and it's just the three of us so let's get going!" she urged

I blinked severally and hurriedly finished up the rest of my cereal before bading mum goodbye and walking out with an excited Alessia

"I'm so happy we get to clean the Alpha's house. I hope his sons are around, I'd love to sneak glances at them while we work!" she squealed as we rounded the corner that led to the Alpha's house

I rolled my eyes playfully at her. I wasn't as excited as her that we would be cleaning the alpha's house but I also wasn't unhappy about it. The Alpha, his Luna and their two sons were good people and very easy to like. Especially the Luna, she loved to bake so there was always lots of baked goodies available in their home which she tended to be very generous with to guests and visitors.

Her two sons; Kayden and Zachary were also not bad to look at. Kayden, who is the oldest brother and the future Alpha of our pack tended to be serious and always stuck to his dad's side, trying to learn the ropes of how to be alpha someday from him. I didn't always see him often because he was three years older than us and had finished high school but whenever I did see him, he was always polite and friendly.

His younger brother, Zach, who was the same age as us, was more laid-back. Like any other normal teenager, he enjoyed parties and video games but he wasn't a delinquent and neither did he get bad grades or sleep around. He was actually pretty decent and didn't give his parents a hard time.

"I had another dream last night" I suddenly blurted out to Alessia, causing her to immediately halt in her steps. Luckily, we were already in front of the Alpha's house

"W.... What? Another dream? Like the one you had about our science teacher that came true?" she gasped and I nodded, biting my lower lip

"But this one was different and weird" I said as I tucked my hair behind my ear

Alessia's brows furrowed

"Different and weird how?"

I leaned in closer to her and whispered

"I think I saw my mate"

Alessia gasped loudly as her eyes widened

"You what?!"

I shushed her

"Lower your voice, I don't want anybody to hear"

"Hear what?"

We both jumped at the sound of the new voice but we let out a sigh of relief when we saw our other friend, Scarlett standing behind us, grinning from ear to ear

"What are you two whispering about and what don't you want anybody to hear, Harvey?" she questioned, placing her hands on her hips

"Harvey had another dream but this time, she supposedly saw her mate" Alessia quickly filled her in in a rushed whisper and it was Scarlett's turn to gasp with bulging eyes

"Yeah, yeah. Listen let's talk about this after we finish cleaning, okay? There's no time now"

They tried protesting but I grabbed both their arms and dragged them to the door where I rang the doorbell. The Luna welcomed us warmly into the sweet smelling house and I smiled because I knew we would definitely be getting some baked goodies at the end of this.

"There's not much to clean because the boys and I have already done much of the work but you can help move some of these stuff from the garage to the basement" the Luna said and we smiled happily at each other.

Free treats and not much work, we were so loving the sound of it.

"Sure Luna, show us where to start!"

"Alright, follow me girls"

We trudged obediently after her to the garage that was filled with boxes

"Just move all these boxes down to the basement and be careful, some of them contain breakables"

"No problem Luna, we got this"

"Yeah, we can totally handle it"

She smiled warmly at us

"Alright then, I'll leave you girls to it. I'm baking cupcakes so make sure to pass by the kitchen for some when you're done"

"We sure will, thanks Luna!" we chorused and got to work immediately she left

"Harvey, isn't this like the third dream you've had since you turned fifteen?" Scarlett asked as we lifted one box each and entered back into the house to go down to the basement.

"Yeah, but I doubt this one will come true like the other two. I mean, who is lucky enough to see their mate before they turn eighteen?" Alessia said as we neatly arranged the boxes on top of each other at a corner in the wide basement

"Technically, I didn't get to see his face. I only barely heard his voice and I know that he has a very unique birthmark on his left shoulder"

Scarlett scrunched up her nose

"That's all you were able to see?"

"Yep" I nodded "But I think it's more than enough for me to identify my mate before I turn eighteen, don't you think?"

Alessia clicked her tongue as we each grabbed another box, this time; I piled on two

"Does that mean you're going to go around asking guys if they have a weird birthmark on their left shoulders?" she asked and I bit my lip in thought

"W....Well I don't know. I'll figure it out" I replied.

We arranged the boxes in the basement and walked back out to the garage. We all stopped in our tracks when we saw Zach, the youngest son of the Alpha standing close to an SUV parked a few feet away from the garage.

He looked like he was getting ready to wash the car as he was pulling a water hose that was attached to an outdoor faucet closer to the car when he saw us

"Oh my gosh, it's Zach!" Alessia squealed excitedly, loud enough for him to hear and I fought the urge to slap my forehead. The said boy flashed a charming smile at us

"Well if it isn't the three musketeers. Scarlett, Harvey and Alessia, what are you girls doing at my house? Come to see me?" he mused, wiggling his eyebrows at us and Alessia giggled

Scarlett scoffed "You wish. We got assigned to clean here"

"Yeah, so stay out of our way and let us work" I added, narrowing my eyes at him playfully.

He chuckled, raising both his hands in mock surrender

"Alright, I'll be a good boy. Don't mind me though, I'm just gonna wash my dad's car"

We shrugged and walked into the garage to grab more boxes

"I can't believe he's home!" Alessia continued to giggle "He's so hot, I wonder if his even hotter brother, Kayden is home too"

Scarlett rolled her eyes at her

"We don't know, Alessia. Why don't you ask Zach"

Alessia, being the sweet girl she is, totally missed Scarlett's sarcasm

"Yeah, I will!" she beamed and skipped out of the garage with her box

Scarlett and I shared a quick, amused look before hurrying out after her with our own boxes. We caught Alessia just in time as she was asking a shirtless Zach where his brother was

Zach smirked at her question and turned off the water, facing us fully. My eyes immediately widened as I caught a glimpse of a very familiar looking thing on his left shoulder

"How much are you gonna pay for that classified info?" he asked Alessia and she giggled

"You want money to tell me where Kayden is?"

"Sure I d-"

"What's that on your shoulder, Zach?" I cut him off in the middle of his sentence. He paused and arched a brow before looking at his shoulder at the same time Scarlett and Alessia realized what was happening, both of them letting out loud gasps

"No way, Harvey!"

"Is that what I think it is?"

I couldn't even answer their startled questions, I was still staring at the three little moles on Zach's shoulder with disbelieving eyes

Scarlett grabbed my arm

"Is it the same birthmark?"

I nodded stiffly and the girls gasped again

"You girls are starting to freak me out. What's going on? What about my birthmark?" Zach asked as the three of us continued to stare at him in stunned silence.

My whole world was spinning, I just couldn't believe it. Zach has the exact same birthmark as the boy I saw in my dream who claimed to be my mate.

So does this mean that......Zach is my MATE?
