Darius

“Stop this, Darius. I don’t even think of something right now.”

“Lie prettier,” I mutter, but it’s not enough. I need more. I need her to crack.

Vivienne’s glare could slice me open, but I’d let her. Hell, I’d hand her the blade.

“Step back, Darius,” she says, voice sharp enough to mask the way her pulse is hammering.

“Make me,” I counter, low, taunting. “Go on—try.”

Her jaw tightens, and I catch it—the faintest tremor in her hands. My lips twitch into a cruel smile. “You hate that I can still read you, don’t you?”

“Read this,” she snaps, shoving at my chest. It doesn’t budge me an inch.

“Cute,” I murmur, leaning in, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “But I know that look in your eyes. You want to claw me apart and—” I smirk. “Maybe kiss me right after.”

She scoffs, a harsh sound. “You’re unbelievable.”

“And you’re lying,” I shoot back, pinning her with my stare. “I can hear it—your heart’s practically begging for me.”

Her laugh is cold, but it cracks at the

Vivienne He’s too close. So close I can count the gold flecks in his wolf-dark eyes. So close my lungs forget how to work, like breathing is some luxury I don’t deserve in his gravity. Why is he doing this to me? “Back up,” I whisper. He doesn’t. Of course he doesn’t. Darius only knows how to advance or annihilate. “Why are you shaking?” he murmurs, voice low, dangerous. “From fear… or from memory?” I glare. “From rage.” He smiles, humorless. “Lie prettier.” I try to step sideways; his hand hits the wall beside my head, caging me in. My son is a few steps away with Zara—safe, for now. My heart hammers anyway. “Move,” I say, softer, deadlier. “No.” His eyes drop to my mouth for one traitorous second. “Not until you hear me.” “I’ve heard you, Darius. I’m done listening.” “I’ll have to admit,” he whispered, voice low and rough like gravel sliding over fire, “I have come to terms with the fact that I’m wrong.” His words hit me like stones I wasn’t ready for. “I don’t have a

DariusAnd after everything—after the lies, the tests, the sleepless nights—she’s here.Right in front of me.Vivienne.Not the soft memory of her I’ve been torturing myself with. Not the ghost of the girl I used to hold. But the woman who looks like she’s about to rip my throat out.And god help me, I can’t even look away.“Vivienne—”“I don’t know what you want,” she cuts me off, her voice sharp enough to skin me alive. It’s exactly what I expected. Angry. Mad. Like every syllable is soaked in betrayal and fire.I take a step closer, slow and deliberate, because my wolf is clawing at me to close the distance. “I want you to listen.”She laughs, cold and bitter. “Listen? Darius, I’ve heard enough. Heard about your games. Heard about your tests.” Her voice shakes—not from fear, but from rage. “Do you think I wouldn’t find out?”“Vivienne, stop.” I move closer again. “It’s not what you think.”“Oh, don’t you dare pull that,” she snaps, chin high, eyes like glass shards. “You hired some

“Too late for what?” My voice cracked, and I hated how small it sounded.Zara’s eyes flared, like I’d just asked if fire burned. “For you to still have a choice, Vivienne. That’s what.”I blinked, tightening my hold on my son. “What are you talking about? I don’t—”She let out a laugh—sharp, humorless, like broken glass. “God, you’re still so stubborn. Always thinking you can walk into a den of wolves and come out clean.”“I’m not afraid of Celestria,” I snapped, finally finding my voice.“Good,” Zara said, leaning in until her forehead almost touched mine. “Then be afraid of Darius.”That shut me up.The silence between us was a pulse, loud and heavy. My wolf stirred, unsure, sensing the storm behind Zara’s words.“What—” I started, but Zara cut me off with a single look.“Don’t play dumb with me,” she hissed. “You think I don’t see the way he looks at you? Like you’re a mess he wants to own and ruin at the same time?”My stomach tightened. “That’s not—”“Don’t lie. Not to me.” She j

VivienneHer words made something primal in me twitch.“I didn’t bring my daughter,” she said, the way someone might mention forgetting a handbag. “But I can for sure accompany him—”Her eyes were on my son.My son.Like he was a stray, like he needed escorting, like she was offering me a favor instead of reaching for something that did not belong to her.I didn’t respond.Didn’t blink. Didn’t breathe. Didn’t give her the satisfaction of even twitching.Because if I opened my mouth, I wouldn’t be able to stop.Celestria kept smiling, like the predator she was, all glossed lips and manufactured warmth, hiding razors in every syllable. She tilted her head slightly, still speaking at me, not to me.“He’s such a darling,” she cooed, bending down slightly as if to meet his gaze, “Does he know how lucky he is? To be part of all this…”She gestured around like we were standing in a fairy tale, not an auction hosted by wolves dressed in cashmere and guilt.I clenched my jaw so tightly I thoug

VivienneI don’t have time for games today. Not with my heart pounding like a war drum in my chest and my son quietly clutching my hand like he already senses the storm I’m walking us both into. The auction’s today. Not just any auction—this is where monsters wear silk, where secrets get sold behind champagne smiles. And I’m dragging my son through the fire with me because I have to find out what that doctor did. If Darius forged that DNA test, I’ll skin the truth out of someone. We arrived at the estate, all glass and steel like it’s pretending to be classy, but it reeks of blood money and fake laughter. I barely made it past the main gates before I was intercepted by some woman who looked like she eats rocks for breakfast. She raised a clipboard like it was a damn sword. “May I ask who you are?”I blinked. “I’m Vivienne Fox. I’m attending on behalf of Sebastian and Daisy Velloré.”She arched a brow like I just handed her a forged ID. “Your name’s not on the list.”Okay, bitch.“It d
