LOGINChapter 4
SOPHIA POV
The moment the rejection left my lips, the entire atmosphere around us changed instantly. Derek’s jaw tightened.
The warmth inside his golden eyes disappeared slowly, replaced by something colder. More dangerous.
For one terrifying second, the air around him felt suffocating, almost like an invisible pressure was crushing everything nearby. Even the lights above us flickered slightly.
His Lycan was furious. I could feel it. The possessiveness rolling off him was so intense that my heartbeat became uneven again.
“I don’t accept the rejection,” he said coldly.
His deep voice echoed through the silent office floor, sending chills crawling down my spine. I swallowed hard while forcing myself to remain calm externally.
Good. Let him be angry. As long as he wanted me, I could still use him.
“What?” I whispered softly, pretending to look shocked.
His golden eyes locked onto mine immediately.
“Why did you reject me?” he demanded in an authoritarian voice that sounded more like an order than a question.
The pressure in the room increased again. Any normal person would probably tremble under that stare. But I had survived worse than him.
Still… I lowered my eyes carefully, forcing myself to appear nervous instead of hateful. Because right now, anger would only ruin my plans. I needed him emotionally attached to me. Completely blinded by the mate bond. Only then could I destroy him properly.
“Because…” I paused softly before biting my lower lip slightly. “I thought you didn’t want me… since I’m human.”
I made my voice quieter near the end, allowing sadness to slip into it naturally. A lie. Every word was a lie. But after years of surviving among the warriors who have turned rogue, lying has become second nature to me.
Derek’s expression changed instantly. The coldness inside his eyes softened slightly while his gaze moved slowly across my face. Almost carefully.
“No,” he said immediately.
The firmness in his voice surprised even me.
“I want you, my little human mate.”
My stomach tightened unexpectedly at the possessiveness in his tone. Mate. The word still felt unreal, wrong and dangerous.
“How could I not want you?” he continued while stepping closer slowly. “I have been looking for you for years.”
For a second, confusion flashed inside me. Years? My brows almost furrowed before I quickly stopped myself. No. Focus. Do not let him distract you.
“Really?” I asked quietly while lifting my eyes toward him.
The look in his gaze darkened instantly again. God. The way this man looked at me was dangerous. Like I was something precious. Something he would kill for.
And strangely… That made me uncomfortable. Because this was not how I imagined our first meeting would go. I wanted him to be cruel. Heartless. Easy to hate. Not this.
“Yeah,” he answered deeply.
Then he stretched his hand toward me slightly.
“Come here. Let’s go to my office.”
Only then did I suddenly realize where we were still standing. Outside. In the middle of the office floor. Heat rushed to my face instantly as I looked around quickly.
But the entire floor was empty. Completely empty. Not a single worker remained. A strange silence filled the place now. The only sounds were the faint hum of the air conditioner and my own heartbeat. Derek noticed my expression immediately.
“They are not here,” he said calmly. “I asked them to leave.”
“Oh,” I muttered softly.
But inside? My thoughts were completely different. Perfect. If I wanted, I could try killing him right here. The thought came suddenly and violently. My fingers twitched slightly at my side. But I pushed the thought away immediately.
No. Not yet. Taking down the Lycan King would never be that easy. And honestly… The dangerous aura radiating from him this close made it painfully obvious why nobody dared challenge him openly.
Even now, standing beside him, I could feel the beast inside him watching me carefully. Like a predator guarding its possession. Derek began walking toward the private elevator and I followed quietly behind him.
Every step deeper into his territory made my chest tighten slightly. The private elevator opened directly into the top office floor. The moment I stepped inside his office, my breath caught briefly.
Magnificent. That was the only word that came to my mind. The office was massive with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the entire city.
Dark expensive furniture filled the room while silver wolf symbols decorated the walls subtly. Everything screamed wealth, authority, and control. This was not just an office. It was the office of a king.
The scent of leather, cedarwood, and Derek’s intoxicating smell filled the space completely.
My body reacted instantly again. Damn this bond. I hated how aware I became whenever he was near me. Derek walked behind the large black desk before pulling his chair back slightly.
Then unexpectedly… He guided me gently toward the chair instead.
“Sit,” he said softly.
I hesitated for a second before sitting down slowly. The chair turned slightly until I was directly facing him.
Now he stood right in front of me. Tall. Dominant and dangerously handsome. And watching me with an intensity that made it impossible to breathe normally.
For a few seconds, neither of us spoke. The tension between us felt heavy. Almost unbearable. Then finally, Derek crouched slightly in front of me until our eyes met completely again.
His voice became serious this time. Dangerously serious.
“Do you want us to be together as mates?”
The question made my chest tighten. I opened my mouth carefully, already preparing another lie.
But before I could speak. His expression changed instantly. The softness vanished from his face.
His golden eyes sharpened dangerously as if he suddenly remembered something important. Then slowly… Very slowly. He straightened back up.
“And where are you from…” he asked quietly.
The atmosphere inside the office shifted again. Cold. Heavy with suspicion. His eyes locked onto mine with terrifying intensity.
“What is your agenda and goals for entering this company?”
EPILOGUESOPHIA POVThe cold night breeze brushed softly against my skin as I stood quietly on the open balcony, staring at the silver moon hanging high above the empire.Everything below looked peaceful. The palace lights glowed beautifully against the darkness while distant laughter echoed faintly from somewhere far below. The wind carried the scent of flowers from the royal garden mixed with the familiar cool scent of the night.Seven years. It had already been seven years since I first walked into Derek’s company with revenge burning inside my heart.Seven years since I stood in front of him with hatred. Seven years since I planned to destroy him. And somehow… seven years later, I was now standing inside his palace carrying his child. Life truly had a strange way of changing people. A small smile touched my lips unconsciously as my hand slowly rested on my swollen stomach. It had also been four years since I returned to Derek after leaving him that day.For three whole years, I s
Chapter 9SOPHIA POV“This is a joke… right?” I asked. My voice sounded empty even to my own ears. I took a slow step backward without realizing it, my legs suddenly feeling weak beneath me.Five years. Five whole years of hate. Five years of pain and endurance. Five years of training myself into something cold enough, sharp enough and dangerous enough to kill him without hesitation. And now he was standing there telling me it was all built on the wrong person? My chest tightened painfully. No, this couldn’t be happening.“That’s not possible,” I whispered again, but this time the confidence in my voice was gone completely.Derek’s expression softened slightly.“It is.”Silence filled the office again. But this silence felt different now. Before, it was heavy with anger and hatred. Now… it felt suffocating. Like the truth itself had entered the room and stolen all the air from my lungs. My knees weakened slightly, but I forced myself to remain standing. I refused to break down in fron
Chapter 8 SOPHIA POV “What crime did innocent people commit for them to be slaughtered like animals?”The memories became too loud again. The screams. The blood. The smoke. My breathing turned unstable.“I would have died too if I had been there that night.”Derek took a slow step toward me.“Don’t,” I warned instantly. But he continued anyway. Another slow step. Controlled. Unhurried. He never rushed because he never needed to. Power naturally followed him.“I never gave that order,” he said quietly. His voice was calm, but something inside it felt heavier now.“You have been carrying hatred for the wrong person all these years.”My eyes flashed with fury immediately.“Don’t say that.”I shook my head repeatedly.“No. No, don’t do this.”Why was he still lying? Why was he trying so hard to destroy the only thing that had kept me alive for five years?“You admitted it,” I snapped. “The news carried it. Every platform carried it. The whole world knew you were responsible.”Derek’s ey
Chapter 7SOPHIA POVThe silence inside the office felt heavier than anything I had ever experienced before. Heavy enough to suffocate. My heartbeat still refused to calm down after everything Derek had revealed. My fingers trembled faintly at my sides, but I forced myself to remain still. Forced myself not to show weakness in front of him.Derek stood a few steps away from me like he always did—calm, composed, completely in control.Watching me. Studying me. Like he could see through every lie, every wall, every layer I had built around myself during the past five years. But this time… something was different. There was no amusement in his eyes anymore. No teasing smirk. No dangerous flirting. Only something darker. Something unreadable. Something that made my chest tighten painfully.“Alpha Derek, I don’t understand what you are talking about,” I said finally, forcing my voice to stay calm despite the chaos inside me.I folded my arms slowly, trying to maintain control.“Stop accusi
Chapter 6SOPHIA POV“You can torture me all you want. I won’t say a word.”My voice came out steady, but inside my chest, my heartbeat was anything but calm. I stood straight, forcing my expression to remain cold while Derek watched me like he was already inside my head.“But I know you can’t bear it right, your Lycan won’t allow it,” I added sharply, lifting my chin slightly. For a moment, silence stretched between us. Heavy. Suffocating. Derek tilted his head slowly, studying me like prey he had finally caught.A faint smirk appeared on his lips.“It is true,” he said calmly. “That I can’t bear it”My fingers tightened slightly.“But there are plenty ways to get the truth out of you without torture.”His voice dropped lower at the last word. Dangerously low. My body reacted before my mind did, a small tension running through my spine. I loathed this reaction. He took a slow step closer. Then another. The space between us shrank until I could feel the pressure of his presence again.
Chapter 5SOPHIA POV“What do you mean?” I asked nervously, but my body was already on alert. My fingers curled slightly at my side, hidden beneath the edge of my blazer. The air in the room felt different the moment he spoke. He was not guessing. He was confirming something.Derek’s eyes did not leave mine for even a second. Slowly, he stepped away from the desk, the sound of his shoes against the marble floor echoing in the silent office like a warning.“I know you entered this company for a purpose.”His voice was calm. Too calm. That was what made it dangerous. My heartbeat skipped slightly. I forced my expression to remain steady.“I don’t understand what you mean,” I said carefully. But inside my mind, everything tightened. No. This was not part of my plan. Not this soon. Derek tilted his head slightly as if studying me. Then he continued.“Or do you take us for a fool?”The temperature in the room seemed to drop. His golden eyes sharpened.“You have been monitoring this company
