LOGINLauren Popes's life changes in a flash when she was forced to marry Andre Sebastian, a ruthless billionaire. Her sole reason for agreeing to the marriage was to save her father's company from crashing. Despite having the means to rescue her father's company, her father insisted on her marrying Andre or ceasing to be his daughter. Life with Andre was a nightmare; he prohibited her from working, violated their marital vows by being unfaithful, and brought different women to their marital home. His actions deeply hurt Lauren, yet she somehow falls in love with him till she discovers that her cousin, Julia, had an intimate relationship with him and is now pregnant by her husband. Will this revelation be the final straw for Lauren, potentially marking the end of their marriage?

“What are you saying dad?” I stare at my father in disbelief. “How can you agree to that without even consulting me first? I’m an adult dad, you don’t get to make decisions for me.” I say with tears slowly forming in my eyes. “Listen dear, this is for the sake of the company. Without his investment, we’re going to lose it. I had no choice than to agree Lauren.” He sighs “I won’t do it dad. I won’t.” I stand up from the couch clenching my fists tightly trying to retain my anger. “ I’ve done everything you wanted me to do. Everything you asked of me, I did. But not this time dad.” I look straight in his eyes silently pleading with my eyes but he looks away from me. “The deal has been finalized Lauren, there’s nothing you can do about it. You just have to accept this.” He says. “There are other successful companies who might be willing to invest in the company, he can’t be the only person.” I’m crying at this point, desperately looking for a way out of this nightmare. “Do you think I’ve not tried? Do you think I’m happy giving my daughter away to that psycho? He says softly and finally looks at me. “If there was another way out of this, I would have taken it but this is the only solution and you just have to deal with this.” He walks up to me and take my hands in his. I hold his hands tightly, begging him desperately.” Daddy please, I’ll don’t want to marry him” I choke out. Daddy sighs deeply and looks at me again “ the marriage is in two days, he’ll be coming over tomorrow with his parents to get acquainted with you before the marriage. Be on your best behavior.” “I won’t marry him.” I choke out. “If you don’t, then you’d cease to be my daughter. This isn’t just about you. It’s about the company and the well-being of this family. If you won’t do this for the family then I’ll cut you off.” With that, he storms out of my room. I fall to the ground, crying my heart out. It’s the next day. I’m sitting with my family waiting for the arrival of my “husband”. My mother is staring at me with worry in her eyes as I haven’t said a word since last night. She looks like she has been crying as well. I can’t bear to look at my father. Not after what he said to me last night. I look dehydrated and tired. I barely slept as I was up all night crying and thinking about my new reality and wondering if there’s any way out of the mess my father has made of my life. I have dark circles under my eyes but I’m not bothered by my appearance. Maybe if I look unattractive he’ll call off the marriage. Just maybe. The doorbell rings and my heart begins to race. I’m about to burst into fresh tears but my eyes are too weak from all the crying earlier. Or maybe it’s the stern look I get from my father. I take a deep breath to compose myself. I stand up and smoothen my dress as I walk and take my position behind my parents who are already at the door, ready to welcome the guests. As my mother opens the door, we’re greeted by the cheeriest couples. They greet my parents like they’ve been friends for years with hugs and compliments flying around. Their joy is so contagious and I smile a little to myself for the first time since I found out about my arranged marriage. They seem like great people and I wonder if their son would be like this. Maybe this marriage will not be as bad as I think. “Is this my future daughter-in-law?” Mrs Sabastian says, interrupting my thought. “Hello ma’am, I’m Lauren and it’s a pleasure to meet you” I say with a small smile. “Oh what a pleasant young woman! Isn’t she beautiful?” She says and face her husband. I look down as my cheek reddens a bit and I find myself blushing. “She is indeed.” Mr Sabastian says as he stretches his hands towards me for a handshake. “ it’s nice to meet you dear.” “Likewise sir. You’re welcome” For a second, I don’t feel as horrible as I was earlier. They’re really kind and welcoming. “Where’s Andre? I don’t see him around, is he here?” My dad askes as he stretches his neck out of the door trying to find him. “He’s in the car on a business call. He’ll come in soon.” Mrs Sabastian answers. “He’s always working and never has time away from his phone or office. It’s exhausting to watch” she tells my mom as they walk inside the house to get comfortable. I’m about to close the door, when I see someone coming. As I look up to see who it is, I freeze instantly.Lauren A week passed faster than I expected it to. Between remote meetings, endless emails, and a body that seemed to be constantly renegotiating its relationship with food, I barely noticed the days stacking on top of each other. I was tired in a way that sleep didn’t quite fix—but it was a productive tired. The kind that came from doing something, even if I was still figuring out what that something was. That morning, my phone buzzed while I was on a call. Ethan: Found your yoga place. We're leaving in the next hour. Me: Aye, aye captain. By the time my meeting ended, there was a knock at my door. I opened it to find Ethan grinning far too proudly, holding two large boxes. “No,” I said instantly. “Yes,” he replied. “Delivery just came. For you.” “I didn't order anything.” I said. “Well I did. And it's yours.” I scrunched my face. “See….. I noticed you didn't go shopping for yoga so I decided to shop for you,” he said plainly like he was telling me about the we
Lauren POVNew Zealand mornings were quieter than I was used to.Not empty—just calm. The kind of calm that didn’t demand anything from you the moment you opened your eyes. I liked that about this place. It let me breathe before the world remembered I existed.By nine a.m., I was already dressed and seated at the small dining table, my laptop open, a cup of ginger tea cooling beside it. Kate appeared on my screen right on time, her familiar sharp bob and sharper expression somehow comforting despite the distance.“You look… rested,” she said slowly, eyes narrowing as if suspicious of the fact.“I slept eight hours,” I replied. “Voluntarily.”Kate gasped. “Who are you and what have you done with Lauren Pope?”I laughed, the sound surprising even me. “How’s the brand?”She straightened, all business now, and launched into updates—new suppliers, a delayed shipment, a collaboration opportunity she’d put on hold until I was ready. I listened, chimed in when needed, grateful all over again
Lauren pov I woke up feeling wrong. Not the usual groggy, jet-lagged tired. This was deeper. Nausea twisted my stomach, sharp and sudden, followed by a dull ache low in my abdomen that made me freeze in place. My hand moved to my stomach instinctively, panic rushing in before logic could catch up. Three weeks wasn’t far along. Anything could happen. I sat up slowly, breathing through the discomfort, then forced myself out of bed. As I stood up, the pain became sharper. Unable to bear it, I quickly dressed in the simplest thing I could find, brushed my teeth, grabbed my bag, and left the apartment without bothering to eat. The walk to the entrance of my apartment felt endless, my thoughts spiraling the entire way. I quickly hailed a cab and told him to take me to the closest hospital. During the drive I couldn't stop breathing through my mouth, it was the only way that didn't seem to intensify the pain. By the time he stopped at the hospital, I was already crying. Please be o
Andre PoV I kept rereading the note like it might change if I stared at it long enough. Lauren’s goodbye sat open on my computer screen, the words burned into me now, memorized against my will. Every line felt calm. Too calm. That was the part that terrified me the most. There was no anger in it. No accusations. Just clarity. Finality. I am not running away, I'm simply leaving for my peace of mind. Please don't bother looking for me. Don't bother to look for you? How do you leave the person you’re married to because of something that's most likely untrue without even giving them the chance to fight? And then ask that I don't look for you? Ridiculous. I hadn’t been to the office in days. I didn’t shave. I did bathe. Didn’t answer calls. I barely slept. I barely ate. The curtains stayed drawn, the room dark, as if I kept the light out long enough, this wouldn’t be real. Like Lauren might walk back in, drop her bag by the door, and tell me this was all some cruel misu
