The call came at dawn.

Vanessa’s voice cracked through the line.

“She’s gone, Eliana. Eliora’s gone.”

I sat up in bed. My heart thundered, louder than her voice.

“When?”

“Last night. She took a bag and disappeared. No note. No goodbye.”

Adrian took the phone from me. Calm but firm.

“Is security on alert?”

“Airports. Terminals. Highways. She’s vanished.”

“We’ll take it from here.”

He hung up and looked at me. I didn’t need to ask. I already knew.

She was planning something.

Security around the house doubled.

More cameras.

Motion lights.

A guard posted outside my bedroom.

Another is stationed downstairs.

Adrian didn’t say much.

But he didn’t need to.

He held my hand tighter. Walked closer. Slept with one hand over my stomach.

Four days passed.

No signs. No messages.

Until the package arrived.

Brown wrapping paper. No return address. My name in sharp black ink.

Adrian watched me open it.

Inside, a baby doll.

The head was twisted sideways. The dress stained red.

Paint, not blood. But mean

Adrian didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t slam the door.He didn’t shatter a glass or punch a wall.He simply said, “Enough.”And walked out of the room like a man going to war.I followed him. Quietly. Slowly. My legs shaky beneath the weight of everything that had come before and everything about to come after.“Adrian?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper. He didn’t stop moving. “She wants a war. I’ll give her one.”“But the custody hearing……”“She wants to weaponize your mind? Pretend you’re unstable?” His jaw clenched. “Then we expose her first.”He reached for his phone, dialed, and waited.“Vanessa. I need everything. The hit-and-run. The suppressed records. Her old school files. Therapy notes if they exist. Family referrals. People she bullied. Threatened. Bribed. I don’t care if we need to go back to childhood,if she’s starting fires, we bring the matches.”He ended the call and looked at me.“She thinks you’ll break if she makes you look weak.”“And maybe I will,” I admitted.

The envelope lay open on the dining table, the sonogram still staring back at us like a threat dressed in grayscale.Same blurry black-and-white grain. Same curved shape. Except it wasn’t ours. The name printed on the upper corner didn’t match mine. And the date, just four weeks prior.Adrian didn’t speak for a long time. He kept staring at the image like he was trying to pull truth from shadows.“She’s bluffing,” I whispered, though my voice wasn’t steady. “She must be.”Adrian slowly looked up. “Unless she’s not.”My heart dropped.“If she’s pregnant, that means…”“She’s trying to reset the board,” he muttered. “Erase everything she’s lost and start again. With a child no one can challenge.”“Except she used this photo to send a message.”He nodded tightly. “It’s not about the baby. Not really. It’s about confusion. Doubt. Making us second-guess everything. If she’s pregnant, it gives her leverage. If she’s not, she’s borrowing someone’s proof.”“And what if it’s both?”The room was

The world didn’t stop spinning after Eliora’s broadcast. But it felt like mine did.Two hours after her video went live, our phones wouldn’t stop buzzing.Calls from Adrian’s PR team. His father. Vanessa. Legal reps. The hospital board.Everyone wanted answers.Adrian didn’t give them any.He paced the length of the study in silence, one hand on his jaw, the other clenched at his side.I sat by the window. Watching the gray sky churn. They said it might rain. But the thunder hadn’t cracked yet.Much like everything else,we were still waiting for the storm to break. When Adrian finally stopped pacing, he looked at me with that same unreadable expression I’d grown used to.Not angry. Not panicked.Just… still.“She timed this,” he said finally. “She waited until the custody ruling went through. Until my uncle started sniffing around again.”“She’s claiming you’re not the father,” I whispered. “Even if it’s a lie, people will question it. And the hearing…”“Will happen in seventy-two hou

The silence in the house was heavier than usual.Adrian had left early for a board meeting, but not before kissing me twice, not before telling me again that we were safe. But I wasn’t sure anymore. Not after the message scrawled on the nursery wall two nights ago in red lipstick. Not after the photo of Eliora, smirking just outside the property line, holding a sign that readStill watching.I walked to the kitchen to pour myself some tea.The kettle hadn’t even whistled before Vanessa’s name lit up my phone.I answered. She didn’t say hello.“She made contact with someone,” she said, breathless, “and I think you should know who”I sat down and then she continued.“She called Granny Elizabeth”.I froze. Not because I didn’t expect it but because I had hoped she never would. That door was sealed long ago and for good reason.“She asked Granny for help,” Vanessa said. “She begged. Cried. But it didn’t work”.“She told her?” I asked.Vanessa hesitated.“She had no choice,” she whispered.

  • His Accidental Mrs    Chapter Seventeen — A Second Heir

Chapter Seventeen — A Second HeirI stared at the photo again. Not because I believed her,but because I wanted to,because part of me needed it to be fake.Because if it wasn’t, everything was about to change.Adrian hadn’t moved from the edge of the couch. The pregnancy test in the photo looked real. Too real. The timestamp in the corner read yesterday. She was fast.Too fast.“She’s lying,” I said, but it sounded weak even to my own ears.Adrian reached for the remote and rewound the nursery camera footage from last night. Nothing unusual. No signs of intrusion.Still, the message had come. The image was clear. Her words deliberate:You’re not the only one carrying an heir.“What if it’s an old test?” I asked, clinging to reason.“What if it’s not?” he countered, voice quiet. We both knew what it meant. If she was truly pregnant, and the child was proven to be Adrian’s,this battle was no longer one-sided. It would no longer matter what the world believed about me, or our marriage, or

  • His Accidental Mrs    Chapter 16-The envelope on the balcony

The sun didn’t rise like it used to. Not for me.I stayed curled beside Adrian most mornings, tracing the edge of his heartbeat with my fingers, pretending I couldn’t feel the anxiety in his chest. Pretending my sister wasn’t haunting the shadows of our home. Pretending her last message wasn’t still burned into the corners of my mind.I want him.She didn’t mean Adrian. She meant the child inside me.I couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t dream. I lived between fear and resolve. Every heartbeat, every breath was a silent prayer that she wouldn’t find a way in again. The guards changed shifts with sharper focus. Vanessa moved into the guest room downstairs. Adrian never left the house without three men trailing behind him. I started locking the nursery twice before bed, even though no one slept in it yet.And then, just as we started thinking the worst might be over, something new arrived. An envelope.Taped to the balcony door.No guards saw who placed it.No one heard a sound. It was beige and t
