Chapter 6 "Human in Alpha's House"

Adam and Chandler stayed on the living room, drinking tea together as they wait for Brett,

They kept silent for long minute until Adam came up with a question.

“How did you find her?”

Slowly and elegantly, far from his ferocious form as wolf, Chandler placed the teacup on the table. He held Adam’s gaze which a smile that somehow reassuring. And then, he answered.

“Will you believe me if I say that I saw her by coincidence?”

Adam placed his cup on the table. He rested his elbows on his knees and lifted gaze to his friend. “I don’t think you would lie about that.”

Chandler grinned and chuckled.

“But I have doubts if she’s really the Luna that we’ve been looking for,” Adam continued while wearing a perturbed expression.

“I can understand you,” Chandler agreed. “Although I clearly saw the changing of her eyes, it is hard to detect her presence as wolf. She seemed really like a human. And based on her question, she hasn’t no idea about us.”

“Which means, she hasn’t learned to transform yet,” Adam added.

‘Or she doesn’t know how,’ Chandler thought inwardly.

Chandler understands why Brett and Adam have their doubts. However, he thinks it is very impossible for him to get wrong. The conversation he and Maxine had before she lost her consciousness is his evidence that he really found the right one.

“So, what is your plan?” Adam inquired.

Shifting his blue eyes to him, Chandler responded, “It is not about me. It will be OUR plans.”

Adam shut his red-lips and lowered his eyes. As he looked downward, his long lashes flattered.

Chandler, Brett and Adam are both Alphas in the three clans leading three remaining packs. Although they hold the same title, Chandler holds the higher position as he is the king of the Alphas, which made Adam and Brett bowed their heads to him.

‘But if he says ‘OUR,’ does it mean that he is planning to use her for the three of us?’ Adam thought as he looked back to his friend.

“As of now, we need to keep her by our side until we can confirm her identity as my Luna,” Chandler said, staring the the free space. “If the werewolves hunters found her before us, the clans will be in doom.”

Adam nodded as he agreed. He gave strength on his calm hands and clutched them together. And then, something flickers through his eyes, so quickly there’s no time for Chandler to read it. Guilt? Sadness? Anxiousness?

“Why do you look so worried?” Chandler asked Adam.

Adam’s jutted chin loosened and his lips parted a bit. Just now, he doesn’t know what kind of expression he was showing while he’s thinking about the lady Chandler has brought.

“I know you are a bit softie when it comes to women,” Chandler teased his Alpha friend. “But it is so surprising to see you getting overly worried about her. You usually aren’t interested to any women, whether she’s a human or a werewolf.”

Adam did not reciprocate Chandler’s gaze. He bowed his head, pinched his lips as his face flared red like the ketchup slathered all over his cheeks.

He remained speechless for quiet long seconds, before he looked up and responded, “Why Brett and that girl are taking so long just for a bath?”

Then he forged a cough and cleared his throat.

“Shouldn’t we go and check them?” Adam asked as he purposely trying to avert the smart Chandler.

At Adam’s expectation, such tricks did not work to the sneaky wolf.

“Are you interested to her?” Chandler interrogated Adam.

Once again, Adam tilted his head to the other side.

“No. Not like that. How can I like her when we haven’t proved that she’s one of us?” Adam continued, blushing. “I just think that she is… cute.”

Chandler’s eyes widened and subsided.

During their hunts with the pack, Alpha Adam is a violent beast who does not know mercy when it comes to his prey. He devoured his hopeless prey and left nothing except its bone. And yet, he saw Adam blushing while calling a girl cute.

‘His ideal type is… cute?’

Chandler found it so odd. Especially from a beast like Adam. And yet, he remembered that old habits wouldn’t easily die.

Having those thoughts, Chandler let out a silent chuckle. As he was about to open his lips and ask Adam more, the two of them sensed a presence of werewolf coming inside the house.

Ceased.

Their eyes brightened and low growls vibrated in their throats. Both of them had their eyes up to the second floor of Chandler’s house.

“It seems like we have a Delta visitor,” Chandler murmured.

“A visitor who doesn’t know how to use the main door?” Adam said, growling.

As they looked at each other, the colors of their eyes back to their original hues. They sensed the identity of the wolf, and even his smell. They are certain that it has something to do with Chandler’s father, the Elder of the pack.

Meanwhile, at the second floor of the room, Brett welcomed the Delta visitor with a knife on his hand.

Brett pointed his sharp knife at the visitor’s neck while chuckling sarcastically.

“Even from afar, I sensed your presence. But I am still surprised that you came through the window,” Brett said.

The tall man who entered the room in the second floor of Chandler’s house is Isaac, a Delta from the Wayne pack. He’s serving as guard of the elder, Lanceil Wayne, who is Chandler’s father; the former Alpha of the clan.

Isaac gawked at the sharp thing threatening his open neck. Then he set his apathetic eyes towards Brett.

“Greetings to Alpha Brett,” Isaac greeted with a voice as calm as the flow of the water in a stream.

Brett smirked at him, pointing the knife closer to his countenance’s neck.

“Let’s skip the greetings,” Brett responded. “Why did you come here? To Chandler’s house?”

Isaac stared at the knife beneath and took a deep breath. If Brett would really want to threaten his life, he can just transform into his werewolf form and fight against him as beast. An alpha werewolf claws are sharp enough to penetrate another wolf’s durable skin, and it is way more dangerous than the knife Brett is holding.

Still, there are reasons why werewolves chose to fight in their human form.

Their mere existence in the society is a secret. They have to be careful to stay in the dark, and to not be discovered. Especially from the werewolves hunters. Which is why, since the era changed, some of the werewolves prepared to fights in their human forms to avoid getting caught. But in the forest and under the moonlight, it will be a blood battle of hungry beasts.

“I came here because of the Elder,” Isaac answered Brett.

“The Elder?” Brett repeated.

Slowly, Brett put down the blade from Isaac’s neck.

“The Elder of Wayne clan asked you to visit his son’s house. But through window? Huh. That’s weird.”

Isaac met his gaze and replied, “This is an issue within the Wayne clan. I don’t think that Alpha Brett has the rights to butt in.”

A sharp gaze went to Brett.

Growl.

Sharp fangs appeared as Brett growled at Isaac’s response to his question. He was annoyed but he admitted the truth.

‘It’s annoying that everything he says makes sense,’ Brett told to himself.

As they looked at each other, they heard crashing of fallen objects from the bathroom.

Isaac looked at the direction of the door and heard a woman’s gasp.

“Oh!”

He frowned, while Brett gaped.

As the era evolves, some of the werewolves members date human. And that’s how there are some came with hybrids of werewolves and human. However, Isaac thought that it is really weird to spot a female human inside Chandler’s house.

If it is Brett, then it will be easier to believe that.

“A human,” Isaac murmured.

He walked past to Brett, approaching the door of the bathroom.

Brett remained rooted in his spot.

It is true that within the affairs of the Wayne clan, Brett has no rights to interfere. However….

‘I can’t let the elder of Wayne know about that woman whom identity is still unknown,’ Brett concluded.

Before he could stop Isaac, a sweet voice appeared.

“Excuse me. I think I need some help.”

Brett chuckled inwardly. He did not expect that she will come out by herself.

As Isaac heard the plea, he placed his hand around the knob and opened the door from the outside.

The door opened widely and the two met.

Wearing only a towel around her body, Maxine looked at the man in front of her.

She stared at the tall guy with apathetic expression. He has small face, rounded no lid fierce eyes and dark red hair. He has two gold piercings on both ears but it didn't degraded the his elegant appearance: brushed up red hair, black turtle neck shirt, maroon trench coat and matte black pants.

Like the three beasts she met before, the man is also good looking.  But that is not the problem.

The fact that she’s standing with only towel around her body made her heart pounded so hard before a loud shout echoed.

“Ahhh!”

Maxine quickly turned around while hugging her upper body.

She really wanted to close the door again but Isaac is still holding the knob, and so, the last resort is to hide her body.

On the other hand, Isaac looked at her back without much reactions.

“A human inside Alpha Chandler’s house. The elder will be surprised.”

‘Alpha?’ Maxine thought while catching her breath. ‘If he said Alpha, then is he also a…’

Before she could finish her thoughts, Brett meddled and spoke.

“He will be so shocked that I brought my girlfriend to my friend’s house. Isn’t it?” Brett said, referring Maxine as  his girlfriend.

‘What? Who? Who is his girlfriend?’

Jaw dropping, Maxine slowly turned her head towards Brett.
