Patrice's POV

A second splash was heard after my good for nothing husband fell into the water. Everybody headed towards the railings and stared at the water below. The ripples had died down so it can be presumed they have gone deep down into the water.

I was suddenly gripped with fear. Why was he so stubborn not to show our gift for Lady Henda? The crowd lost interest waiting for the two of them to come back up to the surface but the crew of the yacht had prepared a rope ladder and were using spotlights to flood the area with light.

“Patrice, let’s go. Your good for nothing husband might be good as dead down there.” Dad said with an I-Don’t-Care tone of voice.

“Huh! He really brings shame to us! Now we don’t even have a gift to present and he steals the show by jumping into the water,” a dismayed expression on my stepmom’s face.
