Henry stood frozen in the shared living area, phone still pressed to his ear.

Marcus’s voice was calm on the other end, but the words landed like stones. Apparently, Lindsay had been talking. She was telling anyone who would listen that Andrea had seduced Henry and that was the only reason she had the job and became his assistant in less than two weeks. The gala photos were circulating online, some too intimate to be real and HR had already started asking quiet questions.

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 79 – COME ON, HENRY STOP...

She stayed curled against Henry’s chest long after her confession had spilled out. The penthouse was quiet except for the soft hum of the air-conditioner that was set at the corner of the room. Her tears had slowed, but her body still trembled with the aftershocks of everything she had said finally let him see.Henry held her tighter, one hand stroking slowly up and down her back. When he finally spoke, his voice was dangerously sexy, the kind of voice that wrapped around her like armor.“You are not boring,” he said, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “At least not to me. You are the best woman I have ever been with, Andrea. I was never the relationship type, I never really wanted to settle down. I built my whole life around control, work and distance because it was safer that way."But you… when you walked into my building on your first day and crashed into me like a storm I couldn’t ignore, I knew you weren't like everyone else. You're different....special. You make me want t

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 78 - FINALLY LETTING GO

The living room slowly started to feel like home again. Grandma Grace helped treat Andrea’s head injury just in time so it doesn’t get infected. Henry grunted as he flipped the heavy couch back onto its legs, while Mindy crouched nearby, carefully sweeping shards of the broken lamp into a dustpan. Andrea folded the thrown cushions and placed them neatly on the sofa, and Grandma Grace directed traffic from her armchair like a general who had just survived a war.“Careful with that glass, Mindy dear,” Grandma Grace said, pointing with her cane. “I don’t need any of you slicing your fingers open after everything we’ve been through tonight.”“I’ve got it, Grandma,” Mindy replied, smiling as she swept the last pieces into the pan. “You just sit there and supervise. You’ve earned it.”Henry straightened up, dusting his hands on his jeans, and let out a low chuckle. “Looks like this place is gradually getting back into place. I’m glad I could help, Grandma Grace.”Grandma Grace laughed, “Oh,

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 77 - LOOKING PERFECT FINE

Lindsay sat stone-faced in the back of one cruiser, wrists cuffed behind her, staring straight ahead looking a lot like she was disappointed instead of regretting what she’d just done. Caleb was already loaded into another, head bowed, looking a lot more regretful than he ever had in his life. The three armed men were split between two more vehicles, their weapons long since confiscated and bagged as evidence.Henry didn’t watch them leave. His arms were still locked around Andrea, holding her like she might vanish if he let go even for a second.Slowly, they broke apart. Andrea’s hands trembled as she stepped back just enough to look up at him. Tears were flowing freely through her lashes, but her voice was raw and steady. And the side of her head was still bleeding. “Andrea, you’re still bleeding we need to get you to the hospital right away.” the words stumbled out of Henry’s mouth a little shaky. But Andrea wasn’t interested in that yet. “Henry… I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “For

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 76 - DROP YOUR WEAPONS

Mindy’s sneakers slapped against the asphalt as she sprinted around the corner of the clinic, heart slamming against her ribs. She had waited in the car as long as she could, but the second she heard Henry shout Andrea’s name, something inside her snapped, she couldn't wait in here any longer.“Andrea!” she yelled, voice cracking with fear. “Andrea, where are you?!”She found herself wandering through the dimly lit alcove when she spotted them. The scene hit her like a slap. Lindsay was standing behind Andrea with a gun pressed to her best friend’s temple. Caleb off to the side looking twitchy and guilty. Three large men with their own weapons drawn. And Henry, ten feet away, hands raised, every muscle locked in place.Mindy’s stomach dropped. “Oh my God…”One of the armed men swung his gun toward her instantly. “Don’t move!”Another followed, the barrel aimed straight at her chest. Mindy threw her hands up, eyes wide with horror. She had expected trouble but she had not expected this

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 75 - GET THE GUN!

Henry kept moving without knowing exactly where he was going, he had left his phone in the car so he couldn't track the location pin to know where exactly Andrea was. His breath were coming in sharp, controlled bursts. The yellow security lights cast long, jagged shadows across the parked cars and dumpsters. He didn’t slow down. He couldn’t.“Andrea!” he shouted, voice raw and echoing off the brick wall. “Andrea! Where are you?!”The sound ripped through the quiet night like a siren. He rounded the corner of the building, eyes scanning every shadow, every flicker of movement. His heart hammered so hard it felt like it would crack his ribs. “Andrea! Answer me!”Inside the dimly lit alcove behind the clinic, Lindsay’s head snapped up. The live video feed on her phone trembled in her hand. Caleb froze mid-sentence, phone still clutched between his fingers. The three large men standing guard shifted, hands twitching toward their sides.“He’s here,” Lindsay hissed, her perfectly composed m

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 74 - THESE PHOTOS AREN'T REAL, RIGHT?

Henry’s ash Toyota land Cruiser screeched to a stop in front of the modest brick building on 14th Street, right outside Apartment 21. The engine was still rumbling when Mindy burst through the front door, coat half-on, hair flying behind her. She didn’t wait for him to get out. She yanked the passenger door open and slid inside in one fluid motion, slamming it shut behind her.“Go,” she said before her seatbelt even clicked. “The pin hasn’t moved. She’s still at that clinic.”Henry didn’t need to be told twice. The tires barked against the asphalt as he pulled away, merging into traffic with a sharp left that made the whole car lean. Mindy gripped the door handle, her face pale but determined. For the first few blocks neither of them spoke. The city lights streaked past the windows like warning signals. Henry’s hands were locked on the steering wheel, driving too fast with experience in him. Every second that ticked by felt like another knife twisting in his chest.Mindy pulled out he

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 41 - MORE THAN ENOUGH

The drive home from the restaurant was quiet in the best way. Andrea sat in the passenger seat with her hand still laced through Henry’s, the city lights sliding across her face in fleeting ribbons of gold and white. The hum of the tires on asphalt was steady, soothing, and every so often Henry woul

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 40 - HAD THE BEST NIGHT

The rooftop restaurant sat high above the city like a secret garden in the sky. Warm golden string lights draped over flowering vines, and the skyline glittered below like scattered diamonds. Their table was tucked in a quiet corner, shielded by a low hedge of white roses, with a single candle flick

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 39 - COMPLETELY SPOILED

The second boutique smelled faintly of fresh linen and expensive perfume, the kind of scent that clung to the air and made every rack of silk dresses glow under the soft, flattering lights. Andrea’s fingers brushed over a simple black slip dress, the fabric cool and impossibly smooth. She lifted it

  • Her Only Exception   Chapter 38 - BREAKFAST AND BROKEN PROMISES

Henry didn’t get home until almost one in the morning. The penthouse was dark and silent. He dropped his keys on the console table and walked straight to Andrea’s room, exhaustion pulling at his shoulders but guilt pushing him forward. He eased the door open quietly. She was curled on her side, bre
